"Nice Hotel, but watch out for hidden Facilities Fees"
The Westin is a nice hotel with all the amenities expected from such. However, when checking out I got hit with a daily unexpected facilities fee. I asked about this and was informed that this was standard for all the amenities offered by the hotel. I'm not sure what these amenities entailed since I didn't get a chance to sample any of them. So when booking through any on-line booking service, be aware that the fees included are not all of the fees at some of the higher end hotels.
"Beware - the fees creep up silently..."
I am less than thrilled by this property. Spent a weekend for leisure. Parking is a hassle unless you valet, which is expensive and results in long waits. Front desk staff is underwhelming to say the least. Check-in is painful and the wait time can be daunting. The rooms show their age. Carpets are worn and there is a distinct smell of dampness. If you suffer from allergies or breathing issues, stay away. The "resort fees" are mandatory even if you decide not to use the internet, newspaper or the "mysterious" facilities. Be careful as you can be in for a surprise at checkout with all the "additional mandatory fees". The concierge line is also a long wait. Overall, this property is over hyped and does not deliver the value. Over priced and an under delivered experience.
"Nice Hotel, not so good area.."
The Hotel was fine, kind of old dated rooms. I don t know why they charge for that "Resort fee', please don t do it anymore, I prefer to pay that fee in the original price of the room, pay a resort fee for an extra nothing! What it is that' and don t tell me it was for the internet because I should have it for free because of my SPG membership. So please change your policy. The hotel is a 3 points...
"Hidden fees are not a nice surprise...."
It's Año SPG Hotel. Yes. Ir's a Westin. Of course. That's why I expected more. My highlights: Location : not good if you go on vacations. The area is quite crappy at night. Not good for walking. Room: OK. A little bit small and somehow outdated. Ok but what actually made me more unhappy': 1- Internet : a complete disaster. Free but slooooow. Useless. 2- Resort Fee: I hate surprises like this. You want to charge a resort fee of $ 20 per night' It's easy. Just increase your room rates by $20. I do not understand this policy. Marriott / SPG people want to grow your brands. Please eliminate disgusting surprises like hidden fees and just give your customers nice surprises.
"Didn't love it"
The hotel is generally nice, and we had rooms with nice views. A few issues we ran into: The shape of the room is strange because the building is a hexagon or octagon, so both rooms we were in had poor flow. We traveled with a baby, and the flow of the room impacted our ability to put the baby in a spot that allowed him and us to sleep well at night. We preferred the Springhill Suites we had stayed at previously in that sense. We ended up surrounding him with curtains to keep the light out as we got ready for bed. We wanted a suite but there was not one available. The other thing about the hotel is that it is just dated. Sure, the beds and TVs are nice, but the carpet, walls, doors, and bathrooms show their age. I think they should do a more comprehensive remodel at some point to keep this property worth the cost. The pool was weak. It is basically a single lane pool.
