I was here last year and it was again perfect! The room, the view, the garden, the food and the services are of a very high standard. Even if it rains you will have a perfect stay although if it is very cloudy you will miss the mountain view and the view over the lake
Spent 6 days for 10 year anniversary trip + brought along 4-year old son (spent another 3 nights at the newly opened Le Sereno hotel on the other side of the lake). We've vacationed internationally 3-4 times/year for nearly 15 years and stayed in luxury hotels on virtually every continent. They've all had their pros/cons but I can sum up Villa d'Este in two words: "Simply perfect." My wife has wanted to stay here for years but I resisted because I assumed it was a stuffy, slightly run-down hotel long past its prime. I was so, so wrong. The rooms, hotel common areas, pool area and gardens were luxurious and immaculate. We dined at the hotel for breakfast, lunch and dinner virtually every day - food was irresistible. But what set them apart from the +50 other luxury hotels we've stayed at over last 15 years was their staff. From top to bottom, they were welcoming, friendly, prompt and always eager to assist. While that can be said of many hotels, it was the level of personal, caring service that made us feel like we were staying at a second home. Tremendous thank you to Massimo D, the Resident Manager, for making us feel so welcome and at home - you helped make our stay unforgettable. At least 2/3 times a day Massimo stopped to have short chat with us to ensure everything was going well and to see if we needed anything. As an example of how much attention they pay to get to know their guests, one morning I was passing through the lobby and ran into Massimo and Danilo Z, the hotel's Managing Director, whom I had never met. After Massimo introduced us to each other Danilo, without hesitation, asked how my wife and "4-year old son" were doing. Wow. Pros *Friendly, welcoming staff (everyone seems to know who you are and what your specific preferences are, e.g., which pool chairs you prefer, how many towels you prefer, etc.). *Flawless service. *Immaculate gardens, incredible views and luxurious common areas make it incredibly difficult to leave hotel. *Very welcoming to families with young children. *Awesome food. *Evenings are formal but definitely not stuffy. *Front Desk and Concierge are extremely accommodating and helpful (gave us complimentary room upgrade, early check-in and late check-out). Cons *I think one time during peak dinner time it took a couple minutes for me to get attention of the wait staff. *Hotel is not inexpensive (each night cost more than my first car but worth every penny).
With wunderfull service and phantastic location we spend lovely days there. The pool and the lake was wonderful. The water taxi to Como easy. The ferry from cernobbio to bellagio was easy and impressed views. The only thing we missed @ villa d'Este was a longer then 7 opened kids club. So pls change that the adults have time for dinner @ hotel.
"Beautiful and wonderful hotel experience "
An amazing hotel. The staff were helpful and very accommodating in every way. Breakfasts were gourmet and the grounds to walk around in were picturesque. The scenery can not be more storybook. Everything was perfect. Enjoy your experience.
"Villa d'Este- a delight for all 5 senses"
A taste of "Heaven"- for a special treat this is the closest to perfection that I have ever experienced. The hotel itself is comparable to staying in a noble's grand villa in the most idealic setting imaginable. The views of the lake are lovely which offer a respite from our uncertain world. It is difficult to leave the charm of the Villa d'Este but when the mood strikes you it is easy to board a ferry to visit other beautiful & interesting areas such as Bellagio, Como & Tremezzo. The food, service & ambience of the hotel was exceptional - along with the impeccable grounds which are fascinating to explore where you can travel back for centuries. One tip for older travelers: do get a driver from Milan to the hotel in lieu of taking the train- the train is fine but once in Como you have a long way to carry your luggage with a zillion steps to get to the taxi stand to get to the hotel !
