"Great view from an okay suite"
We had a 1 bedroom suite with 1 1/2 bathrooms with an incredible view of the lake and Navy Pier. But the room was supposed to have a fridge and a coffee maker. It had neither - though they did bring a fridge when we called (they were out of coffee makers but assured us we could always get complimentary coffee in the lobby - but were told at 10:15 the following morning that the coffee bar had been broken down). The closet area has a curtain that won't go far enough back to have full access to the hanging clothes area. It has a rain shower head with a wand hose that I couldn't get to work. The rooms are only divided by a curtain. When we arrived at 2:30 p.m., we learned that the W offers a late check out of 4 pm for the suites and our suite was still occupied and that it wouldn't be ready until about 5.
Customer service was great from the gentleman at the front door, front desk, maintenance and cleaning staff. Any question we asked or request we made was taken care of in a timely manner with friendly attitudes. Our room had a beautiful view. The decor is modern and fun. Be aware coffee makers are not in each room. We requested one and it was delivered within 15 minutes. We also requested a small fridge. We will highly consider booking again for next year's trip.
Staying here for a weekend break and upgraded to Spectacular room. Excellent view of the lake, rooms are modern and clean. Friendly and really helpful staff, especially the concierge who gave us directions and a uber discount code. Great location as well.
"W was great as always"
Easy check in on Black Friday too! Very courteous staff, it was 4 long blocks from Michigan Ave and since we are older had to taxi it. Got it on Hotwire so couldn't pick the hotel. We also got a city view vs a lake view which is beautiful even in the winter. Oh well it was still great!
"Super Location- A little too fancy for it's own good!"
First of all: the pros: Great location, only 4 blocks from Michigan Ave. and there is a fabulous breakfast place, Yolk, two blocks away. Friendly Staff The cons: When we checked in there was a list of services, rules etc on the table. I picked it up and read: No need to bring your own alcohol, we have fully staffed bar: however, if we catch you with alcohol in your room we will confiscate it. Now I am an adult and always take wine with me. I found this offensive and still drank my wine! Also, my cocktail in their bar was 2 shots grey goose on the rocks, with tax and tip I paid $30.00. My only visit to the bar. I found this hotel a little pretentious. Also there is a floor to ceiling smokey window between the bathroom and bedroom so anytime someone goes to the bathroom we all wake up because of the light. Also, no place in bathroom for makeup bags and toiletries.
