everything great in this hotel, the food...the view...the staff... everything creates an experience. i will always tell my friends to stay here. what a way to impress a guest. thanks to all staffs of Taj.
We stayed at the Fort Aguada for 2 weeks. This was our 1st time in the Fort Aguada following several previous holidays in Goa over a period of 20 years! Booked via Thomson, the 1st floor room had a wonderful sea view and we were happy with the accommodation overall. Key upsides for us were efficient and quiet air conditioning, ceiling fan, cable tv with DVD player, fridge and good shower and bath, tea/coffee facilities. The only downside was no outside area, you have to specifically book a garden room or room with a veranda for this. The inclusive breakfasts were great, loads of choice. We spent most days lazing around the pool where the lifeguards looked after us and deserve a special mention: Sanjeev, Pawan and Ram. We did not have lunch or dinner at the hotel as we prefer to venture outside and try the many beach shacks and restaurants along the “strip”, a short walk from the hotel, or taxi ride into Candolim itself. We find the cost for food and drink in the hotel over the top. If they were competitive with elsewhere we would consider dinning there occasionally. Our favourite eateries include: The beach shacks Fish Hut and Big Blue (best onion bhajis around), and along the “strip”; The Himalayan, Shivers, Grills & Curries, Ruffles, Karlton’s, pre-booking is recommended for all of these.
"Really enjoyed using the facilities here"
We were booked into the Taj by Vivanta holiday village next door which was more family orientated. But the great deal is we could use both hotels. We loved our cottage overlooking the sea at the holiday centre - and had a wonderful time. The staff were fantastic. Breakfast at both was great .But at times we enjoyed the more romantic courtyard ,pool and lovely bar at the Fort Aguada Taj . A free courtesy car - was always ready to take us next door whenever we wanted .Food and drink here is much more expensive than at restaurants outside but the facilities were lovely. The litter on the beach outside could be dealt with better . I would recommend a stay at both these hotels. We had a great holiday
"All's well that ends well"
We headed to Goa for a lazy weekend and we were so lazy that we decided to extend it by a day. Taj was a last minute choice as we were looking for good places around Panjim. And we are not regretting a bit! First of all I was awed by the place; something that I like about Taj, they keep the Indian-ness alive wherever it may be. Secondly the whole property is so different from other hotels around, it's surely worth a 2-3 day stay. There were few glitches when we arrived, first they gave us a Bayview room in the main building with an upgrade (second upgrade in the same weekend, wow) then they decided to give us a cottage, which was buggy :( But I really appreciate the patience and hospitality of the staff, they attended to our SOS at midnight and shifted us to another, better cottage. At the end, it was a memorable stay. I cannot forget the morning chai amidst the sounds of little birds chirping and the view of Arabian Sea. Would love to come back here.
"Beautiful property, great location, a few concerns..."
I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Goa where we stayed at this beautiful property. I was there with my mom who is a young 84 year old grand lady and my sister and niece. We had two adjacent rooms -deluxe sea view with a sit out. The rooms were lovely and my mom got her wish fulfilled of being able to see the ocean from her bed. The pros - beautiful property, right on the beach, nice pool, bar, fabulous housekeeping services, huge breakfast spread with wonderful ethnic Indian options, comfortable beds, and a lovely private sit out with the rooms. The cons - considering that this hotel is part of the prestigious Taj group, I was dismayed to learn upon arrival that it was not ADA compliant. There was no elevator or ramp available for my mother to go to her room! The option was to take a room in the main floor but then again all dining was in the lower floor. There was a huge accessibility issue and non-compliance with universal design requirements. Secondly , the bathroom had a bathtub which was impossible for my mom or anyone who has mobility problems to use. When I asked for a bathroom with shower stalls, I was told that the only option was to move to the back garden view rooms. That was ridiculous since we had paid premium price to get a sea view rooms. Overall I felt the bathrooms were outdated and were in serious need of renovations. Also, I had some concerns about personal hygiene of some of the staff, particularly, housekeeping and noted it in my comments at check out. Other than these concerns, we had a very memorable stay at the hotel. The staff are always there to please, going above and beyond in their service. We only ate breakfast at the hotel and ordered a bit of room service and they were both great. Location is perfect. Very close to restaurants, bars, and shopping.
