"We had a wonderful time!! "
The flamingoes, fish and swans were so special. I could sit and watch them for hours! The staff were really kind, in particular we had a waiter named Tylerbrad at the relish bar. He was very hospitable and friendly and made our stay even more enjoyable :) big thanks to him
"20th Wedding Anniversary Trip"
This resort is fantastic for so many reasons. The rooms are a good size and the bed was super comfortable. Checking in was very quick and smooth. The restaurants on site are really good. We spoiled ourselves by renting a cabana by the pool for a few days. Wow! It was totally worth it as the Maui sun can get really hot. Whaler's Village is about a five minute walk down the beach walk. There you'll find great shopping from: Quicksilver, Sephora, Tori Richards and many more. An ABC store is there also for all the items that you forgot to pack. The resort is busy but there's plenty of room for everyone to have an awesome vacation! Can't wait to return!
"Subpar Tourist Resort"
As I write this I'm in our room on the old un-remodeled "ocean view" room listening to a piece of large machinery working construction outside our room at 7:10 in the morning. It would have been nice to know that construction was going on so we could have moved to another side of the resort. I knew I was in resort hell when it took 45 minutes to check in. That's even being a SPG preferred plus member. No love for lower loyalty members. Everywhere on the resort is lines and more lines. My recommendation, don't stay here if you don't have to. Our friends were getting married here so we kind of had to. The room itself was ok and the bed comfortable but the bathroom was super dated and the faucets and shower had lackluster water pressure. The pools were nice especially the adult pool since there were no children allowed up there. The wedding itself was on a grassy area just off the beach and very nice. There's a upper scale shopping center next door to the resort with a decent coffee shop and the restaurants next door were tasty as well but the best part of the resort was leaving and exploring some of the other parts of Maui where there were less tourists. I was going to give the resort 2 stars but my wife said to give 3 since the wedding venue was nice.
"A perfect place for a getaway!"
We spent a full week at this hotel and had the time of our lives. We've been to other islands in Hawaii but Maui is definitely our favorite and this hotel made our experience even better! Be sure to get a Premium Ocean View room, it is very much worth it! We paid roughly 500 USD a night and we could not have been more happy with what we got. The room in itself is not the most updated one, but the view makes it all worth it, and the bed is truly Westin quality. The adult-only pool does not have that many spots available and we saw kids there at times which was a bit annoying since the entire resort is kid friendly and we were hoping to get some peace and quiet there. We also reserved the private cabanas which it's worth paying for, we spent a whole day relaxing and the hotel brings you fresh pineapple and cold water often, so the service is also better. This hotel, as many resorts in Hawaii, is very busy - breakfast is busy, lunch is busy and dinner is busy :) They do not have lounge for SPG Platinum members, which was a bit disappointing but a big deal. Beach in front of the hotel is also PERFECT for swimming, which made it all even better.
"Very Disappointed - Not up to Par with other Westin Properties"
We booked our family vacation to this resort over he summer for early October, and were expecting it to be similar to other Westin resort properties we have stayed at in the past. Upon arrival, we immediately ran into large crowds of people and a 45 minute wait to check in. Once we got up to the room, we were very disappointed...the hallways and rooms are dated and very tired. The carpet was stained with bleach, and the room was very small. Throw in the window A/C unit and it would have been a Holiday Inn. The bathroom shower even had mold from lack of maintenance. I am not sure if the photos online are of select remodeled rooms, but they definitely didn't look like the room we were assigned. The whole property was crowded from the lobby to the pools, and restaurants. We couldn't even get lounge chairs. As we later found out...the property has over 700 rooms, and according to the bellman it has among the smallest sq footage of common space per guest of any resorts on Maui. My family, children and I were extremely disappointed, and will definitely never be returning again. On the positive side...the beach is georgeous, and we definitely enjoyed swimming in the ocean and walking along the esplanade.
