Room was clean and modern. Staff was very helpful. I had prepared to speak in German but the front desk staff spoke perfect English. The Hamburg StadtRundFahrt (Hop N Stop bus tour) has it's number 2 stop just around the corner. We purchased discount tickets at the hotel desk. This tour is in English and German. The view from the canal side is beautiful and well worth the small additional cost. Be aware that tour boats travel thru the canal here often and they can be noisy. However, they stop by 11 pm and were no trouble to us. We had breakfast in the hotel and we thought it was very good. It is buffet style with everything you would expect plus a few regional favorites like salmon, pickled herring, and liverwurst. A very nice dining room with a great view. To get there you cross over the canal from the hotel lobby through a glass enclosed walkway. Very nice! Very little English language programming (BBC) on the television but there is so much to do and see in the area that it was of little concern to us.
"Very nice but please provide proper towels!"
A fairly new hotel in Hamburg's up-and-coming 'City of Warehouses' (Speicherstadt), the Ameron is nicely located if you are curious to discover this new area of Hamburg with the new concert hall the Elbphilarmonie, the canals near the commercial harbour but also the new residences and private marinas of 'Harbour City' (Hafencity). The hotel decor is in-between conveniently modern and boutique with some interesting touches like the wall art and apparently rotary phones. We were there during an unusually hot weekend and we welcomed having AC (and that it was silent). The bathroom amenities are from The White Company, a nice touch for us Londoners. We had a Premium room and it came with bathrobes; I am unsure whether lower room categories would have had those: I mention them because the towels were a real surprise - and a disappointment: very thin and, for the supposedly larger ones to be used after bathing or showering, in fact very small (slightly longer than a bath matt...). I recommend that the hotel consider having towels more in line with the quality of the rest of its offerings. We didn't have breakfast and so I cannot comment on either the variety or quality of the food.
"Nice room and service"
I stayed there 3 nights for business. It's rather new for the decorations. The room is clean, tidy and modern. I like that much. Staff is helpful also. The sauna room on top floor is excellent. If beer is provided, that would be perfect.
This hotel was our base for three nights and fully met our expectations. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was basic but clean and comfortable with plenty of space and with an excellent shower and bathroom. We took breakfast which had a good choice in pleasant surroundings. The location was excellent for us within easy walking distance of the places we wanted to visit. We would certainly recommend for a short stay.
Good hotel, nice walk into town . Very quiet bedrooms, service good, food in restaurant also good. Only fault for me was no tea/coffee making facilities in room. I always like a cuppa when I wake up. Other than that couldn't find fault.
