"Exceeded our expectations with their customer service"
Barbara Lady Agyeman and W hotel team is above and beyond amazing. Barbara didn't just give us tourist hook ups... she somehow managed to get us reservations at a top Chicago restaurant that's hard to get in on... sent us surprise goodies to our room when we left for the dinner. We are simply so happy with the service here and we stay at plenty of hotels. The location is also AMAZING. The view of the lake and Navy Pier is breathtaking. You will not be disappointed with your stay here. Thanks for making our stay at Chicago one of our favorites!
"Too Cool for School..."
Hotel is very stylish - I.e. room had a giant photo of a woman's purple lips on the wall. But it works so... okay. Seems very hip (kids say hip right'), but it was quiet, clean... We felt like the only ones in the whole hotel, no noise from rooms next door or from the city outside. A real plus, most hotels around here you'll hear sirens or traffic, in room 921 there was none of that. The hotel's decor seems like it will be dated in like 3 years. Very modern, lots of fake wood veneer and right angles. Mirrors and wallpaper accent wall. Bathroom had a large walk in shower (no tub) but the LOUDEST TOILET EVERY MADE. Seriously. Loud. Toilet. If you're staying with another person the toilet will wake you up - its hilariously loud. Also they screwed shut the minibar... which was weird, and any hotel in 2016 that doesn't have free wifi for your stay is weird. We got a sweet deal from Hotels.com but if it wasn't as cheap as we got it I wouldn't stay again.
"Very good location, busy on the weekends"
Have stayed here 3 times, great location and friendly service with great views of the lake. Very busy during the weekends with many families. I am a. SPG member and get some better rooms on other properties but not at the W. Rooms are in a need on an update soon.
"Great views, everything else needs updating..."
Should update the terrible black paint that was hip 15 years ago and upgrade their service standards!! I am a platinum SPG member staying for a long weekend. Repeatedly was shown that we could pay to upgrade our room to a suite on the website, magically none available upon check in, even though the woman next to us was asked if she would like to pay to upgrade. Checked into a mediocre room with a hall full of dirty room service trays at 4pm. Looked into the minibar and it had the last guest's food in it. Left our room at 9am on Saturday morning, returned at 4pm to a dirty room. Husband began ironing a brand new shirt, it became soiled from the iron. Called to complain and ask for a new iron and board (the pad was so thin that when used it put dimples in the clothing from the surface of the board). Housekeeper that brought new supplies was the highlight of the stay. Elevators so full of housekeeping staff that we couldn't get in 3 times and eventually missed our transportation. Woke up at 9am on Sunday to water pouring out of our toilet from the bottom of the bowl. Flooded our entire room. Engineering was prompt, but no one even apologized for the workmen in our room for an hour-we couldn't even get ready to leave as the entire bathroom and entry area was flooded. Disgusting. This hotel could really benefit from staff training, updating and paying attention to the details. Hey-it never hurt anyone to smile when greeting guests!
"Great view, great location, sloppy service"
Great location, very stylish (think house music, Maria Pergay-inspired furniture), however the service was slow and sloppy. The restaurant, in particular, was horrible, slow service, the food inedible (cold chicken, soggy and cold oatmeal, how do you ruin oatmeal') and over-priced. Warning, best to avoid the hotel's restaurant. No coffee in the room--a pain for us business travelers.
