"Ok hotel; understaffed "
The hotel is fine - not terrible and not great. It's not ideal for business travel. Rooms are dark and loud from the bar scene downstairs. They are obviously understaffed. There is usually only one person on duty at reception despite a perpetual line of 4-5 people waiting for help.
"Ok and getting better"
A boutique property in the up and coming area near Hollywood and Vine. Much construction and street people in abundance. Many decent to above average restaurants in the area. OK to walk day or night. WET upstairs has a good view. Delphine restaurant is connected with decent novelle fresh choices. Trader joes near by as is a good wine store (K&H). ATMs abundant. lobby bar is a place to watch but not likely meet people.
"Watch the staff like a hawk."
What a disappointment this luxurious hotel was, they took a $500 security bond from us for a 2 day stay. Then we found they had taken it twice. It took over a week to get the the second lot back. They had the temerity to say that taking $500 dollars was for our protection! They also asked us to sign a waiver saying we would not take food or alcohol into the room. No tea or coffee facilities in the room just an expensive load of stuff to buy. 2 days of valet parking was around $70. They did waive this but only after we asked what they would do to rectify their mistake. The staff really were quite off hand and rather inept in our opinion. No really helpful solutions were forthcoming, just unhelpful excuses. They also suggested it would help their carbon footprint if we had no linen service or maid service, we agreed to do this in good faith. The customer service was all about their needs not ours. So disappointed.
"Excellent location, friendly and fun!"
I really loved this hotel. Hadn't quite expected to - had read reviews about the downsides of being near the metro, too far away from the centre, expensive drinks etc..but really loved it. The area is vibrant with a really interesting mix of people - including street dwellers, but we never felt hassled or at all unsafe. Being able to jump on the metro was a bonus! The rooms were excellent - stylish, clean and comfy and we had a great spot looking over the boulevard. The room had a great bay window type of arrangement, where you could watch the world go by. Staff were friendly and very accommodating. Loved the bar area, fantastic decor and best margarita I've had for ever, lots of interesting and cool types milling around. Drinks and food can be a bit pricey - but starbucks is just on the corner for coffee and breakfast and a couple of excellent and well priced eateries across the road - try the green leaf gourmet chop shop - burgers are excellent. We found a great hairstylist in the complex (Nico - great cutter) and there's a Trader Joes just around the corner if you want to stock up on drinks etc. Hollywood and Highland is about 15 - 20 minutes walk away, and the museum of death and that quirky museum of broken relationships are nearby. The rooms are a bit over-stocked with drinks (and other things) for sale - but we just put them aside so no problem. I'd stay again for sure.
"Great Location, great hotel"
A top hotel located on Hollywood BLVD. Staff were very welcoming as soon as we arrived. Rooms were big, clean and beds were very comfy. Bathroom was also clean. We luckily had a view of the Griffith Observatory and the strip, but others were not so lucky. We hired a car for our trip and there were no problems with the valet guys, always happy to get our car for us. The rooftop pool gives brilliant views of LA, simply beautiful. A very relaxed atmosphere at the hotel and a very chic, modern feel. Would defo recommend and stay again.
