I was on my honeymoon and stayed in this hotel for 7 days. It was an enjoyable stay. The rooms are very comfortable. Food is quiet good in almost all its restaurants. For honeymooners they provided special candle light dinner which was well arranged. Only problem we faced was to check out from room at 12 noon because our flight was at 9 pm. Hotel manager told this was because of high bookings. Everything else in the hotel was quite good. I would like to specially thank gym instructors Amjad. He is quite good at his job. He is very polite and friendly. He has maintained the gym facilities in the hotel very nicely.
I've known better place to be in mauritius. used to be called la plantation. was bad then. is still bad service. well its up to you but for me I would try to stay away from that place. there are nicer smaller hotels around.
"Very enjoyable holiday"
Travelled with my husband for 10 days all inclusive having previously been to Mauritius 10 years ago on honeymoon. When we first arrived we were given a room which I was very unhappy with as it was very overlooked and I began to regret booking the stay at this resort. However after much persuasion we did get moved that day a couple of hours later to another room which was much better. I didn't even unpack and settle until we had been allocated another room which to be far was only a couple of hours after arrival. The room itself was large, a family suite as they were fully booked there was not much room for shifting people around. Food One of the main reasons for booking this resort was due to the number of a la carte restaurants available and although I do enjoy buffet and breakfast I would not be happy eating buffet in the evening. We don't stay up late nor do we drink more than 1 or 2 alcoholic drinks per night so the evening meal experience is very important to us. We did manage to eat in the a la carte restaurants every night, 3 X Chinese (Madam Ming), 2 X Mauritian (Kot Not) 3 X Burger (Bistro), 1 X Italian (Tavola) and 1 X Beachside (O). Again not an easy task to do this for 7pm bookings and needed much persuasion. It is annoying that they flaunt all these restaurants yet the max covers for each are so limited that getting in is so difficult. The Italian is not recommended and we did not go back. Pizza bases are not thin and crispy and they pile on cheese to excess despite asking for less cheese. The burger restaurant was very variable, first night buns were so huge it overpowered the burger yet on the last night they were lovely. Mauritian was nice, sometimes lacking flavour but plenty of choice and healthy. Chinese was the best, all exceptional. I must note that first couple of days everything was ruined for me food wise due to the excess of olive oil on the dishes so I then made a note to mention this to the waiters each time and it was lovely thereafter and they made some alterations as well. They are very good if you have allergies and always ask you so no problem there. We often had ice cream for dessert which is very good specially the coconut one. For lunch there was plenty of choice to suit every palate with bbq, buffet and a la carte options. Breakfast was good, not exceptional but enough choice to feel satisfied and content. The crepes and French pastries are very good as is the cereal selection and fruit. I found the bread dry for my liking but they do loads of jams and toppings. I thought the drink choices on the all inclusive were very good. Not sure why some reviewers have moaned about them. Sure if you are insistent on drinking premium brands these will not be included but with the choice on offer I don't see the need. Sparkling wine was very nice, not keen on beer, quite flat and not cold enough which is a shame as beer is my drink of choice. You can get cappuccinos when you want and the afternoon tea with cakes is very good and popular with the English! I would say though that we found the flies unbearable so we ate inside for our meals and it was much better. Resort The resort is lovely although clearly the vegetation is still in progress and the plants haven't quite grown enough throughout. Beach and Pool The beach is lovely and the water was crystal clear and a lovely temperature. If you walk along the beach and look at the other resorts you will see that the beach at this hotel is by far the nicest. The pool was a little cold the first couple of days but thereafter it was perfect and huge so you can really swim properly. Although the resort was fully booked it didn't feel overcrowded. The array of water sports on offer is excellent and you can't really ask for anything more on this front. Gym Not bad with a number of pods with cardio equipment and a weight section as well. They also do yoga twice a week and an abs class every day. Taxis Yes pricey but bear in mind the taxi drivers only do one trip a day and they wait for you which could be up to 3 hours. Return journey of 20 mins away is 1500 MR. Staff Overall very good and as they get to know you it gets better. Yes we often need to sign bills with a zero balance, is this such a big deal' Besides I would imagine this is necessary for stock taking purposes. Overall We had a lovely holdiay, very relaxing, weather a perfect 29 every day with 1 day of cloud and a few very light showers. We didn't get bitten by mosquitos so that is another bonus! Any questions please message me as I would be very happy to answer any questions if I can.
"Well Done Ravenala - a Fabulous Hotel!"
This hotel is outstanding. Rooms and balcony are large. Food was excellent - lots of choice. Everywhere is spotlessly clean. We were on the AI package which included all the water sports and a trip on the glass bottom boat. We hired a car for a day and visited the north coastline and the Botanic Gardens. Also visited Port Louis which was extremely busy. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel you will not be disappointed! A special mention to the lovely lady who cleaned our room - came back to the room one evening to find flower petals on the bed and in bathroom. The flowers are all hand picked from the trees on the complex.
"Lovely 4* hotel with a fantastic all inclusive package"
This is a beautiful 4* all suite hotel situated in the North West of the island, roughly 45 mins drive from the capital Port Louis and 20mins from the town of Grande Baie where you will find many shops, local eateries a casino and bowling alley - definitely a good day out. Restaurants: The Ravenala Attitude has 10 restaurants and guests staying in all room categories can dine in 8 of these as part of the all inclusive plan - 7 if you have children as the Bistro is adults only. Guests staying in the Executive Adults Only Beachfront Suites can also dine at the Sushi bar on the Beach which I must say produced the most amazing sushi I have ever tasted - Ben the sushi chef is definitely a genius!!! Rooms: The rooms are all very spacious and traditionally decorated. I stayed in an adults only beachfront suite which was beautiful with stunning views of the ocean. I would advise that some of the couples and family suites can be slightly further away from the main pool/ building so for me if I was travelling with a family I would request to be closer to the main areas. The family rooms have a main double bedroom and 2 pull out sofa beds in the living rooms which are great as they give the parents privacy. Entertainment: There is always some sort of low key entertainment going on most evenings in once of the bars with live music etc and if you wish to carry on the night once the bars close then After Dark night club is open until 4am. A couple of things we did that I would recommend is the Mauritian cooking class which was excellent and also the Otentik dinner where you get to experience dinner in a local Mauritian home! We went to Vish - one of the Family member (hotel staff`s) home and his mother cooked us the best meal - it really was an experience!! The only one thing that I would say about this hotel is that the beach is not powder white sand, it is slightly shingley but that would not put me off going back again. Over all this is a wonderful hotel for all ages as it has something for everyone and for such a lovely 4* ALL SUITE hotel the price is fantastic!!
