"Home from home "
I mentioned that I was getting over a cold and later when I got back to my room, waiting for me, were chocolates with hot tea, fresh ginger, mint and honey along with a hand written get well card. Where else do you get service like that' Guiliana, the concierge and the bell staff deserve a special mention. Nothing was too much trouble and at least 5 of the staff greeted me by name during my 4 day stay having only been told it once. Looking forward to my next stay!
After 14hours flight we expected a warmer greeting. The room (corner room) would need renovating and fixing ,e.g, the doorknob of the restroom was broken. The restroom smelled cold smoke and it was really unpleasant. The pool on the roof is really nice .
"Don't expect much as spg elite"
I'm a lifetime spg platinum. My first stay here they didn't upgrade me at all. They sent me a survey and then the management followed up asking how I liked my stay. I asked if I got an upgrade and they admitted I didn't. They didn't offer to make it any better. Since then I've been staying at the Sheraton down the street. The Sheraton at least acknowledged my 10 years of loyalty to Starwood. I won't be back to the W. Smart bet is they will be a new hotel chain soon and turnover will come. No respect for those who have concentrated their stays at spg.
"Nice hotel - arrogant service at pool bar "
All in all great hotel with some deficits. + Very nice welcome, friendly staff at checkin + Nice room, view, location + Great restaurant (Osaka) - arrogant, unprofessional and rude staff at pool bar - rooms could be cleaner
"Overall good hotel but with some caveats"
My wife and I spent a little over a week in Santiago and opted to stay at the W as our home base. First the hotel is located in the business district which means it's not close to many of the sights of Santiago but that was never an issue for us as everything was just a short Uber ride away. Check-in took a while, not that there were a lot of people but the 2 staff seemed very slow in processing check-in or check-out... There was a 3rd staff who just seemed to look around but who made no effort in trying to help the line of customers waiting. Our room was great and spacious, the layout was a bit odd and didn't quite make good usage of the space but it was clean and nicely appointed. Our room had a terrace which was nice however is was sparsely furnished and could use better furniture - how about some kind of couch' The choice of restaurants and bars in the hotel is excellent with many options available every night if you don't feel like going out. Service is however very poor and slow in particular on the rooftop bar. Even though there were barely any patrons in the afternoons, it took a very long time to order or get our drinks. We only got to use the pool once and it was very nice. Overall we had a pleasant stay and will likely choose the W Santiago for our next stay but service could and should be better for this class of hotel.
