"Will not use Marriott chain ever again."
I have chosen this hotel for my trip to Zurich only because of the promo-price of CHF 99,50. My trip had to be postponed for 1 week and neither booking.com nor the hotel could change this reservation because of the condition on the "special one off price offering". That is fine, I understand the limitation of the promotion, I have tried to sell my room to another traveller using specialized websites and failed. I called the hotel and asked them to at least give me the points for the stay since I have paid for the room in full and to my suprise on duty manager stated "we don't give points for the bookings made by travel agents". Looks like this is the last ever time I will choose to stay at any hotel of Marriott chain. I will also make sure to tell all my colleagues about this incident and the limitation on the loyalty points system.
"First Swiss Holiday"
Came here on my first holiday in Switzerland and with my partner. The hotel location is great, close to main station and the famous shopping district. Rooms modern and what you expect from the Marriott brand. Overall service was great with really helpful front office staff/concierge. We had access to the executive lounge (adjoins the lobby), which was a great addition to our room. Plenty of food options in the evening likewise breakfast. Which was a great treat due to prices being so high in Switzerland. We got treated very well, especially by the charming young English-man 'Mr David Kempster', he really did take care of us. The Thai restaurant in the hotel cooks some of the best Thai food we have had outside Thailand, they will gladly alter menu items to your requirements. Our first holiday away will always be remembered due to the Marriott Zurich being one of the best hotels we've stayed at. We will definitely be returning in the near future.
"Great location but looks three star"
It is not among the best Marriotts that I have stayed. I have recently stayed four nights at this hotel. The good stuff: Nice spectacular view of the rivers and the northern part of Zurich. It is a 8 to 10 minute stroll along the river to the Zurich train station. Quiet room. Next to the picturesque Swiss National Museum park. Serene setting. Good front desk service in general except one indifferent front desk lady staff during my check out on Thursday morning of 6 Oct. She seemed impatient during the check out process. In contrast, all other staff has been very friendly and highly efficient. Gym is good and well equipped. The less good ones: Outside of the building does not look classy but rather like an industrial company headquarter. Executive lounge is at the ground floor and there is no sense of privilege. Service level during peak hours is much diminished. Some concierge staff look unhappy in their jobs with lackluster greetings and attitude. Suite room is really tiny perhaps due to the location and city.
"Friendly staff, clean rooms, good location."
We selected this hotel because it's only about a 10 -1 5 minute drive to the Zurich airport. We had a rental car and parked in the adjacent garage. It was a bit of a challenge to get from the garage to the lobby as they are not connected by a common elevator. In addition, the front entrance to the hotel has a very small drive up area and no signage indicating valet parking is available. Our check-in was quick, friendly and professional. Our room was located in an adjacent tower which required two elevators and an enclosed bridge to get to. However, the room was very nice, clean and quiet. Check-out was also very quick and they front desk clerk offered to have our car brought out which was very helpful, and the front doorman was also very friendly. Nice place keeping with Marriott quality and service.
"Zuerich City center in summer! "
Although the hotel is pretty old, the common areas have been remodeled and partially modernized! The executive lounge: is unusually next to the lobby at ground floor... unfortunately with view to the street and very crowded... lovely breakfast quality, although not much variety..: afternoon and dinner serving are delicious... had lamb, fish, vegetarian dishes etc... happy hour with wine, beers etc Variety of international newspapers Rooms: pretty small despite upgrade, but beautiful view on the Limmat river Location: excellent to go for a walk to the city center and strolling through the old town "Niederdorf" up to Bellevue (the lake). Here you can enjoy traditional and historical buildings "Zunft haeuser" were you can also have typical swiss dishes such as "Zurcher Geschnetzeltes, Roesti, Fondue etc" Restaurant: they're Sunday brunch is decorated in a lovely swiss way... you can enjoy delicious Fondue! There is also a Thai restaurant "white elephant" with amazing spices and tastes... try the coconut milk soup, papaya salad, spring rolls, fried rice and green tea ice cream... just be careful with the spicy dishes 😉 Negative: very expensive parking Aprox 38chf per day For more tips, photos on this and other Marriotts check out @thejwgirl on Instagram!
