Vila Gale Collection Palácio dos Arcos, featuring a poetic style and decor, set in a refurbished fifteenth-century palace, offers a total of 76 rooms that are in perfect harmony with their environment. The Inevitável restaurant, Spa Satsanga, outdoor pool, surrounding gardens and the palace's wine cellar - now repurposed as a meeting room - make the hotel a revitalising force in Paço de Arcos's historical heart.
Vila Gale Collection Palácio dos Arcos is ideally situated on the Tagus River along the Lisbon coastline, a mere 30-minute drive from central Lisbon. With the train station just 15 minutes away, guests can easily pop in to see the old centre of Lisbon or Cascais.
"Very nice hotel but ....."
The hotel is very nice with modern, spacious room and great breakfast. The ocean view from our third floor room was awesome and the staff were friendly. The outdoor swimming pool was big and quiet although I found the indoor pool and sauna got little too crowded for my comfort. The thing I did not like was the time it took to get to the downtown Lisbon area. I read so many reviews before booking this hotel. While it is true it takes around 20 minutes by train, that's if you are lucky to catch the train without waiting. The train runs every 10-15 min and less often at night and on weekends. If you include the walking time from your hotel to the train station (ok, my 7 years old son was not walking super fast), I'd say it can take up to 40 min if not more to get to downtown Lisbon, at least an hour if you have to transfer to take subway. Also if you are coming back really late at night, it can easily take you more than one hour to get back to your room. If you are ok with this time consuming trip, I would recommend this hotel for you.
"Beautiful mix of old and new!"
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. The room was modern, very comfortable and had a terrace with a view of the pool area and the ocean. The service was excellent. Our check-in included a tour of the old restored section including the chapel which has been integrated into the hotel. The included breakfast buffet was fantastic.
Arrived late - check in, no problems. Quick taxi ride from the airport. Staff took time, even though it was late, to show us some of the hotel facilities. Indoor pool was lovely, with a relaxing sauna and steam room. Fresh towels, immaculate grounds...paradise. Outdoor pool is wonderful, and you can see the ocean peeking through the palm trees. The hotel is a great location away from the city with the option to visit Lisbon or travel by train to Cascais. Great train connections - station just a short walk away. Delicious breakfast buffet, with pancakes, waffles and crepes made to order. Very friendly staff. Dinner was excellent and the service each night was great, personal, and efficient. Staff is always working hard to keep things up and running, but in a discreet way. Not many kids, so my 9 year-old daughter was in the company of grown-ups, but the staff warmly welcomed her. Other guests didn't seem too keen to have a child there, but I can understand why. Travel to this hotel for relaxation, sun, and to be spoiled. So glad we didn't stay in the city and chose this place for 6 nights. Would highly recommend this location for many reasons. Wi-fi service was just fine for us - not weak. We didn't want to leave.
"A little oasis!"
My husband and I visited here for a week and had a great relaxing time. It's peaceful, and luxurious, right on the coast and the staff are very attentive and look after you. Part of the building is a renovated 15th Century palace and has real character. We told them it was our 25th wedding anniversary and they left some sparkling wine on ice and chocolates in our room on our arrival which made us feel special. The breakfast buffet which was included was fabulous and included sparking wine, and the poolside service was great. We didn't eat dinner here as there were plentiful good restaurants within 100 meters and also the train into Lisbon was only 5 minutes walk away and trains were frequent and fast. We used the spa twice for massage and facial amd it also proved to be wonderful.
"Great family stay."
Made to feel very welcome and perfect for young family. The actual village is a little quiet and the nearby beach is small but you're only short train trips to Lisbon and Cascais. We also went to Sintra which is worth a trip. Lisbon hasn't many great landmarks as such but it's still nice for a wander. Teenagers would probably find the hotel too quiet but the food and overall service cannot be faulted.
