"Great Location - Marginal Hotel"
This is not one of Starwood's best properties. The location is fabulous, really nice neighborhood and close to many great restaurants and Chapultepec Park. The hotel is pretty lousy in general. The shower in our room didn't drain, the elevators are so tiny as to be really claustrophobic, the ice maker on our floor didn't work, there were workers outside our room door early in the morning and outside our windows at odd hours. We were on the 23rd floor and the view was really nice. The staff is trying really hard in most areas. The front desk clerk was really clueless and didn't notice they had already charged our room and did it again. It was about a 40 minute check in because he didn't know what he was doing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone of any age, looks cool but they over did it in so many ways. The rooms are so full of mirrors that it messes with you equilibrium a bit. The sinks are low and not positioned well, the hand towel holders are under the low sink. The whole thing is not well thought out at all. We are in our 50's and travel with our 29 year old son and his girlfriend and they also said it was not a good experience so it isn't just that we are older. The rooms were quiet and the beds were comfortable.
"Great and convenient location to stay in Mexico City"
The W Hotel as expected lives up to the style of the brand. Our suite had an amazing view was super clean and very well kept. The location is near some of the national attractions and several great bars and restaurants.
"First visit since the upgrades - impressed!"
Since my original visits a few years ago, I returned for a few short stays before and after the new year. I'm very impressed by the updates made by the hotel. The interiors have a very fashion-forward design to them. The rooms, especially the bathrooms, are now more functional for guests. I also enjoyed the new dining options. This is a hip, stylish hotel and remains a great option to explore Mexico City. Very recommended.
"Do yourself the favor and stay here."
The W is located in the perfect spot of Polanco, right near all the best restaurants and nicest parts of the city. My girlfriend and I visited for a long weekend and we're very impressed with how friendly and helpful the staff was. You're greeted by knowledgeable people who were kind enough to help us plan our weekend. The bar has an interesting vibe to say the least, but it's a good atmosphere so it works. Room has a modern/futuristic feel to it, overall an above average room, no complaints. Right in the heart of the action as far as restaurants go. Treat yourself and make reservations at Pujol and Quintonil weeks in advance or you won't get a table. It should be against the law not to eat at those two restaurants. Also had a delicious authentic Mexican brunch at Eno. Hit the Mexican food markets for tacos and sopes, and you just had the most delicious food trip of your life. Definitely would come back.
"Falling apart already"
Checked into a pretty room and got a great room-service burger. Then things started falling apart - the toilet wouldn't flush, the shower wouldn't drain and the door lock wouldn't work - almost missed my flight. The W looked like the most expensive hotel in town when I was visiting and so I expected a top notch experience. The atypical room brought some advantages, but having a window in the bathroom meant that the living room was dark. Spanish style breakfast by Jose Andres was nice! Should've stayed at the JW next door though.
