It is a very good hotel, no serious complaints about anything; but not excellent. It does not seem to be as great as Hilton brand.Comment of T. Jandhyala BG , India the 2015-01-23
Considering that there were over 300 high schoolers from across the country and the world at the hotel for a Model UN conference, everything went remarkably smoothly. The rooms were more than adequate although the prices for food at the coffee shop were high. The hotel was also in the middle of renovations which was only a problem in the lobby area with noise and low dust. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay.
Great hotel in the heart of DC. Easy access to many sights and services. Rooms are modern and clean and the staff is friendly. The buffet breakfast is plentiful and the options for all day dining are good for all types of eaters.
"Wonderful guest treatment"
Despite the Washington Hilton being an older structure, and the renovations made a few years ago being in some aspects poorly thought out, the staff of the hotel bend over backwards to welcome their guests and to assure them of the best possible accommodation to all their needs. Chef André Coté and his team prepare wonderful meals which are graciously served, both in the hotel's restaurants and in the Room Service functions, both in-room dining and for in-suite receptions. Room Service Supervisor Paul Fitzgerald and captains Bruce, Vern and Louis, and their servers and bar tenders Eleni, Kirk Wolfe, Song and Chowdhury do an excellent job. The bell captains and bellmen, the package room staff and the Blue Coats are immediate and courteous, as are the housemen and housekeepers ( Kenny and Ella are my favorites). But my highest praises go to Amalia Lozet-McGrant and Matthew DaSilver the exquisite attention they bring to their guests' requirements and desires. Their diligence and caring represent the highest standards of the hospitality industry, and make their clients and guests feel truly well cared for.
They are hosting some kind of event for high school students this weekend and there are hundreds of kids, all over the hotel, on all the floors, stuffed into every elevator. They aren't doing anything you would not expect teenagers to do, but they are loud and in your face at every turn. For the $300+ per night we are paying, this is not a peaceful stay. We complained about the loud groups of kids hanging out in the hallways outside our room and they moved us from our spacious room with a sitting area to a standard (smaller) room on the executive level because "there are no kids on that floor". Guess what, the executive lounge is filled with kids also! I just got on an elevator, 20 kids stuffed in after me, stepped on my toes and yelled back and forth at each other. I'm sure Hilton makes a lot of money on these big events, but if they want adults to patronize them, they have to decide whether they want to be a dormitory or an elegant hotel. Oh, and the free wifi for Hilton Honors members -- very inadequate (maybe because the bandwidth is taken up by hundreds of teenagers'''). Disappointing.
