"Loved it "
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful 6 days here. Fortunately for us, it was not crowded, so there was no problem getting seats by the pool. Sometimes we even had the pool to ourselves. We ate every evening at the resort. We had one dinner at the more formal restaurant, but the others were all at Restaurante Brassa Grill. This is right next to the beach, and we got the same table each time. Most nights our server was Jesus Motero, and I can't say enough about how wonderful he was! He made each evening feel special for us. When the wine we ordered was not available (two different times) , Jesus and his manager helped us choose good replacements. The manager (sorry, I don't recall his name) even went to the other restaurant to see if they had a bottle of what we ordered. No worries, we were happy with the second choice. When Jesus was working poolside on our last night, the manager took great care of us. Everyone from the hostess desk (Jennifer Ventura) to the waitstaff and Manager were terrific. The menu was also exceptional. There was a surprisingly wide selection, including Dominican specialties, so we got to try local food as well. All of our choices were delicious. Actually nearly every staff member we met was very friendly and helpful. They really made us feel welcome and happy to be there. We did use the shuttle a few times. Other than restaurants, there wasn't much to do at Punta Cana Village, but we did take advantage of the supermarket for some wine and snacks for our room. We also went to the Indigenous Park, which was free to Westin guests and on the shuttle route. This was all free and a nice chance to see something different. We also brought school supplies as part of the Pack for a Purpose program. It took us a couple of days to find someone who could find out how to get the donations to the foundation. If you are interested in participating, I highly recommend it, but note that our supplies were given to a high school. I had brought a lot of art supplies that were probably better suited to younger children, but hopefully they will be useful to the older students, too. Overall, our trip to Westin Punta Cana was wonderful. Relatively inexpensive, consistently excellent service. Beautiful accommodations. Great pool area. Terrific food. Highly recommended!
"Stayed here because of American Airlines could not start the plane"
We stayed here one night because AA had to cancel a flight. Fortunately they had room for all 200 passengers at the last minute, which tells me they must have had a ton of room. We had a nice buffet at 8 pm, especially considering they did not have much time to prepare. Our room was Ok but we could not increase the temperature above 68 degrees F, even after we had a repairman work on it. We opened the doors and let the humid air in, and because the room was so cold, it fogged every mirror in the room. We did not get there until about 7pm and had to leave the next morning at 4 am for an early flight. So we cannot really comment on all of the facilities since it was dark when we got there and when we left. Our room overlooked the pool and there was a lot of noise. Do not think we would choose to stay here if there were another choice. It was not nearly as nice as Excellence El Carmen that we had stayed at the previous 7 nights.
"So much for being SPG gold / or yet alone a guest"
We are currently staying here and let me just start out by saying that if you are a SPG member they don't care one bit. All the SPG hotels we've stayed at they've all offered 2 welcome drinks for both my boyfriend and I and this only offers 1 (even that wasn't really a big deal really) The hotel itself is beautiful (all the floors are SUPER SLIPPERY) but don't expect them to accommodate you for anything. Whenever we stayed at a SPG hotel for my birthday, every hotel has done something special. This one doesn't care. We ended up renting a car from the airport and needed a shuttle that they provide FOR FREE and they denied us one to take to the airport. We had to go to the Four Points Sheraton where we stayed before we went there and they provided one for us for FREE even though we weren't guests there instead of having us take a taxi literally 2 mins away. Also, our first night, we got back around 2am and none of our room keys worked and we waited till like 3am to finally be able to get into our room. They didn't fix the issue. The next day I went to the spa (which is AMAZING!! and also gives 50% off a service if you go on your birthday) and came back to the room and the same issue happened again and they took about an hour to fix the key sensor. So every time we need to get into our room we have to wait 30-45 mins to get it fixed. We booked a booze cruise for 2:30 in Bavaro for $56 each and it went to waste because we missed it cause we couldn't get into the room on time. We wanted to use a microwave to heat up some bomb udon noodles but they didn't let us even use the microwave downstairs (the room did not have one; but the Keurig sufficed for boiling water I suppose) The hotel itself is great! But their service is not what you would expect from a Westin Resort. I would not stay here again for a special trip I suppose.
"Enjoyed our stay in this lovely resort"
We were the high bid at a charity auction and a four night stay at the Westin (with airfare included) was the prize. Many of the popular dates were blocked out, but we were satisfied with the dates we were able to arrange in May and found the area a lot less crowded at this time. We were greeted with such warmth and friendliness that continued during our entire stay. Juan showed us to our room on the 4th floor with lovely views of the pool and beach from the balcony. I also enjoyed going out onto the open hallway in the early mornings to listen to the birds and watch them fly over the trees. The kingsize bed and pillows were very comfortable; the bathroom had every thing we needed (loved the rain shower) and the cleaning service was great. The usual amenities were provided: robe, slippers, toiletries, hairdryer, in-room coffee/tea, and safe (large enough for my 13 x 9 laptop). We enjoyed the free wi-fi and large flat screen tv that swiveled. The black out curtains kept the bright sun and heat out of the room during the hot part of the day. Our package included a free breakfast, but no other meals. The buffet breakfast was ready every morning by 6:30, which was helpful on the mornings we had to catch the excursion shuttle by 7 am. We enjoyed the wide variety of food and juices available for breakfast and ate in the open air dining area every day. One night we ate in the Anani Restaurant and one night at the Brassa Grill near the beach. The food and service each night was very good. Our waiter at Anani was David and he kept us laughing, so charming. The shuttle service is free and we used this to explore other areas of the resort: the Ojos Indigenas Ecological Park & Reserve, the village shops and restaurants at Four Points. We were able to arrange other excursions at a desk in the lobby area.
"Our Annual Golf Tournament"
We have come to this hotel for the past 4 years... we are a large group that enjoy the facilities and the golf courses around.... this year, my review is net net on service.... management, please note that service at the hotel has decreased tremendously! The beach restaurant is as of a 2 star hotel... lots of personnel but they have no idea what they are doing.... waited for a very long time for drinks and food.... this has to improve! If it wasn't for Manuel, one of your managers, this review would have been a 1/5!!! He did address problems as best as he could, but still needs help on that! The other reason why we might come back and why we DO come back is for your cigar lounge! El Queko is the best place you have at the hotel... Carmencita is simply awesome... she works incredibly well.... rooms are ok, maybe have to update towels, they are a little too used now. All in all, heads up management... the hotel has potential!! Enjoy
