Idealmente localizado em frente ao mar, o Grand Hôtel Palazzo está a 3 km do centro e da estação ferroviária central de Livorno.
The hotel is gorgeous. Old and stately. Excellent service and amenities. Well positioned to explore the Tuscany area. The buffet breakfast is wonderful with so many choices. We dined in the rooftop restaurant - the whole experience was well worth the price.
"New Year's Eve Dinner at Grand Hotel Palazzo"
This is a review regarding a New Year's Eve dinner. I waited to write the review until now to see what the director of the hotel that we spoke to would do who said she would follow up with us. She never responded. It was recommended to us to spend New Year's eve at the Palazzo as they would have a special multi-course meal with lobster and then music and dancing afterwards. To summarize, here are some points on why the evening was bad: 1. We were told there would be parking available at the hotel. We arrived early but the parking lot in the hotel was completely full and there were no free spaces. There was also no attendant to help manage the overflow of cars. We had to find parking on the street. 2. We had made reservations for 4 with our friends. We were placed at a table with 6 other people. We were not told we would be sharing tables. 3. The quality of the food was terrible. The polenta was rubbery. The oysters looked old and smelled off and no one in our group dared to eat it. The lettuce was wilted, and the bread was dry. The food generally didn't seem fresh. The food also didn't match the menu. The menu had lobster for one of the courses but we were never served any lobster. 4. The quality of service was embarrassingly poor. The meat course always came much later than the fish course. Our table never got its food at the same time and some of us would finish their food before the rest of the table even got their food. 5. It was embarrassing that two people at our table still didn't have their food but the main host and hostess who managed the event had their private table in the middle of the ballroom (like a married couple at a wedding) enjoying their meal while we were waiting. Our waiters were inattentive and I had to finally go to the hostess to ask if our food would come. She was not very helpful. 6. The final meat course arrived 10 minutes before midnight. 7. Dessert arrived around 11.55 for some of us (and the ice cream was already melted). 8. The wait staff brought prosecco to our table but not everyone had glasses. I had to ask the host for a glass who thankfully brought a glass literally 1 minute before midnight. 9. There was no one leading a countdown (which is normal for new year's eve). 10. Finally, we found that everyone else at our table had packages where for about €130 per person the dinner was included, plus a room at the hotel, and a brunch on Sunday. I believe there was another package for a similar price for two nights that had everything I've mentioned but also included a spa offer. When we called the hotel to reserve the evening, we asked about packages and offers and no one told us about any of these packages. It was a terrible experience and I would not go back.
"Live Some History Here."
My husband worked in Livorno many years ago as a teenager and he has family in the area. We stayed here for a few days last year, prior to a cruise to Fort Lauderdale. This is a historic building and our stay was absolutely delightful. Our suite was on the second floor, right corner, and couldn't have been more comfortable in every way. Friends who were with us made good use of the marvelous spa. Breakfast was buffet style and plentiful. I'm hopeful that we'll be able to make another visit.
"AN ELEGENT GRAND HOTEL ON THE BEACHFRONT OF BEAUTIFUL LIVORNO"
We loved the Elegance of this really beautiful Elegant hotel which is right opposite the beachfront. This means that one can take a lovely walk which we did all the way along the boardwalk to Cafes and restaurants. We loved our stay here and highly recommend this Grand Hotel. Staff were very friendly as well. Rory & Natalie Wolman ...Cape Town, South Africa
"Probably one of the best"
The room was ok nothing fancy- you could see some flaws here and there. bad workmanship mainly which is typical in Italy. The speed of the internet was unacceptably slow. For the same download of files I needed 5 hours, which took me just 15 minutes in Romania. For ironing service they have a special room in downstairs, not in the room- how medieval.
