"Quirky designed rooms, poor quality of facilities."
My daughter and I went to Prague for a 3 days weekend break. The receiptianists were very friendly and helpful. I can not praise them more. The hotel room was attractive and exciting, until we had lived in. The safe was not able to be opened, we have to call front desk Kristin to unlock it. Then the air conditioner was not working, we turned on the heating of the bathroom to keep the entire room warm. Next day,I was trying to switch on the TV, again, it was not working.I had to report to Ava at front desk regarding all these issues. Ava was very helpful, checked the problem and offered us the room at next door. The room was less funky but at least the TV was working, with 2 channels...The clocks were stopped. I booked the hotel online with good deal. The location was fantastic! It's walking distance to Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, Lennon Wall, old town ...However, as a 4 stars hotel, the facilities could have been better than these.
"Vintage Hotel Design Sucks"
My stay in Vintage Hotel Design Sax was a nightmare. We reserved a double delux room and were put in room 24, the bathroom flooded and the carpet was molded. We complaint three times with no resolution. The last time, obviously fed up, I went to the reception myself and told the room was horrible (IT WAS). The rude and useless atendant instead of solving the problem, call me in another area to give me a lecture about not saying bad things about the hotel in from of other guests (''''). After a lot of fight we finally changed rooms to the 22, that was OK. One more thing, the room 24 had other guests personal belongings (shampoo, soap, ... terrible cleaning service). And the chair was burned! The breakfast is poor, you have bread, ham, cheese, iogurte and some fruit. If you want coffee (expresso), hot chocolate, eggs or omelete you have to pay more for it. It is a bad cost benefit. My advice: run!
"Great Place, Great Location, Great Service"
The hotel was superb all around - great service, super clean & comfy room, wonderful breakfast and fantastic collection of contemporary design objects! The unique design of the public areas, the rooms and the cafe area had lots to look at and enjoy. The shelves of collectibles were a delight. Our room was large with a very comfortable bed and fun furnishings. The breakfast buffet was extensive and one of the best we had in Prague. The staff was always helpful and very gracious. The castle is an easy walk from the hotel. This is a must stay place in Prague!
"Great location, comfortable hotel"
This was our first visit to Prague and our first weekend away in a while so we were very excited to arrive at Sax. The hotel is quirkily decorated in 70's style which wasn't entirely to our taste but hey, it's what we signed up for! The building is lovely and our room had large windows overlooking the rooftops. Breakfasts were extensive and good. We made use of the private "spa" downstairs with its sauna and hot tub, very relaxing. The hotel is on a quiet cobbled street in the embassy district. It's pretty deserted after dark but, as a woman, I never felt unsafe walking alone at night. It's possible to walk to all the key sights but you'll want your walking shoes. Two nearby restaurants that are worth visiting are St. Martin and Krčma "U sedmi Švábů". Krčma "U sedmi Švábů" is traditional Czech food in a kitschy faux medieval setting but is good at what it does, St Martin is our favourite restaurant in Prague, the Pork steamed buns in a romantic little courtyard are enough to make you weep after a week of stodgy Czech food. To get to Krčma "U sedmi Švábů" go out of the hotel entrance, turn left and follow the road round until you see some sloping steps leading up, the restaurant is on your right part way up the steps. To get to St Martin go out of the hotel entrance turn right and then immediately left, walk for a minute (past the KGB museum) and the restaurant is on your right.
"Fun place to stay!"
Groovy vibe. Fabulous breakfast. Funky rooms and art/design. Very pleasant, helpful staff. Fantastic last minute deal on Trip advisor. Quirky location near the Embassy district, especially close to US Embassy. This location felt more safe in an already safe area. Issue: no ice...oh well. Extra: free welcome drinks in nearby fabulous restaurant. The history in tbe neighborhood is phenomenal. And dont miss out on the crazy kGB Museum nearby
