"Just not my type of place."
The service was excellent. The breakfast was very good. The decor just wasn't my style. It's not for everyone. I stayed twice in a period of 7 days. The first night I arrived, it was after 11pm. I thought I'd get a bite to eat in the bar, but the environment was more of a disco- too loud to think! I don't like having to use those magnetic keys to open the doors to each hallway, but I suppose that is fire code in some places.
"Well connected - Modern and Clean"
Stayed for 4 days, with my partner. Great experience. The pro's: - Tassimo's in the room - Deep soak tub and awesome shower - Large bed, room large and airy - Friendly, efficient staff - Close to transport connections for Amsterdam with the Tram, and Leylaand Train station for the train to the Airport. The con's: - No jacuzzi! (Being picky)
Arrived at the Hotel after exiting the Tram. A number 1 or 17 will take you on the route between central station and the Hotel. When arriving at the Hotel by Tram get off at surinameplein then you will avoid having to drag your suitcase up a million steps! Its a short walk to the Tram stop and you never have to wait long point to note though they don't run after 12pm. First impressions of the Hotel were : strange location, smack bang in the middle of motorway on each side. The receptionist was totally disinterested in us and continued having a conversation in Dutch with her colleague, very rude. Our room was on the 10th floor opposite the Skky Bar, I was worried about noise as i am a light sleeper but you don't hear anything from the Bar at all. Great Cocktail selection in the bar, great views of the motorway! We were in room 10.07 and its fair to say the room is in need of some TLC. The carpets were stained and there were cigarette burns on both the carpet and the sofas. If you like a bit of privacy when having a shower this is not the Hotel for you. The door to the shower room is glass and faces directly onto the bed. The toilet is located in a separate room on it's own and the hand basin is in the bathroom! The room has a small vending machine for a mini fridge and you need to ensure that reception have retained your card details to be able to use it. The bed was very comfy but the tiny pillows, not so much. We only ate breakfast at the Hotel once on the morning we were leaving to save time 40 euros for breakfast for two is a bit on the step side! although there was a decent selection available. Overall our stay was ok but I wouldn't stay again, I have been to some lovely 4 star hotels and this isn't one of them. I would rate the bedrooms as a 3 due to stains and cigarette burns.
"Loved it! "
My boyfriend and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and we loved it! I thought the Bedroom and Bathroom was excellent, very modern, clean and comfortable. We also loved using the swimming pool (Didn't use the sauna as that was €10 each) But that's no big deal. Breakfast was very nice (hot cooked breakfast and continental) Staff were great. If you want to stay in the centre of Amsterdam, where it all happens - then I WOULDN'T advise to stay at this hotel, but honestly, it's only 20 minutes away on the tram so I really didn't see the problem with that! The tram is very easy to get to, it's a 5 minute walk from the hotel and it's the No.17 you'll need to jump on, it's also something like €7 each for all day unlimited use of the tram and you can purchase these tickets at Reception, SUPER! If I HAD to say one thing to improve on, it would be to invest in double beds :) Obviously we wanted a double bed, but we had two single beds pushed together, but it really wasn't that much of a big deal and didn't affect our stay at all! House keeping was excellent too, we always came back to fresh towels / toiletries and bed nicely made. I really cannot fault this hotel, it's stunning and I can highly recommend this hotel if your at all considering it! If I ever come back to Amsterdam, I will certainly choose The WestCord Fashion Hotel, Thank you!!
"Gorgeous hotel in Amsterdam "
The hotel was amazing. The rooms where spacious, clean and comfy. The bathroom was lovely large shower and bath. The sky lounge bar was a lovely little place for a drink must visit!! There was no food after a certain time to get from anywhere so we walked to a shop not too far away however we did order pizza after we found out this was possible. The cocktails were lovely and the food was that they provided. The hotel is a short tram ride away from the centre around 10 minutes. There is a little square if you get team number 1 on the way to the central we got off here and it was the best decision from bars to coffee shops- the centre is always a little crowded so here you can actually sit down. We visited a few coffee shops past midnight not far from out hotel and they was lovely and relaxed. Can not fault the staff what a credit to the hotel- they made the stay even better! And the hotel has really good security. Amsterdam was amazing as always so sad to be home and will be back to visit soon!! Also try out Europes largest swing over Amsterdam behind the central station gutted I only found out when I got home. It was cold and snowed so make sure you check the weather beforehand!
