"Honeymoon paradise "
Me and my husband have just arrived back from what can only be described as ... heaven . On arriving at the ravenala we were met by Elizabeth who made us feel welcome, settled and very special ( as it was our honeymoon) we were taken to our beautiful suite . The staff at the beach hut bar - Ashvin, Rusara and Vivek made us feel at home , entertained us no end and made us laugh constantly . The staff inside the main building Ashvin and Maneesh also made our honeymoon something very special with an array of "special " cocktails , 5 star food throughout the day and night . The cleanliness of the hotel and grounds was amazing for such a big place, the staff endlessly work to keep the hotel looking and being amazing Thank you so much to all the people at the Ravenala but especially the people mentioned they turned our 4 star rating into a 5 star . We can't wait to see you all again next year !! We would definitely recommend to families as there are brilliant facilities for children constantly supervised that can be accessed all day and to 11 at night . For honeymooners or couples who want something special the jetty was a beautiful place to end the evening with fantastic food . For anyone who wants a trip to paradise this is the place !!!
The Hotel is exotic. The rooms which you provided were couple suites rooms. This room was worse than a standard room. The rooms had insects all around. The washroom was behind the Bed. The bath tub in the washroom had an opening towards the room without a glass. So bath tub cannot be used as water would get poured out in the room. The mineral water provided by you was equivalent to tap water. The worst part is the distance of room from the reception. I was given room no. 1219 which was easily 1 km away from the reception and i had to walk. So once you are in your room you need not return to reception and to other amenities in the hotel because its so far it feels as if you are staying in another hotel. This is inspite of booking the rooms weeks in advance. We were on our honeymoon but it was more of a boring moon. The food was good. The chefs were excellent. Special mention for Mr. Sing, Mr. Pratap and Mr. Vaqas. Wonderfull food. But the rooms and its location were pathetic to say the least. On making a request all i received was a false promise. Not recommended for honeymoon. Also couple planning a stay please confirm the location of your room.
"Birthday celebrations in Mauritius "
We stayed at the Ravenala in April to celebrate my birthday. The hotel was lovely and I would recommend staying here. Lots of restaurants to visit and although booking system was not the best I've used, generally if you give lots of notice you could get in for evening meals. On an occasion where we couldn't I spoke to reception to check for cancellations and a manager got us booked in. Whilst service at times can be slow (the staff are always working hard and busy) it seems if there is anything slightly amiss management will go over the top to resolve it and make sure you are happy. People do reserve sunbeds with towels however no matter what time we got up we could always find a good spot at the pool or beach. Service at the beach is very good. There are stray dogs around the beach but they don't bother you. The staff will shoo them away if you don't like them near by although they don't make any fuss. We went on some great trips; Catemaran which including snorkelling, waterfalls, on-board bbq and island visit, Botanical gardens (drown yourself if insect repellent before going) and Casela safari park, where we sent inside the lion enclosure to get up close with the big cats!! Amazing experience! Hotel has a doctor 9-4 every day, asked at reception about seeing him as I had a bite that was a bit nasty looking. Took 2 minutes and he sorted it out. Mini bar is strange in the hotel, you have to visit the 'mini bar shop' to get what you want or ring and they'll bring it to your room. I'd much rather water and a couple of cans to be left in there every day. Also there were no teaspoons in the room with the tea and coffee making facilities. Thought this was a mistake on the first day and when I had a coffee at the bar and took it back the room the tea spoon was taken when the room was cleaned the next day. It's not a huge issue but still very odd!
"Wonderful place to stay on a beautiful island"
We stayed as a family of 4 from 31st March for 2 weeks. We were delighted to be upgraded to an apartment which was fantastical spacious. Staff were extremely welcoming and friendly everywhere but particularly the main bar (including Roshni and Gobin) and the ladies who greeted and seated for breakfast and dinner in the buffet restaurant Mozaik. The setting is wonderful, there are lots of activities included at the hotel if doing all inclusive as we did and the beach has a beautiful sunset view. The staff and management really care whether you are enjoying your stay. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. It's friendly, very welcoming for children (ours both under 10) and a snapshot of paradise. I particularly liked the prints and lighting around the hotel... everything so cleverly designed and well thought through. LOVED it! Thank you to all at the hotel for making our holiday fabulous! X
"A closer look is needed"
This is going to sound very moany but it isn't I promise. Stayed here for a week in February during a cyclone (not ideal). The entrance to the hotel is very nice and relaxing but looking closely there are dirty marks on pretty much everything for example cushions which could just be washed which weren't during the week. Online it states it was renovated recently but it doesn't mention only parts were done, walk ways to rooms and around the pool like old and very dirty. The buffet had a very limited choice and had the same options day after day, it was "curry night" every day for a week. There was other restaurants to choose from you had to book in advance DO! This totally changed to experience, the staff in the buffet are very rude feels like a bit of a meat market, where as the restaurants had a different vibe to them relaxed, helpful and willing staff. The room was advertised as a suite which it wasn't but it was a large spacious room which was well designed. The balcony had lovely sea views but birds occupied it most of the time leaving a lot of their business behind and asked cleaners and front desk a number of times to clean it but nothing was done, overheard another couple complaining about the same thing. Sadly due the to storms the lake overflowed into the sea making it unswimable for a day and after that only a certain area was allowed so we didn't get any of the beach bbq lunch or dinner incase of rain and the beach looked more like the colour of Brighton beach than a Mauritian sea. The activities were also unavailable to us. I know this wasn't the hotels fault. But they did give out board games when it was raining which is a very good idea to keep people amused.
