"Visit for a wedding look round"
I would first like to say a huge thank you to all of the staff here they go that extra mile to make you feel so welcome I felt like nothing I asked was an issue they made my little boy feel at ease and was brilliant, never tried to rush me took their time and overall made me feel like I was at home! But I would like to say a huge thank you to two members of staff, Zoe Barnes - what a lovely, hard working lady so polite nothing was too much trouble and her customer service in selling me a wedding was amazing the contact through email was 10/10 always replied and made me feel so special! Secondly Janet who showed me round again she was amazing and she practically sold me the venue on her enthusiasm for what she had for the Marriott and the kindness she showed I felt I was part of her family and had know her years!! Both staff were incredible and really deserve the highest praise! Unfortunately due to family traveling the venue wasn't suitable but it's a beautiful place inside and out and the staff are that of 5* and nothing less. Thank you for all your hard work and making me and my little boy feel at ease!!!
"family half term trip"
Just back from the Marriott where I went with my Mother and 3 children, 12,9 and 6. What a lovely hotel. We had two interconnecting family rooms between us which worked very well. The facilities were great for all of us and the Spa lovely, even the children were allowed to use it with an adult. All the staff were very kind and went out of their way to help whenever possible. We ate in the Restaurant twice as the food was very good and I had a Tastecard which gave 50% off, making the meal very reasonable. We will more than likely return as the location made it very easy to get into the city centre, (bus stop just opposite).
"One night stop, but by design"
A large hotel that does what it does well. I could not get us 3 nights in a central York hotel of my preference (having booked very late) so settled on one night here and 2 nights nearer the city centre. We were greeted warmly, everything worked well, we had a very large family room and good breakfast. Could not swim as the pool was full, which disappointed the kids but that is not the hotel's fault. It is a little outside the city centre. We missed the bus back, and walked it. 30 mins or so. The staff were very helpful in explaining how to get the bus (much easier than trying to park in the centre).
"Family night away"
Stayed at The Marriott overlooking York racecourse on 12th Feb. Had a lovely big family room with 2 double beds, my two girls loved the room and the swimming pool even more so. If any slight grumble, it was that outside our room on the back of our building was what I think was either an air conditioning or some sort of heating unit which was abit noisy. Would not put me off staying again though, we really enjoyed our stay
Check in not bad. Had booked a suite so expecting really nice room.1 robe was missing and flowers I had ordered through the hotel a week before not been ordered, however they did come next day. There is mould in the shower and on ceiling in shower.Cobwebs in corners and on light fittings that were still there when we checked out 5 days later.Room cleaning very poor as had to ask for room to be cleaned as still not done at 5pm one day, after complaining room got apparently cleaned but when returning to room pillows still a mess and bins not been emptied toiletries missing hovering not done etc. Spoke to duty manager David about this and got told they were very sorry and recived 26pounds off room and a bottle of wine. Really need to update room and train staff better especially the cleaners.Have to say this is the worst suite we have ever stopped in and the coldest as we had to ask for extra heater as well. All in all a big let down when paying a lot of money. Will consider other hotels on next visit to York.
