""The housekeeping didn't come on our 2nd day""
The housekeeping didn't come on our 2nd day of stay till 6:30pm. That was ridiculously late and we were already back in the room and thus refused the service. This is why I took one star off. It is otherwise nice hotel with good size kitchen, bathroom and living room.
"PAIN IN THE ***SS"
Beware of their promotions. OMG the misery starts with the booking process and its down hill from there . BEWARE! Super Complicated rules, no email confirms, no return phone calls. They turf your call between agents. They offer promotions and then make it impossible to confirm the bookings. Unresponsive. One operator said we should look for an email confirmation in 4 days !
"Disappointing Thanksgiving visit"
We stayed once before 18 months earlier and enjoyed our stay so we purchased an Explorer package and returned Thanksgiving weekend for a 3 night stay. We arrived Thanksgiving night around 6 PM. The young woman checking us in was very nice and said we were lucky because we had been "upgraded". She also handed us an something and said that we had a "gift" waiting for us at the concierge desk. After waiting a few minutes for the concierge to finish up with a previous guest, she took my papers and looked into her computer and then said "I'm sorry, you're not a winner, thank you." That was it no explanation. What a waste of time waiting for nothing. Later when we did the "tour", we were told that we were supposed to receive some discount coupons and they weren't sure what happened or why we were told we weren't a winner, a winner of what we never found out. When we arrived at our room, our room was on the first floor, directly next to the elevators and Mechanic's room. After entering our room, we realized it was a Handicapped Accessible room with a roll in shower. I realize that someone has to get this room but it really was probably the worst room in the resort. Our building was the farthest from the main pool and tennis courts. It was probably a 10 minute walk' We had an hybrid vehicle and the charging station was also so far it wasn't worth parking a mile away to charge our vehicle. Because we were in front of the elevators, people were talking very loud, sometimes yelling all hours of the night while waiting for the elevator. The shower leaked water all over the floor when using it because it had no door and it was freezing because the cold air blew on you as you showered. Think of when you get out of the shower without drying first. We eventually had to pile towels to keep the water from going all over the bathroom. They had what they called Paddle' handles with slide out bathroom door. I don't understand how they are handicapped friendly because they were extremely hard to use. My husband said they were supposed to go up and down smoothly to allow those in wheelchairs an easy way to open and close the door. Instead, we had to pound on them to get them to go up and down. Me and my 6 year old were locked in the bathroom several times. We finally decided after 2 nights we had enough and checked out a day early. We did call and ask to be moved twice but they said they were full and couldn't move us. I did do a survey they sent me and they did credit me 3000 spg points. Other than our bad room, it was unseasonably cold that weekend so there wasn't much to do at the resort because it was too cold to swim. The 2 tennis courts were always full, probably because no one wanted to swim. Honestly, our stay was so bad, we will never stay here again. We had originally purchased another Explorer package but ended up canceling it due to these issues. You would think a place that is interested in selling their resort would put potential purchasers in a better room and location. We had stayed with the intensions of purchasing but this stay definitely changed our mind.
During my stay I had two issues happen that really bothered me. The first was the fact that the pool staff wasn't polite to my children and kept locking and closing the slide and walking away during the hours it was open. My children weren't able to get on the slide while the employees were just sitting around the sun shop doing nothing. The second is the major one. Construction is going on behind building 18 and every morning by 7:00 am you could hear loud beeping and banging ALL day. It woke my children up EVERY morning. We checked out two days early and went to another hotel because of this. When I went to the front desk and told the gentleman why we were checking out his response was, "you have a balance of $48 and we will bill that to the card on file." No apology no nothing! This is not the service you are suppose to get at a Westin.
"westin Palm Springs"
We were just at the Westin Villas for 4 days. Very clean and relaxing. If you don't play golf or tennis, head for the pool. of note, our cleaning lady, Mila, was exceptional. Very kind and friendly. She offered to get anything that would make our stay more memorable. Thank you Mila.
