The property owners have rebranded this property as a Wyndham for 3 years now. It is still a lovely hotel and does show some slight age from wear. Great banquet space and proximity to attractions. The hot tub area needs attention though.
"Nice property, well located, good service"
We spent 3 nights at this hotel in San Antonio. It is at one end of the River Walk (not near the main River Walk restaurants, stores, etc) but it is very easy to access that area. The rooms are very nice, nice towels & amenities in the bathroom, bed was very comfortable. Parking is extra ($25-$30/day). The indoor pool and hot-tub were nice. Wifi is available but not free ($10-$15/day) but you can use the computers near the concierge's desk. The concierge (Donna') was outstanding! She arranged a special dinner for us which was very memorable. Breakfast was not included in our package, but the restaurant has a very nice buffet breakfast and also menu selections that are quite reasonable. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay at this hotel and would return.
We stayed for a conference that was at this hotel. When we arrived, somehow the computer had booked 2 rooms for us instead of 2 beds. That was cleared up. Go up to the room and we are at the elevator. Said I didn't like that room because it is noisy and they said they were booked and couldn't move us. OK. 2am rolls around and our next door neighbor is having a very loud fight. Woke us all up. Called for security and it took until 3am to get everything under control including an extremely loud argument with the hotel people in the hallway. No one apologized to the people on the floor that were awoken in the middle of the night. I asked the next day at the front desk to make sure we weren't next to the same people for the second night, I was told they checked out. Still no one bothers to so much as say they are sorry for the inconvenience. Maid service made our beds mostly but didn't even take out the trash or replenish our shampoo. Gave us fresh towels but we had asked them not to. The only good thing is that we ordered room service and our pizza was delicious! Why are you all still charging for internet. La Quinta and all other hotels give it for free. Why do I pay double for the room and we don't get internet or breakfast' Also, the store was closed more often than it was open. In the middle of the day it closed. In the evening 1 hour prior to its stated time, it was closed. I tried to get help from the conceriege. First night she was very helpful. Second night she didn't know what a crepe was.
Just finished my last convention director's job for Texas Association of Journalism Educators. This hotel is a great venue for this type of convention with almost 1,000 high school students and teachers. The staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities suit our conference structure and San Antonio offers great experiences for the students in a safe environment. This was the largest attendance we had had and the hotel staff was up to the challenge. The safety features they have added to the hotel were appreciated by me and the teachers in attendance.
My wife & I recently spent 3 nights with A Submarine Vets reunion group at your resort. The rooms were comfortable & clean. The in house restaurant was enjoyable, especially the breakfast buffet, food was plentiful as well as delicious. Your Hospitality Ambassador Irene was extremely helpful in assisting us with coffee & a bag to go due to an early flight before the restaurant opened. Hats off to her! Please extend our thanks to her for her assistance. We Hope to see her again when we return to the area.
