Simply, you will enjoy your stay at the Marriott Wardman Park; the location is incredible. The entrance to Metro is 150 feet or so from the hotel lobby and is without question the best method of transportation in the city (that is if you do not have an preference for Uber or taxi cabs). There are also an impressive diversity of restaurants on the block outside the hotel.Comment of H. Glen , United States the 2015-06-03
"Near the Zoo and Historic Homes"
Accommodations were very nice. Bed slept great! Pillows were down. Everything very clean. People were very nice. Restaurant inside the Hotel was perfect (we had a simple salad we shared). Within walking distance of the zoo and Metro Train. We paid $100 for the night through Priceline. We got our reservations about 1 month in advance. Most nights, you will pay $250-$400 from what we could tell when we got there.
"Easily Accessible Location, Strong Amenities but Poor Service"
I stayed at the Marriott Wardman Park for a business conference in the spring. I highly recommend the hotel for business travelers, families, and travelers who like their hotel to have a corporate parent. I would not stay here if I were traveling for leisure but it was a GREAT hotel for a business conference because the conference was in the hotel. I stayed on the eighth floor with a room facing east and got to see the DC sunrise every morning. The hotel eatery options are tasty if pricey. The hotel is literally on top of the metro stop for the zoo/ Adams Morgan neighborhood. I walked to dinner every night as there are many great restaurants in Adams Morgan. A cab ride to the monuments/ Tidal Basin area was about $20. I did not use the gym but I imagine it was nice -the pool looked beautiful but it was outdoors in March and about 30 degrees one night. The room was very clean and spacious. I was annoyed that I couldn't take a bath because the tub stopper didn't work correctly so I had to settle for showers while there. I was also slightly annoyed by the staff of the Pantry or little deli-style eatery in the hotel; they were not efficient and it frequently lead to long lines and unnecessary waits for your food -hot or cold. Also one should note that the hotel is HUGE with two entrances and long, winding hallways. My business conference was in the massive exhibitor's hall down an escalator off the first floor and in an extensive network of ballrooms and meeting rooms past reception in the back of the hotel.
"Convenient Downtown DC Hotel"
Have stayed at the Marriott Wardman Park several times. Great location, just down the street from the DC Zoo, and around the corner from numerous restaurants, stores, and the subway. In the other direction - toward Dupont Circle, you will find countless eateries, bars, shops, etc. Just a great location. The Marriott is beautiful, and the rooms are modern and updated. The only downside is $50 parking on the hotel property. Very much recommend this hotel.
"Nice hotel, Dorian at concierge is amazing! "
I am writing to express my appreciation for the quality of service at this hotel, specifically their concierge specialist Dorian who offered my husband and I the best customer service the days of my stay at the Wardman Park. My husband travels for business quite often, it's hard to keep busy while he's working. Dorian was knowledgeable of the area, and offered me several options which allowed me to tour the city. She even suggested dinner at Bobby Vans, when we arrived they greeted us with a glass of champagne compliments of the concierge. We were surprised and delighted, no hotel has ever done this for us. Dorian's level of expertise of the hotels layout and additional information of activities offered around D.C. is phenomenal, my stay wouldn't have been complete without her! I will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family, and I’m sure I’ll be back alongside my husband again. I hope to get the same quality of service when I return. Thanks again, Margaret Smith
"Horrid check-in is too nice a term"
I hope by the end if this latest visit to DC I may revise this review. This morning I went to check in with my prepaid reservation. I was told there were no rooms available and they had known for several they could not honor the reservation. Why wasn't I notified' I was offered a room NOT close by. I requested the Omni Shoreham across the street. I explained I needed THIS neighborhood for work. I was told NO take the other hotel with no transportation available or I was on my own! I asked to speak with a manager. After a longish wait, a manager appeared and I explained I needed THID neighborhood which is why I made a reservation at this hotel. I again requested the Omni as an alternative at their expense. (Originally the Omni was booked for this visit however I knew they now had vacancies.) The manager went into the back office and came out with a voucher for the Omni. The time span from walking up to the front desk for checking k in until I received the voucher was 1 hour!!! Meanwhile around me other individuals' reservations were being honored. So let's see what happens tomorrow. Where will I be staying the next three days' Time will tell. Meanwhile Marriott Wardman you need to greatly improved your reservations and front desk departments. And yes, I am a frequent stay member. Future guests beware- confirm your reservation even if it's a guaranteed, prepaid room. Guaranteed means nothing at this property.
