W New York Times Square hotel is ideally located, in the Theater District, just steps from the ball drop, Broadway shows and shopping of Times Square. Sultry downtown and renowned museums are just a subway ride away.
"Last minute NYC trip"
Great Times Square location and close to various theaters, restaurant and shops. Small lobby and chic petite comfortable room. Good value and excellent hotel to rest after dinning, shopping and theater.
"Last minute booking, Fantastic!!!"
Booked this last minute through expedia as our previous booking did not work out. Chose the pre-pay option which made for an easy check in although Expedia reversed my first and last name. From the arrival with the informative valet and doorman, up the elevator to check -in....seamless. Our arrival agent was friendly, personable and also very informative. Everyone observed the 5/10 rule throughout our stay. The room was spacious for Times Square with a partial view of the Square. The room was immaculate and as a former hotel inspector I know waht to look for. A quick brunch on Saturday in Blue Fin was amazing.. spicy bloody mary's and the food were on point. Even our bartender, who was very busy, was again personable friendly and very accommodating. The Blue Fin had a nice vibe without feeling touristy and it was not overpriced for the quality, setting and service. When we checked out he next day the same desk agent could not have been more friendly and accommodating. When he checked our bags for later pick-up the same.... informative, friendly and so genuine. When I encountered one of the staff in the elevator on the way to Blue Fin for a brunch cocktail he was friendly and engaged in conversation. The close of out trip was another great encounter with the valet.. IT is obvious there is a real service culture in place here at the W Times Square. All of my group felt the same and we are very eager to return. I will most certainly recommend.
"great location - no coffee in the room"
This hotel is in the heart of Time Square. It is a very hip hotel but that didn't bother us. The room was spacious and nice. Two negatives: no free wifi and no inroom coffee. Neither of these things would stop me from visiting again because the location and quality of the room can't be beat.
"Small but trendy "
This place is really nice and I usually stay there when I am doing business in New York. It's really close to everything. The only downside being in NY is its smaller than a lot of hotels when it comes to the room sizes but that is to be expected
W stands for wretched at the first W hotel to fall short for me. This Times Square property lacked the usual welcome. Its garish, deafening music 'living room' led to the elevators and my room. A lovely view of the windows of the adjaecent office buidling. The climate control did not work in the room, front desk explained the two-pipe system could not be adjusted and setting for cool just brought more hot air. I roasted and could not sleep. The servers were rude at breakfast and I skipped it running late. The hotel manager offer me some minor hotel point compensation, which I refused as not good enough, but he posted them anyway as this gesture ended the matter for the hotel. My advice is run away, stay somewhere else. This was one of my worst stays ever in many decades of travel. Was not just me, fellow guests in elevator and lobby were complaining loudly as well. W Times Square certainly did its best to disappoint.
