Perfect! Arrived very early after a morning flight. Totally did not expect to be able to check in. Thought we would drop our bags, go for a walk, grab a meal, shop and return in the afternoon. Which is the case for most hotels and what we usually do when coming to Hawaii. We waited barely 10 minutes. After a long flight, it was great to be able to get into the room so quickly. This is a small hotel, by Hawaii standards, (297 rooms) and was heavily booked, so it was a lovely surprise. Kudos to the staff. Room was a good size with a tiled and carpeted floor. Had both ocean and mountain views. A small lanai. King size bed. Very comfy. Decent size TV. Good wardrobes and dresser with drawers. More than enough space for clothes and shopping. Office desk and chair. Lounge chair. Bathroom had a full-size bath with shower. Good lighting along with lovely amenities. Lots of space for cosmetics and toiletries. Hotel has a gym (never been!), pool and a designated smoking area on the 8th floor. Rarely see anyone in the pool. Almost feels as if it’s your own private area. Breakfast was part of the package. Served in Nobu Restaurant. Generous buffet. Ideal location. Across the road from the Halekulani Hotel. Denny’s on the corner. Roy’s on the opposite corner. Lewers Street with lots of restaurants and shopping, around the corner. A quick stroll (5 minutes) out the back entrance of hotel, through the Sheraton and Royal Hawaiian arcade and you arrive at the main drag of Waikiki – Kalakaua Avenue Best attraction for me is the beach access. 1 minute walk if that. Walk out the front of the hotel, with your towel, beach mat, and lilo all provided by the hotel, walk across road, down lane way and there is your own (almost) private beach. Only small but not many people. Huge banyan tree for shade. Lovely sand. Flat water. Great swimming. Excellent. Everything about the hotel is fabulous. But I think it is the staff who make the stay so enjoyable. Always courteous and friendly while being very professional. Very helpful. Everyone. From the Manager, to the Reception Desk, to the Concierge, to the bell boys, to the cleaners. Everyone. Did not encounter anyone who wasn’t fantastic. From 14 December to 25 December the hotel celebrated 12 days of holiday bliss. Different activities and experiences every day for guests. These ranged from a ‘dive-in’ movie by the pool, Christmas tree ornament, surfing, bingo, painting, sweet treats, trolley ride to see the famous Christmas Lights to a Merry Mingle. Guests met in the lobby for drinks and nibbles (unlimited, delicious and fabulous), lucky door prizes and a visit from Santa (he was gorgeous). What a great idea. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Lots of photos taken. But they are yet to appear on the hotel’s Facebook page. We also received some small gifts as it was our wedding anniversary. Thank you. A delightful and surprise. Now for the bad news – the hotel is closing for renovations sometime in 2018. Looking at turning rooms into suites. Will be closed for at least 12 months. I love this place so much, I intend to return if it isn’t out of my price range after renovations are complete. I love this place so much, I really shouldn’t recommend it as everyone will probably try to book it. I love this place so much, I intend to return December 2017. If I can get a booking!
"Adequate, not inspiring"
I did a bid on Priceline and put in the filters for Waikiki, 4 stars, and was sure I'd get something on the beach and this place snuck through. I was not happy because I paid more for it in a bid than the hotel offered on it's website. Super disappointed in how that turned out! I didn't hate the hotel, but I didn't like it. It is removed from the beachfront hotels and you access the beach through an alley. The atmosphere is very modern in the lobby but the rooms are sorely in need of upgrade. There was a funny smell of sewer from the bathroom. You can do better. I broke my own rule and didn't stay on the beach in Waikiki. If you are going to Waikiki, do yourself a favor and stay on the beach!! If you can possibly afford it, pay for an ocean front room. It is such a beautiful and unique place that one doesn't get to often enough, so just suck it up and pay for it. You won't regret it.
"Great Centrally Located"
Enjoyed our stay here. Comfortable, clean. Friendly, helpful staff. Todd the Concierge was extremely helpful. He even got us a reduced waiting time at the Cheesecake Factory. Central location. Wi-Fi included. Would definitely come back again.
"Really good location and helpful service"
We stayed for a week between Xmas and New Years. our room was not ready but the staff kept us informed and looked to speed up the process caused by late checking out guest.we were able to put our bags in storage go for walk around wonderful Waikiki and then come back with all sorted. We found the staff efficient and all willing to assist us from the front desk staff, the teams in the breakfast room and especially the concierges and the activities coordinator. The rooms were sound without being luxurious a little weary but the location behind the Halekalani meant that we have ocean views and also able to gain access ( and room charge cocktails and meals at the Halekalani. The hotel was easy walk to shops hotels and bars. we just wished we could have stayed longer.
We stayed in this hotel only for a night as our other hotel was booked out but I can say that I wished I had stayed here for the whole 7 days I was in Waikiki. The customer service from this hotel was amazing, the room was modern and nothing seemed to be a problem. The view was pretty stunning in the afternoon as I sat on the balcony and watched the sunset. The hotel was tucked away in a back street but still had beach access to a part of Waikiki. It was like having you own private beach as it was away from the busier section of Waikiki. This hotel was also close to a few restaurants and most shops. Would stay again if I had the chance.
