"Easy living in Style"
As I write this I have just completed a three night stay at this rather excellent hotel. My room was of the highest standard plus very quite and peaceful, the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner is just great. The security in the hotel is also very good, you have to use your room key in the elevator and on the security doors on each floor plus of course the room door. It's all done very tastefully but adds a sense of calm knowing that all is secure. Fresh coffee machine in the room plus a kettle to make tea, but also very important is the iron and ironing board, for me this is a very nice touch as I do not pack my clothes very well. Yep.....I'm will be going back on my next trip to Amsterdam. One thing!! There is not very much locally so you will have to get a taxi if you want to go out for the evening, having said that you won't want to go out and leave the hotel...it has all you need
"Overall a very nice stay"
From Centraal Station I took Tram #1 to the Surinameplein stop (could have taken Tram #17 just as easily). Just letting you know, that it’s not like you get off the tram cross the track and bam you are there. It’s a little bit of a haul. You pass some residential buildings walk by a park over a canal and basically to the end of the walkway. One could work up a little bit of a sweat. Just saying. But the walk is well worth it. I found the hotel to be actually nicer than I had imagined. You can tell that they really take care of the place. There are hardly any common areas that are not dressed to the nines. Some of the “decorations” are somewhat thought provoking and some of it is just pure in your face fun. So anyhow, I only had to wait a short period of time before my room was ready. Check in was a breeze and the staff couldn’t had been more friendly/helpful. The size of the room was what I expected. However, having a shower as well as a tub was not (nice). I’m still not sure how I feel about having the toilet in a separate room away from a sink. Bed was super comfy and the amenities were top shelf. The only thing I was somewhat disappointed in was that the room description on Hotels.com stated “minibar”. This was important to me as I like to stop by the local store and pick up a few things (mainly beer) for convenience and costs. In actuality there isn’t a minibar. However, there is a sizable vending machine (see pics) that offer you a number of different drinks. When I called up the front desk to mention that the description said minibar they nicely said that you can keep items in the bottom tray where the items come out. Yep there is a tray just like they said, but wasn’t practical (too small) or cold. The room did have one of the largest room safe I had ever seen in a hotel. And for those who are interested, the cable includes uncensored adult films (channel named Dusk). Kind of a surprise when you are clicking through for the first time. Stopped at the bar on the first floor a couple of times and used the gym. Make sure that you have the correct work out attire. I was scolded one time but the manager settled down the person checking me into the workout room. Overall a very nice stay.
The hotel was one of the best we have stayed in. Very clean and quiet, the beds are comfortable and you get a coffee machine and kettle in the room, the coffee for the machine is filled every day. The staff very friendly and helpful. It's close to the tram and buses and not far from the city. It's also not far from the airport. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay again if we ever go back to Amsterdam.
We stayed a long weekend at the Westcord Fashion Hotel and chose it by review scores, location, room style and size, and of course price. Booking directly with the hotel gave a price guarantee, discounts and early check-in and late check-out, so ticked all my boxes nicely for our itinerary. We thought breakfast was overpriced, as is typical in most quality hotels, and decided to eat out and just enjoy a morning coffee from the in room Nespresso. We're very familiar with the city and are walkers so the location was not a problem for us. 5-10 mins walk to the nearest tram (2 lines), 10 mins to the Lelylaan station for train to the airport (and trams). 10 mins to the Vondelpark and onwards to the city centre area. There are restaurants in the area and a local map is provided on check in, but we went into the city centre for more choice. I would recommend the GVB day-tickets for tram, metro, and bus use in the city. Doesn't cover your airport transfer but pretty much all other public transport within Amsterdam (5 days was €27 and we certainly got our moneys worth). Check-in was welcoming, friendly and efficient. All staff encountered during our stay showed professionalism and an approachable friendliness. My birthday was noticed (presumably from passport details) and a card and complimentary cocktails were provided in the Sky Bar to mark the occasion. Nice touch. The room was bigger than average Amsterdam hotel room sizes and comfortable for 2 people for several nights stay. Everything functioned well, but the dispenser type minibar was unused and a small fridge type would have been more welcome. Shower was powerful and rapidly heated to correct temperature. Wifi was free throughout and of adequate speed for us. I will return.
"Top hotel in a middle rated location"
Top breakfast, top swimming pool, modern furnishings, friendly service, clean rooms, wonderful sky lounge with music, location about 25 minutes from centrum with tram, poor vicinity (no shops, restaurants, bars, 800 m to go to the tram station). Regarding the surroundig was our price (260,-- € /night/room) to high
