"A quirky well-designed hotel in an excellent part of town!"
I liked the 60-70s vibe of this hotel! The reception is friendly and the breakfast good, except for the coffee, which could be better! Our room had lovely views of Prague and the bed was very comfortable. The facilities were good and the location is excellent. Just don't order a flower bouquet! It was disappointingly limp and sparse!
"Fun hotel in the perfect position"
The name of hotel clearly reflects ho it is: vintage but, at same time, nice, comfortable and cleaned. The position is perfect to visit the castle (in less than 10') but also the rest of city. You can arrive everywhere walking. Even if the breakfast is not rich, the quality of the food is good including the fresh fruit. The only negative thing is that the double room doesn't have the window on the street but internally in the building but it's clearly mentioned in the website so we expect it. The room is very "vintage", comfortable and cleaned. So our staying was very good so we really recommend this hotel.
i am very much torn here between the excellent service and friendly staff and the execution of the design or better the quality of the furniture and decoration at the sax. so good things first. service is great, breakfast is fabulous and we very much enjoyed the 70ties over all decor, the collections of lamps, vases, toys, what have you. also the location is fab, the castle is right around the corner, it's only a few minutes to the charles bridge. public transport is even closer. and there are so many great restaurants and cafes around. so for all this i'd happily award the sax an excellent. unfortunately what you see is not really what you get, not if you look twice. the hotel is not very old but our bathroom or capet for example are well on their way to look shabby. and that does not go too well with the room rates. and that is why we are down to average. i am pretty sure you can find something better for thatkind of money. one more thing, some rooms do only have a window to the lounge, not to the exterior. also if you have a light sleep and do have a window to the street, it is cobblestones in the streets. meaning, it might be not the most quiet place to stay.
"Quirky designed rooms, poor quality of facilities."
My daughter and I went to Prague for a 3 days weekend break. The receiptianists were very friendly and helpful. I can not praise them more. The hotel room was attractive and exciting, until we had lived in. The safe was not able to be opened, we have to call front desk Kristin to unlock it. Then the air conditioner was not working, we turned on the heating of the bathroom to keep the entire room warm. Next day,I was trying to switch on the TV, again, it was not working.I had to report to Ava at front desk regarding all these issues. Ava was very helpful, checked the problem and offered us the room at next door. The room was less funky but at least the TV was working, with 2 channels...The clocks were stopped. I booked the hotel online with good deal. The location was fantastic! It's walking distance to Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, Lennon Wall, old town ...However, as a 4 stars hotel, the facilities could have been better than these.
"Vintage Hotel Design Sucks"
My stay in Vintage Hotel Design Sax was a nightmare. We reserved a double delux room and were put in room 24, the bathroom flooded and the carpet was molded. We complaint three times with no resolution. The last time, obviously fed up, I went to the reception myself and told the room was horrible (IT WAS). The rude and useless atendant instead of solving the problem, call me in another area to give me a lecture about not saying bad things about the hotel in from of other guests (''''). After a lot of fight we finally changed rooms to the 22, that was OK. One more thing, the room 24 had other guests personal belongings (shampoo, soap, ... terrible cleaning service). And the chair was burned! The breakfast is poor, you have bread, ham, cheese, iogurte and some fruit. If you want coffee (expresso), hot chocolate, eggs or omelete you have to pay more for it. It is a bad cost benefit. My advice: run!
