"A jewel overlooking Firenze"
Wonderful place for a stay in Florence, the terrace offers a fantastic view on the Duomo and the historic city which is only 20 minutes walking distance. Friendly staff, great breakfast, charming pool and garden.
"Far from the maddening crowd"
A lovely hotel in the hills of florence, rooms are perfect and comfortable. Pool a good size but not heated. Food is excellent thought the breakfast and the room it's served in is not great. Service is good, but a bit minimal. Good with kids and family's. Transport is difficult, no bus and the hotels shuttle is not very good. Walking down to the town is possible and getting a taxi up as it's a bit long and steep. Next to the Michelangelo lookout so the view is beautiful. Back rooms look into lovely gardens. Quiet and very nice and after a hectic day it's wonderful to come back to this peaceful old florentine "palazzo".
"Very good, but ..."
The Villa is located up on the hill close to Piazza Michelangiolo and by this offers a phantastic view of Florence, especially from its terrace, but also from the beds of our suite. Unfortunately the big windows were not really clear (foggy, dirty '). The suite offered plenty of space with nice furniture - as everywhere in the whole hotel. However, if you want to shower you need to do this in bath tube. Also a little mixed feelings wrt to breakfast: while selection and quality was very good, it was not really 5*. Also we did not like the breakfast room's kind of tent atmosphere . We enjoyed the friendly and attentive staff at reception and everywhere in the house, but there is still room for improvement.
We spent 9 nights at Villa La Vedetta in August 2016 and didn't want to leave. The location and views are stunning and we found it to be more like a luxurious residence than a hotel. Our suite was spacious and well appointed. Even our little dog had a beautiful little bed set out for her. Breakfast overlooking Florence was such a wonderful way to start off every morning and a glass of wine watching the sunset was an equally fine way to wrap up the day. We used the shuttle service into town daily. We had our own rental car, but if was easier to not have to park and the service was frequent enough plus the walk back was a lovely hike if you don't feel like waiting for a pick up. We usually came back to use the pool during the heat of the day and took lunch at the hotel restaurant, which was always delicious. A quick note on the pool - it's VERY cold. Even in the hot summer heat it felt very very cold - but we persisted. Our son was determined to swim and so we did. Overall, the hotel had a good mix of tourists from all over the world or so it seemed. The crowd was quite genteel and not loud, which we really enjoyed. I wouldn't say it's stuffy, just that guests were very respectful of one another making for a very relaxing, pleasurable holiday. That plus the food, the views, the hospitality and lovely accommodations ; )
"5 star peaceful hideaway in a wonderful city"
Great hotel overlooking Florence. Stayed in a deluxe suite and was given the choice of two rooms - picked one in a building next to the main hotel as its own outdoor terrace and was a bit bigger. Grounds of the hotel are lovely - well maintained gardens and a lovely pool area. Florence is a great city but can be a little hectic so this hotel is the perfect place to get away from it all! You can easily walk to the centre but you do need to go down the hill which is a bit more challenging coming back after a day exploring!! Though the hotel does offer a complementary shuttle hourly. All in all very pleased to have made this our base for a great weekend in Florence
