Vila Gale Collection Palácio dos Arcos, featuring a poetic style and decor, set in a refurbished fifteenth-century palace, offers a total of 76 rooms that are in perfect harmony with their environment. The Inevitável restaurant, Spa Satsanga, outdoor pool, surrounding gardens and the palace's wine cellar - now repurposed as a meeting room - make the hotel a revitalising force in Paço de Arcos's historical heart.
Vila Gale Collection Palácio dos Arcos is ideally situated on the Tagus River along the Lisbon coastline, a mere 30-minute drive from central Lisbon. With the train station just 15 minutes away, guests can easily pop in to see the old centre of Lisbon or Cascais.
"Holiday in a palace "
Had a great stay in this hotel, the rooms in the adjacent buildings are modern and very nice with balconies overviewing the garden and pool. Our first night was in the palace itself and that room was lovely too but older well maintained style with a view on the inner square. Breakfast a la carter but also a table with lots of choice Dinner was very nice and included in our package. Tasty and well presented. Very friendly staff. In the palace you can see the indoor church, very pretty.
Very lovely and relaxing hotel. Very quiet this time of year. Wine tasting is thursdays! I had a lovely massage. All staff were extremely helpful and very nice.Close to central Lisbon. Restaurants in area were very delicious with great staff.
"Romance by the sea"
A wonderfull hotel with an excellent view. Despite the the "Marginal" road that is always full of cars, the place is really quiet. Great staff. The Spa is a bit small. Rooms very comfortable and quite big. The restaurant is a bit expensive for the type of food...
"Great hotel in my favourite location"
The hotel is located in Paco de Arcos, a quaint fisherman's village a short car or train's ride from central Lisbon. I lived in Paco de Arcos for most of my life and now that I live abroad this hotel was the obvious option to stay at. And I was not disappointed. The hotel is a converted palace so part of the hotel is old (but renovated) and the other side is a new construction. It has some character, for instance the little chapel I had to walk through to get to my room. To room was much larger than average and with a good balcony overseeing the gardens and swimming pool. Unfortunately, the swimming pool area was closed off as the trees were being cut off which meant that I couldn't use it - this was november but the weather was still ok for swimming. This is why I don't rate my experience 5 stars. The breakfast was excellent with very good bread and good selection of cooked food. Will definitely come back in the future.
"Very nice hotel but ....."
The hotel is very nice with modern, spacious room and great breakfast. The ocean view from our third floor room was awesome and the staff were friendly. The outdoor swimming pool was big and quiet although I found the indoor pool and sauna got little too crowded for my comfort. The thing I did not like was the time it took to get to the downtown Lisbon area. I read so many reviews before booking this hotel. While it is true it takes around 20 minutes by train, that's if you are lucky to catch the train without waiting. The train runs every 10-15 min and less often at night and on weekends. If you include the walking time from your hotel to the train station (ok, my 7 years old son was not walking super fast), I'd say it can take up to 40 min if not more to get to downtown Lisbon, at least an hour if you have to transfer to take subway. Also if you are coming back really late at night, it can easily take you more than one hour to get back to your room. If you are ok with this time consuming trip, I would recommend this hotel for you.
