"Not Given Room Specified"
Got to hotel after 3pm check in to find that the only type of rooms can were available at the time were handicapped accessible rooms at that time. I had made a reservation at this hotel months in advance. I stressed I wanted a regular room and the lady at the front desk told me that it would be awhile - she could not tell exact or roughy estimate of time - before a regular room would be available. I decided to wait. About an hour and a half later I checked back with her and she told be that one was ready now. Well, the room was still a handicapped accessible room that she gave me and also, in the closet, were someone else's shoes that were left behind. So I was leary of housecleaning at this hotel for sure. Will not stay there again. Oh! There were also people in the middle of the night having an argument in the hallway...so not a restful night of sleep either.
"Great Stay - "
Perfect spot for business or pleasure trip. The rooms and views are awesome, the staff was friendly and the service was great. We even had a nice note from the GM, Nils Stolzlechner, in our suite on arrival. I'll definitely book there again on my next trip to Chi-town.
"Rooms ok but the customer service is poor"
The room and location for the hotel is good. However, the lobby is small for the number of guests. There was only one person at the checkin counter and it took very long to checkin. The biggest issue i had was that customer service is very poor. I had mailed a Fedex which had presentations for my meetings. I called the front desk in the morning to ask for it. They said that they don't have it even though Fedex tracking clearly said that they have delivered it. They checked twice but they still could not find it. I went to the front desk a couple of hours later and asked for it again and they were able to find it in one shot. Meanwhile I had to make alternative arrangements for my meetings. No one ever followed up in the process.
"Superb river views from our suite, a vacation highlight"
We booked a 6mb suite at around $270 per night and it was enormous with fantastic views up the Chicago river and across to the Trump building and the Marina City towers. I'll be honest the valet parking seemed very expensive at $70 per night but then the room was cheaper than I would have guessed given its size and the view ( the river views are from the living area, the bedroom window looks out to the backs of other buildings ). We had thought of splurging out for a room at the Trump but this would have been a waste as the view was one of our vacation highlights. TOP TIP If using satnav to find the hotel make sure you type the address as UPPER Wacker otherwise you might end up on the underground stretch of road that passes under the riverfront hotels with seemingly no access to any of them.
The staff was really helpful and gave great suggestions for food and what to do in the city. The location was great. The hotel was a little dated and the refrigerator in my room did not work. I called down to the front desk to inquire about one that did work and was told I would get a call back. Nobody ever called me back.
