"interesting combination of old/new...."
was found everywhere in this Hilton property. I have no idea when this hotel was built but the sort of terraced effect was somewhat confusing, the stucco buildings all painted a rather odd ochre color also not appealing, nor was the swimming pool area complete with fake rocks and water fall. I think newer units are on the far side of the lobby area, and the older ones surround the lobby, that is where our room was. An honest attempt has been made to remodel these rooms, although the living area of the suite (think all rooms are suites)was very dark, appreciated the plantation shutters, the nice shower (although still an old bath tub), new paint, curtains and flooring. We actually had the best night's sleep in a long time in a hotel room due to the fact you could close the doors from br to living room, there was no white noise at all, no lights from various electronic outputs and it was quiet...no street noise at all...and very dark...due to black out curtains..this excelled more than any room we have stayed in , in a long time. The Different Pointe of View bar and restaurant high above on the hillside was worth a visit, hotel shuttle will take you there...they could do a coffee service in the morning, but this is just a suggestion. Food that we experienced was average. We were also able to sleep w/o a/c or heat...so do not know how loud the heating/ac would be. Interesting property to say the least.
"Not even recycling''!"
My family and I ate at the Pointe in Tyme restaurant and were all given to-go beverages. After asking around for a place to recycle the to-go cups, we found out that the resort has NO RECYCLING!! I find this very disturbing as the other resorts we have stayed at make being eco-friendly a priority, and Tapatio is a big resort! I can only imagine how big it's landfill is!
"Great Valentine's Day in Phoenix"
The hotel and amenities were top notch. The staff both in the hotel and the restaurants were very attentive and went out of their way to be of assistance. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's Day and evening. Excellent!
We decided to celebrate Valentine's at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio. We had a room overlooking the large pool. All of the rooms are suites...we had a king bed which was comfortable. They have remodeled the rooms. The bathroom was okay. The sink is separated from the tub/shower and toilet area by a walk through. We didn't use the pool, since we were just their for the evening and morning. This is a large resort and some of the buildings are quite a distance from the pool and slide area.
"Newly remodeled and nice."
They just remodeled the room we were assigned (paint, carpet, furniture). It looks like most rooms are in a suite arrangement that are pretty large and more than comfortable. The property is sprawling and pretty hilly....we requested a golf cart to get us around. Lots of pools around the property so you can easily get to a pool. Having a car to get around is pretty helpful. The restaurants were pretty good....menu's were seemed unimaginative though. But, Four Stars......large rooms.....has that resort vibe going.....staff are responsive and professional.
