Nestled in the heart of Pelourinho, the historic quarter of the UNESCO World Heritage listed city, Villa Bahia offers a unique holiday experience with exclusive gastronomy.
Showcasing authentic Portuguese-era details, the two adjoining 17th- and 18th-century colonial homes boast two luscious garden courtyards, a refreshing plunge pool and a panoramic terrace to create a charming city base. Each of the beautiful rooms at Villa Bahia has been carefully renovated to preserve its original spirit and overlooks the district's colourful façades.
Located in Pelourinho, Villa Bahia is just a short walk away from the Jorge Amado Museum, Elevador Lacerda and Praca da Sé.
"To be in The spot"
Very nice place right in The Main square. Rooms are clean and The service is great.....I suggest to eat at The hotel restaurant very high standard where you can taste The real Palmito ....even breakfast is really good. You step out and you are in The soul of Pelourinho
Bang next to the church. It's the best location with the buzz of the city and yet slightly private. The staff was extremely cooperative. Rooms, clean and spacious. We stayed in the Madagascar room and had a great view.
Thank god we were in this hotel since it is right on the center. The moment we deviated and went slightly further from hotel you feel unsafe at times. Hotel also boasts of an excellent restaurant. This is the hotel to book if visiting Salvador!
"Quirky hotel in buzzy location!"
Great location in pelourinho district - very buzzy! Lovely, antique filled, spacious rooms all different we had both madagascar (views of square) and macau - both excellent! Excellent restaurant with friendly staff, outstanding food and outside patio tables. Breakfast served in the same restaurant by a lovely local woman - good scrambled eggs, breads and cake! The pool is very small and the ladder was broken, but there is a nice roof terrace and lounge area. We didn't fall in love with Salvador itself because while very pretty and buzzy it is a little rundown and has an edge meaning you are warned not to wander off the main roads - which made us feel a little uncomfortable and we couldn't explore as much as we would've liked. However it is definitely worth a stay - it feels very authentic and has some nice beaches - we had an enjoyable stay (loved restaurant Amado!) and if you do go this the hotel to stay at!
"Nice hotel in great area"
Villa Bahia is a very beautiful hotel with old fashioned decor matching the old town it is situated in. Our rooms on the first floor were very nice, clean and spacious with large bathrooms and cable tv. The hotel is in a great area with lots of restaurants, shops and beautiful churches nearby as well as live music on the street at night. The staff were very friendly and mostly spoke good English. The downfall is the breakfast which is included in the price but isn't great. Also, although we didn't have anything stolen, I would recommend locking up all your belongings because twice we came back to our room and the cleaners had left it wide open with our keys still in the door but no one was inside our room.
