"Not a Family Place!"
My daughter is a young adult, and when she had a visitor coming from out of town, she wanted to treat her to a stay in Hollywood, convenient to the Metro station. Because they were young young women, they were not treated with much respect. The hotel made an error because the reservation had been amended, and it caused a lot of stress. When I visited them at the hotel, I found that the elevators smelled of marijuana, and there seemed to be not much concern about that. So, if you are looking for a Justin Bieber type of hotel, W is fine, but if you want a safe family environment, don't stay here.
Beautiful hotel, clean and outstanding costumer service. The employees are interested to give you the best experience. Very clean hotel and nice people. The all hotel it's beautiful and very modern. Best place to stay. Very comfortable as well
"Hip in Hollywood"
This was my second stay at the W Hollywood and I must say that it lived up to all expectations again. Hip, trendy are the words that come to mind when I think of this place. The location is in the heart of Hollywood and the only draw back is the never ending traffic. But, once inside, serenity rules and you are brought back to the ambience that the W hotels are known for.
The hotel is beautiful! The lobby, Living Room lounge, rooftop pool, everything was great! The service was better than expected and the management genuinely care about guests and go out of their way to ensure everyone has a great stay. We had no issue with Uber drop off or pickup. Would definitely recommend this place to stay in the Hollywood area; probably the nicest!
"Sex Noises and Sunglasses"
I chose the W Hollywood for three reasons: (1) proximity to the Hollywood Bowl (we attended a concert last night; (2) my husband's SPG Platinum status and abundance of points; and (3) proximity to the Hollywood Farmer's market, where I had hoped to shop for fresh produce before heading home this morning. We had lived in the Hollywood Hills prior to moving to Orange County and so we were not tourists and were well aware that, despite some new developments, the area around the hotel is rather seedy. We were in town to go to the concert and my 13 year old daughter was with me. The Hotel is typical W- very glossy and trendy. It clearly caters to a young crowd desperately seeking something. I did not expect to use the pool (was warned in an email sent prior that they didn't recommend minors being at the pool after 1pm). I did not expect to be able to sit down in the lounge and order food after the concert (by 10:45 pm the lounge was too full of people in full party mode, clearly not all hotel guests). I expected $42 parking and over-priced room service. But, I guess I did NOT expect that my daughter and I would wake up at 5:30am to the (very loud) sounds of people having sex in the room next door. Actually, I don't know if it was people- it was a woman or multiple women moaning and crying out. Oh, and there was some kind of house music in the background, which I could have dealt with but for the sex noises. I went in the hallway- confirmed it was the room next door- and noticed that whoever was in that room had left a pair of sunglasses directly outside the door. Okay. So, I called down to complain and was told security was coming up to deal with it. When security arrived I poked out into the hall and we could both hear the noises emanating from the room. I said "So, I'm not imagining this'" I meant it in a lighthearted way to address the obvious awkwardness. What I received in response was a rude "that's why I'm knocking on their door." I went back inside- somewhat shocked by security's attitude. Fast forward 10 minutes, security is gone, the noises are ongoing, and the sunglasses are still on the floor outside the door of the sex den. I guess whoever talked to security did not notice them' Hmmm. My daughter and I decide to leave. I have to endure a bit of a wait to get a copy of my folio, as there is only one person working (granted it was about 6:30 am) and there was a guest at the desk complaining loudly because his request for a 4pm checkout was not granted. I felt sorry for the desk clerk. As I drove home to Orange County, I became increasingly annoyed at the situation. I would have liked to have slept in until 7 am, enjoyed my complimentary coffee, and then gone to the Farmer's market as planned. The W Hollywood is clearly not a family-oriented hotel and I knew and expected that going in. However, I also don't think that a guest should have to have to listen to what was essentially porn! The good points- my husband, who has SPG platinum status and had booked the room, was delayed flying in from Asia. However, the hotel staff sorted it all out without any hassle. The other good thing is that the hotel is a fairly easy walk to the Hollywood Bowl and there are lots of people out so, despite the generally seediness of the area- it doesn't feel unsafe.
