The rooms were very large & spacious. There was supposed to be a mini bar but it was empty. That was fine with us so we could use the refrigerator. The parking garage was nice. We ate at the restaurant as there is nothing else nearby. The food was good & not too expensive. The breakfast buffet is fine. I was very unhappy that they put a $299.00 hold on my credit card for incidentals when we checked in. I felt like they thought their guests were criminals. For this reason alone I would never stay there again. I am hoping this will not be a problem on my next month's credit card bill. Also, the location is not very good. It is located next to EPA but there is nothing else within walking distance. Driving in Escazu around 5-7pm is a nightmare.
I work for the Wyndham brand and it breaks my heart to write this negative review but I am extremely disappointed with the way I have been dealt with and the attitude of the Guest Services Manager Mr. Wagner. I am an employee of Wyndham and work for the Ramada in Calgary, Canada. I am visiting Costa Rica with my wife in December and wanted to stay at this hotel so I could support the company that I work for and avail the benefits and perks of being an employee. Hence, I called the hotel and requested the Guest Services Manager several times to help me make a reservation at an employee rate thru phone and/or email ONLY because our internal system would not let me complete my reservation and I have tried all possible ways but there is a system error which would not let me process my request. They have the rooms available but he kept insisting me to make the reservation thru the system only as it is against the "policy" to make the reservation thru phone or email. I work for the same brand and know that policies are important but not more important than the guest/client and exceptions can always be made in such situations. If this is the way they treat an employee, I do not think they would ever go above and beyond for any guest. I called the hotel thrice and requested them to make my reservation but received a very cold and unfriendly response from Mr. Wagner. I also requested to speak with the General Manager of the hotel but was told that he is not available. I also mentioned to him that I will be providing him with the "Employee Discount Voucher Form" at the time of check-in which will be duly signed by my General Manager but he still did not agree to make my reservation and asked me to talk to the brand customer care. I have worked with various other brands but never experienced this kind of a cold behavior and I am extremely disappointed and upset!!!
"Not what I expected "
Let me start by saying that we were greeted warmer by the taxi driver then the girl that checked us in. We arrived late ( about 10:30pm) and she appeared to be bothered by our arrival. The hotel is located right by the highway, so if you are a light sleeper, ask for a room that's not facing the road. We have made reservations for king size bed and I had printout confirming my choice, when we got to the room it was two double beds. I went back to front desk and asked for king size bed and was told that there is not one king size bed left available in all of the hotel. On bright side, hotel has free wifi so I can complain about my lousy experience.
"Value for money, close to the airport yet quiet"
Value for money, close to the airport yet quiet! Good rooms, good shower, comfortable bed, nice breakfast. We also ordered dinner and it was nice and not very pricey. We loved it and returned to it 3 times...
"Very dated rooms"
The people were very nice. My room was very dated and badly needed updating. It's OK but there are better choices around the airport. Probably Wouldn't stay there again. The set up of the hotel is very sixty'
