"Lovely hotel but check your bill!"
This is an absolutely beautiful hotel right on the F1 circuit which, for us, was a must. I booked a king deluxe for 974 AED inclusive of taxes etc in the main hotel with check in at 8 am at an extra cost of 248 AED if available. On arrival we were told that we had been given a complimentary upgrade to a suite and this was available as requested at the earlier time. I was asked if it was ok to add on a security deposit for any incidentals which I agreed to as quite normal procedure. All very efficient. The suite was amazing, stunning in fact with everything you would expect from a high quality hotel. I reiterate it is a beautiful hotel. We checked out early next morning for our flight and all is done on a tablet at reception, unfortunately I didn't have my glasses on me at the time and had I had them would have probably been more alert at 6 am in the morning! However I thought that the account hadn't been adjusted for the incidentals until everything was checked i.e. Mini bar by housekeeping and went ahead and agreed the charges thinking there would be the adjustment. I asked for the invoice to be sent to me by email which initially I did not receive. Having got back to the UK I requested the invoice as I noticed the high cost on my credit card. I received the invoice but it didn't have much in the way of specifics, not even quoting the type of room. I emailed back and asked for a detailed invoice as I was sure I had been overcharged. I received a phone call from reception to say I hadn't been overcharged, I had agreed to an upgrade. I argued that I was told it was complimentary and it fell on deaf ears, he wasn't having it. In fact he was pretty discourteous about it all. I asked for the matter to be escalated to a manager and still awaiting to hear further! Just be more aware than I was!! Our bill ended up at 1640 AED, which to my reckoning is abt £100 more than expected.
"Not so Great"
A very stylish, very modern hotel. Excellent 5-star rooms. Great breakfast. View of the formula1 race track. BUT: staff unfriendly and extremely unorganized. Would not accept any suggestion to improvements. "We are a 5 star hotel, we know how to do this..." A real 5 star hotel is defined by the quality of its staff - there is plenty to improve!
Stayed here for 5 nights on a sunshine break and absolutely loved every second of it - the hotels let down was the Origins restaurant if it had not been for this it would have received a 5. The quiet pool was amazing and the location over an F1 track outstanding. I may consider returning again but I certainly would avoid the restaurants
It was amazing!!!!the service and the best spa i ever had.The view fantastic and the staff very friendly...its the 3rd time we stay there and is really worth every peny of it.Would be staying again for sure
"A very nice stay."
The Hotel is a stunning, modern and well located building. Its approx 1.5hrs from DXB, roughly 350 AED in a cab. 30mins or so from Abu Dhabi proper as it's out on Yas Island. Which is itself very nice for a short break. Only 10 mins from Yas Mall which has everything you need, shopping, dining waterparks and rollercoasters. We stayed for 4nights in a Yas Grand Suite. It was a lovely room and plenty space for our family of 4. Really well appointed, 2 bathrooms, lounge area and big - long balcony. There are 2 pools on the roofs ( there are 2 buildings) one adults only. Both were nice, not amazing but nice enough. We used the kids club a few times, no complaints there either. Fine for an hour or 2, beyond that I suspect kids might get bored. There are no organised activities to speak of, really just supervised play time. The food in the hotel is pricey but good. The indian restaurant was Fantastic. The slight negative would be the noise from the planes taking off from Abu Dhabi and the race cars on the track below (which is very cool but becomes a bit irritating after a few days). We would certainly stay again.
