Amazing location and the best pool ever!Comment of S. Joel , Australia the 2016-12-11
"Wonderful week - best location on Ka'anapali Beach!"
We spent a week in Maui March 1 - 8, 2017, and based ourselves at the Westin Ka'anapali. It was a wonderful location on the most beautiful beach! We were upgraded on check-in to a mezzanine room with a view of the garden - and what a view! waterfalls, flamingos, parrots...The mezzanine (2nd floor) rooms are wonderful because the balconies are much larger than on the floors above. (A compromise because you don't get an ocean view...but check out my waterfull picture!) We didn't actually eat at the Westin (the fancy restaurant was a little rich for us), but it is right next to some of the best restaurants on the coast. We did a catamaran tour on the Hula Girl, and the boat picks you up right at the beach in front of the hotel. Staff were very friendly. We didn't want to valet park, but often the self park was full....in which case they give you valet parking for free! There is a shuttle to Lahaina in front of the resort that takes you to three different destinations in the town: the old town, the mall (where the Old Lahaina Luau is located, and another stop we didn't get too. It is very convenient if you don't want to drive or take a taxi. We loved Maui and would stay at this Westin again.
"Nice place for first stay in Maui"
Beautiful location in Lahaina. We booked adjoining rooms with double beds in February; they couldn't accommodate us upon arrival and offered a room with a king bed and a rollaway down the hall. After much discussion, they said they would waive the rollaway fee and, after more discussion, they agreed to move half our family to another room on a different floor the second day. I was disappointed that, after 12 hours on an airplane and a 2 hour wait for a rental car, we ended up spending way too much time "negotiating" for something we had already booked and, ultimately never got. Price was high but average for resorts in the area . If you want A/C, close the slider-can't have fresh air and A/C together! LOTS of kids, which we expected but the adult pool was plenty big and next to a bar. Loungers go fast...we had to get 6 together by 8am. Beautiful grounds, flamingos, waterfalls and very convenient to Whalers Village.
"Terrible hotel - checked out early and moved to another hotel"
We booked this hotel for 4 nights for spring break with my kids. We booked a "deluxe ocean view" room. When we went to check in, the reservation had been changed... not by us. So it took us 30 minutes to sort it out and get the room we booked. And it turned out our deluxe ocean view was of a parking lot, trash area, shopping center and construction zone. We had a view of the ocean if you walked on the small balcony and peaked left. Our room had a pull out sofa for the kids. We had to call housekeeping 3 times to get pillows and "blankets' for it. They brought us 2 duvet covers with no comforter inside them. When the room was made up the next day. They did nothing to the sofabed. They also nickel and dime you here. Not only do you pay a resort fee (which I know is common at a lot of hawaiin hotels) but they also charge you for umbrellas and chairs at the beach. Its ridiculous. They also have some weird card/towel exchange program. I guess so people don't steal their towels. But they are cream and ugly. Who would want them and who cares. The bathroom in the room had mold all over the shower faucet and tub. It was really gross... The bed was so uncomfortable that I barely slept and my back hurt. Not so heavenly this bed. It's a big hotel so there is nothing that can be done about the crowds. But it is ridiculous. It is so over crowded. The staff customer service is terrible. They don't care about the guests. I had a waiter knock my daughter over because he was rushing so fast to get somewhere. After two days, we checked out and moved hotels. Do yourself a favor and skip this hotel all together.
While the resort is located on a beautiful ocean front on the Pacific, this hotel is highly overrated and overpriced. The hotel limits guests on the air conditioning allowed in their rooms, so in many cases you are better sleeping outside. The staff is unresponsive and unapologetic. It took 3 separate calls to get my room air condition fixed. The staff also provides misinformation to guests. Not worth the price for a room. Better properties, such as a Marriott location, can be found on the property. Not worth the cost of the room! Only reason I gave it a 2 was the koi pond and location are good.
"Relaxing vacation spot"
This resort is aging fairly well, but may be getting close to needing a facelift. The pools are very nice, the service is good, the food is good but pricy. Amenities available are lounge chairs, towels and poolside service. Right on the beach in Ka'anapali, there are other activities available such as surfing lessons, snorkeling, and boat rides.
