"Solid Choice for East London stay"
Easy to get to from Prince Regent DLR up the stairs or Lift and the hotel is right there, amenities of hotel pretty good. We didn't use all of them, ie. Restaurant Bar, Pool etc. Onsite shop was expensive and limited choices for hot food. £7.50 for Paninis and £6.50 for sad looking sandwiches seemed expensive, limited vegetarian options too. We got back late due to delays but if you can get to the area at a decent time and need food or provisions we would head to the Tesco behind the excel or take snacks with this in mind. Breakfast the next morning however was a delight, lovely staff, free newspaper to take away and good choice of buffet breakfast options. Room was nice with a brilliant bed, but on the whole the room was no nicer than a new premier inn for example so really feel the 4 star rating of this hotel comes from the additional amenities such as the pool and breakfast services, so something to bear in mind if you book a room only rate. All in all, a good stay.

"Nice Hotel, Superfast WiFi. Expensive F&B"
Check in was smooth and easy. Staff prompt and polite. I arrived early to stored my bag with no issue. Upon check in later, I was asked for a 50 pre auth for incidentals which thought was pretty standard although I was miffed when I got the the room as the mini bar was empty... Rooms are nice and big. I had a room facing the river and on the 8th floor. (I was given a choice of high or low floor on check in) it was a twin but perfectly adequate. Nice shower and clean bathroom. Decent coffee and tea facilities in room. Rooms quiet. Good aircon. Good Iron and board. The only negative was the price of the food and drink. £19 for the chicken in the hotel restaurant which was basically 2 chicken legs. You have to pay £3 extra for Vegetables. Outageous. ALSO ordered 2x Gin and Tonic at a grand price of £20!!! If I was staying for personal reasons I would simply eat and drink elsewhere. Go to Canary Warf. Loads to choose from there. All in all pretty good. Good staff, good beds and good location for Excel. Just avoid the overpriced food and drink.
We arrived at the bar for a relaxing drink after a stressful day. Well the stress levels rise even higher! The bar was overflowing with drink less customers waiting to be served! For around 10 minutes only one person was serving until someone came running from reception to help. We watched beer being wasted as pumps were not working and people unable to pay with card as the machine wasn't working! After 30 minutes we finally got our drinks! Never again! Go down the road and drink at the Fox - great service- at least 3 behind the bar and cheaper!
We stayed here for two nights in order to watch a music event at the Olympic stadium. The hotel offers reasonable priced parking, the DLR train line is attached to the hotel, making getting around simple. The hotel is clean, fresh and the staff helpful. Not much around in the way of eating options unfortunately but the area is being developed. A fantastic stay!
