Ideally located on the very exotic island of Fesdu in the North Ari Atoll and surrounded by the best-known dive sites in the Maldives, the luxury playground is just a 25-minute seaplane ride from Male, the nation’s capital and location of Ibrahim Naseer International Airport (MLE).

"Very beautiful hotel. An extra mile of caring would make this a perfect resort. "
We stayed three nights in the Spectacular water villa and two nights in the Fabulous water villa. This hotel is the most beautiful place I've ever been to and we are extremely thankful for the nice weather for the duration of our stay. However, we had a bad experience at the Fire Restaurant (buffet). At our first night, I was having a huge migraine and my medicine required me to have food in my stomach before taking it. As we were at the restaurant at 6:15, we saw most of the food was already displayed. I asked the staff if I could eat some fruits first and explained my medicine situation. They gave me a firm 'no' answer since the restaurant opens at 6:30. I told them I feel really nauseous and they did not show any signs of care and instead laughed and smirked at me. On the other hand, we really enjoyed Fish (the other restaurant). The Sri Lanka crab in XO sauce was extremely good. It's a pity that the restaurant only opens for dinner. It sits by the sea the guests cannot enjoy the beautiful sea view. It is already pitch dark when it opens at 6:30. The water sports in W were very fun and we went to parasailing, jet skiing, sea bobbing and snorkelling. However, we went to dolphin cruise and didn't see any dolphins. We went to sunset fishing and big game fishing and didn't catch any fish. It was really disappointing for us. As these activities are very costly and there's no guarantee of anything, I recommend to think thoroughly before. Karen was very nice to offer us a 10% discount for fishing since we didn't see any dolphins during our dolphin cruise. Breakfast gets really boring after three days as it offers identical food everyday. There should be some variety. Also, housekeeping should be more consistent as at some nights, no one did the evening cleaning. My boyfriend and I both agree that this is a very beautiful resort. But if the staff could show more care it would have made our trip perfect.
"Beautiful once In a lifetime area of the world "
We were there for 5 nights. Forst night we were in a beach room which had a useless 2nd story with a swing couch. I assume you get the second story because you realize how crappy that location is compared to an over the water villa which we switched to for our last 4 nights. That room was magnificent with a glass cutout in floor that someone can take a picture of you swimming under your villa if you happen to see fish swimming which we didn't happen to. From the pics I posted below you can see how gorgeous the view and private deck and pool area are. The beach villa was private but beach kind of ugly and no nice view from villa inline over water villas. We were unimpressed with food for the most part. I don't mingle getting ripped off but sushi wasn't in menu and they ended up charging us 12- USD for a piece!! Not a roll!!, so a 10 piece tuna roll of sushi was 120-USD! That is exorbitant for anywhere in the world especially for mediocre sushi. This isn't Nobu. The fruit st breakfast wasn't fresh and the coffee wasn't drinkable. On the good side, The staff and service was amazing ( outside the dinner restaurant) and they couldn't do enough for us. We were also blurry upset that they didnt post anywhere on their website that their night club was closed for renovations as online people say they went there because it had the only night club at a upscale hotel in the Maldives. Frankly, if there wasn't a night club I would have gone to the St. Regis. See pics below and decide for yourselves. Wherever you end up, it should be added to your bucket list as there is no other place we have been to quite like this but not a place to go to if you are thinking about how much you are spending.
"A unique and wonderful resort experience "
After a four hour flight from Singapore to Male you are whisked away from the airport to a private lounge near the seaplanes to wait for your 25 minute flight to the W Maldives. You notice immediately the care and professionalism of the staff and that will continue until they wave goodbye from the dock as your plane departs. This was our second visit to the hotel so we requested the ocean facing over water bungalows with private plunge pool and outdoor shower. Beach and ocean are great. A walk around the entire island is 10 minutes and a visit to the spa is a must. Breakfast at "Kitchen" is the best way to start the day, lunch was usually at the pool and dinner at "Fish" with a drink next door as the sun sets is a perfect day. A great discovery is dinner outdoors at our bungalow which we did three of the six nights. We have spent more than 300 nights at the best places in Hawaii but the W Maldives tops them all for service and a truly unique location. I suggest at least a five day visit. Island is small and you will spend a lot of time with your significant other!
"memorable stay in W maldives"
arriving male by SQ from Singapore very late, then 1.5 hour speed boat. we got to the hotel around 1.30 am. exhausted, greeted by several nice staffs. by buggy we were escorted by very nicebutler directly to our fabulous lagoon oasis villa.. without fuzzy muzzy check in procedure, amazing clean room with spectacular view. as this is my second time visit in Maldives, and my first time in W , I found the hotel is definitely clean, modern, chic with the ambience of luxury. The Restaurants. FISH, I tried the lobster grill in Fish, nice restaurant, very nice service of the staff, the manager... booked us nice cabana table... the food was great.the next evening, we ordered crab with XO sauce which was super delicious!.. couldn't find else where.. super nice.. they even gave me the recipe... nice hospitality from the staff there.. they really want to know how we felt about the dinner... The small bar next to Fish is a cozy bar with a very welcome staff... the dee jay Ivan was super nice when we ask him to play '90s songs... well, he didnt have many 90s songs,... but he managed entertaining us the next evening by burning some mix 90s song!!!... on the day we left he sent 2 cd full of 90' songs to our room.. How nice!!! The Kitchen,... for breakfast every morning... need some more option on the menu... but one night we met one of the cheff, Herry,.. he offer us a special menu for us for supper, the Pork Belly... and it was supperrbbb!!! the activity,.. we rent 1 hour private dream speed boat ... a nice trip... and the 1.5hour sunset cruice is a must do... amazing sunset... We have to skip the scheduled local island trip... because of the heavily stormy rain which hasnt stopped from the night before.. the next schedule was gonna be the day we leave.. which we wont have time to join... but the W staff arrange us a private local island trip on the day before.. so glad!! before,.. my impression was a small resort as it is in the smaller island comparing my first visit in the other resort in dhigu maldives last year, which has more option of restaurant, but W has personal touch of the staff kindness and that make our stay memorable. they even sent me a bottle of champagne after i complained about the sound of the speed boat i heard in the morning. Thank you Rafael, Ali, Ivanand my butler ( forgot his name )and alll the staffs for making our stay unforgettable.. will be back for sure..
"Commercialised but good snorkeling"
My husband and I went to W Maldives for our minimoon. We stayed in a water villa facing the lagoon and was able to snorkel right from our villa. W Maldives was a fantastic resort, but we found the service lacking - maybe because we experienced exceptional service at Lux Maldives which we stayed at right before travelling to W Maldives. Some of the service staff we've met at the restaurants were not helpful, and there was even once a member of the staff leaned against our table and started chit-chatting with another staff right in front of us. For two days in a row at breakfast, the soy milk bottle was wrongly placed in the container which was labelled "full cream milk". On one day when we went earlier for breakfast (7.45 am), we found that the food was cold and had to ask for the food to be heated up. We later realised that the kitchen staff had forgotten to switch on the heater for the food. We also met an unfriendly lady working at the dive centre. She was the only person with a foul attitude which we encountered during our stay in Maldives (both at Lux and W). However, we did have the good fortune to meet Hassan Xahir (boat captain) who made our stay at W truly memorable. When he saw that we had a lot of gadgets (gopro & drone) he offered to help us take photos while we snorkel! Because of him, we have many nice videos and photos - the best souvenir. His hospitality also made us feel very welcomed during our stay at W. THANK YOU HASSAN! Despite the lacking service, we would recommend W Maldives for its amazing reef. While snorkeling, we saw many colourful fishes, sea turtles and even sharks!
