"Plush lobby; nice rooms on beachfront hotel"
Difficult for a first timer to choose where to stay, the temptation being either Copacabana or Ipanema beaches, but we chose here, though it was a 40 minute cab ride to those beaches. Nevertheless much to do and see in this location Barra di Tijuca, including a 10 minute trip to the huge Barra shopping mall, and more interestingly, Isla da Gigoia,an islet in a lagoon, offering solitude and old fashioned streets and restaurants which lies behind mainland stores - a 5 minute boat ride away - a must for tourists. The Windsor is one of a number in this chain and with a rooftop pool and bar ( 17th floor), it was very good,as were staff, particularly the helpful guys manning the lobby and entrance, most of whom had good English. Rooms a good size though don't expect a sea view unless you pre-book one.
I stayed with lateral view. The room was very comfortable. We got a router that gave us better Internet access. Food is delicious We loved the breakfast. the staff, the beach with chairs and umbrellas. They made our stay really nice! The pool is on the last floor with a gorgeous view! Taxis right by the door. Beautiful entrance hall.
"Amazing hotel, great location and exceptional staff!"
The staff of the hotel is excellent. Alejandro welcome us at the front desk, with a great and profesional service. All the workers have a smile in their faces and make you feel at home. Special mentions to Marley at the front, Jaqueline in housekeeping, Newton at the beach and the guys making waffles every morning! We hope to come back soon.
"Very disappointed first night!"
I am a client at Windsor Atlântica. So, I chose Windsor Marapendi thinking I would have the same reception. But I was sent to a room that was not corresponding to a room I have paid on the hotel reservation site: “luxury". We arrived late at night. After a long flight, we asked for a meal in the “the luxe double room” that was supposed to be around 29 square meters, sea view, with a desk, plus a table with an armchair. Then, I was sent to a smaller room, with no armchair and table…So one of us would eat standing up. I called the front desk and they said they would send another chair and leave a message to the front desk staff for them to change us to another room. In the morning, there was no contact from the front desk…then I called them to find out about it…They did not know about it…So, I had to explain everything again…so, they changed me to a new room that was supposed to be in accordance to the one I have chosen and paid in advance. Apart from that, everything went very well. The hotel is brand new and room service was very good. I should say they would improve options during breakfast. I did not see options for veggies. It is in a prime location in Barra da Tijuca, in front of post 7.
"Nice stay in Nov while attending conference"
Great service, helpful friendly staff, nice rooms. Across from beach with access to beach chairs and umbrellas. Nice included breakfast with lots of choice. Dinner at restaurant was also nice. About 20-30 min in low-ave traffic to Rio Centro conf centre, cab ride of 40-50R. Takes much longer to get downtown to sites.
