"What a SHAME"
I feel really bad leaving this review because I have stayed at Aldea Thai on several occasions and the issues I will speak of have gotten worse each visit. The good is the location. Literally 155 steps to the sand. 2 to 3 min walk to 5th Ave. The location just couldn't be better. Plus if you get tired of the beach they have a great pool IF ONLY YOU COULD USE IT!!!! I'm not the "get off my lawn guy" but the noise and partying at this place has gotten to the point I won't be back. The pool gets busy around 12 when the 20 something's wake up. Loud, rude, obnoxious slobs. Cups and beer bottles everywhere. And the music is enough to make you lose your mind. It's loud and generally EDM. I just stayed there for 1 week and every night EVERY night I was woken by these drunken parties coming home from the club (I assume). Usually between 3 and 4am. One night a lost drunk wasn't pounding on my door''' Clearly had no idea where he was. I laid there each morning and wondered how people could be so rude'!'! I'm not sure the hotel can really do anything about because I understand these condos are basically all rentals. The owners want the rooms filled for revenue and the property management probably really doesn't care because as long as the place is filled they get their fees. Now if you're looking for a party and stay at a place with a great location then you'll love it here. But if you want a peaceful, upscale, chill vibe STAY AWAY! And definitely not good if you have small children. Sorry!
"AVOID THIS PROBLEM"
This place has +100 different owners leaving a lot of problems for the guests. We booked a junior suite and where downgraded saying our unit booked was sell to a different owner and that there was nothing they could do. The room was next to the pool which has noise all day. Also it was supposed to be a king bed and we got a 2 queen room. Administration is a hassle and avoid this hotel at all cost. NOTHING LUXURY ABOUT IT. We saw a lot of guests having problems.
"Incessant, pounding techno music from the pool ALL DAY."
My wife and I are at this moment sitting in the third floor penthouse unit we have rented for two days (for $430.00/nt., pre-paid in full), with all the exterior doors closed and the central A/C running, and the relentless, high volume, thoroughly obnoxious electronic dance music is STILL pounding through the walls. There is an enormous, fabulously appointed private deck just upstairs, with a lovely, large private pool, but we cannot use it because the music is so loud up there that we were unable to carry on a normal conversation. If your idea of a tropical vacation includes any level of peace and quiet, DO NOT STAY HERE. The location very near the beach is very good, and it's an easy walk to the northernmost several blocks of 5th Avenue (starting at about 38th St.) that still retain the easy charm for which PDC used to be known, but this resort is uninhabitable from mid-morning until 7:00 pm, when (they claim), the horrendous noise will finally cease for the night. We fly home tomorrow, and we can't wait.
"Oh where do I start!"
Location- is good. A little further down from main town but, good location. Grounds- (common areas) as pictured. Pool is lovely. Lots of steps. Room- I think the photos will tell all. Horrible!! When we arrived no one helped is with our bags they just sat there. Reception gave us our key and told us to go to our room and wait for the guy to arrive to pay. We were not given the room we paid for online. We're told we were upgraded. The place was dirty, mold in kitchen, smelled of sewer and mold but the have "Chanel" in the diffuser so they obviously know there is an issue. No black out curtain in living where our daughter was to sleep. Black out curtain in bedroom was not wide enough to cover the window. Cabinet and bath hardware loose or missing. Master TV no remote did not work. Living tv had porn on when my daughter turned it on, she turned it off and we could not change the channel. Patio door lock broken, 2nd lock in front door broken, toilet was horrible and appeared to have crap smeared on the walk by toilet. I could go on and on but, I think the pictures will say it all. We paid cash for first night and by the the grace of god found a wonderful place closer to the action.
"Nice staff, pretty cool penthouse 306 "
When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised to find 2-5 gallon water bottles left for us (one less thing to purchase). The condo is very nice, terrace with pool beautiful. Be aware though, the beds are hard as rocks! Worst sleep I've had in any hotel! Woke up in pain every morning. The condo is equipped with pretty much everything you'd need for a week. T.P. Was abundant but you should use the local grocery delivery (loqsea) to have groceries delivered when you get there- great service! Don't go overboard though, you're close to Fifth Ave. and enough restaurants to keep anyone busy for months! We ate somewhere different every lunch and dinner, never repeated. The staff at BRIC rental were lovely and helpful, even got a welcome bag. Had to stop there prior to condo for keys and check in. Even hosted a cocktail reception in their garden that night! Be sure to use their van service from airport. He dropped us at BRIC to take are of business and then onto condo. He was back for our trip back to the airport at the exact time they said he would. As a whole - lovely vacation except for rock hard beds.
