"Not a true luxury collection hotel...BEWARE OF NOISY ROOMS!!!"
I've stayed in several luxury collection hotels and I have to say that the Augustine Hotel really falls short. Here are some of the pros and cons of this hotel: Pros: - Great location nearby the Prague Castle, Charles Bridge and many other great tourist attractions. - You're staying in an old monastery so it's a pretty unique experience. - The weekend Manager is really pleasant to deal with. We had an issue with our room due to the noise (more on that later in my post) and she was very apologetic and really tried to help us. Cons: - Some of the rooms are located right on the path of a busy street where tram carts run by every few minutes...and pretty much all night. We had one of those rooms and I can tell you that not only is it noisy, but the room actually shakes!!! Also, the bathrobes and towels were less than luxurious. Both were quite worn out. To top it all off, we didn't even get a coffee maker until we were ready to switch rooms. Definitely not a luxury experience. After complaining to the weekend manager, we did finally get switched over to another room. We were told that we were going to get a very quiet room on the other side of the building but we ended up getting one on the same side but at least a little quieter than the first one. We could still hear the trams but at least the room wasn't shaking! So I guess that was good. The room was also a little bigger, which I appreciated. What I didn't appreciate was that the heated towel rack and the heated floors weren't working, which added to my frustration. - The staff is a whole other issue. We experienced so many small and not so small issues starting with our check in process where we were told that despite being a platinum member, no upgrade was available because they were 100% booked. Yet when I checked the site there were plenty of rooms available. I later found out that the available rooms were not eligible for an upgrade which is fine, but my issue is that the staff didn't explain this properly at all. In fact, they didn't explain anything. This was my first time visiting the Augustine and yet nobody bothered to explain the features of the hotel...I had to figure everything out myself. They're really missing out on an opportunity here. They have a unique setting and are located near some fantastic attractions yet they don't bother telling their guests about it!!! It's quite a shame. Again, not something I would have expected from a luxury collection hotel. - Another issue was the housekeeping which just walked into our room without knocking first. This led to an embarrassing encounter with one of the housekeepers. I'll leave out the details but you can imagine I wasn't too pleased. - The concierge service also needs some serious training. They consider themselves a first class concierge service but I can tell you that we didn't experience that at all! When my wife asked about visiting the royal gardens, he had no idea on whether we needed tickets to visit (which you don't). There's also a fantastic garden next door to the hotel which is where the senate is located. Although the concierge was aware of the garden, he said that it would likely be closed and not really worth it. I honestly question as to whether he's been to this place because it's a wonderful garden with breathtaking views and on the weekends, you can even enter sections of the senate which is an old palace...all this for free! I would think that the concierge service should be aware of this. I can tell you that other luxury collection hotels I've visited where spot on and knew every little detail of their area. Overall, I think this property can do a lot better with what they have. I would recommend investing in some soundproof windows for some of the rooms along the path where the trans pass regularly. It won't help with the vibrations but at least the noise will be kept to a minimum. I also highly recommend they invest in training their front desk people. Although this could be a cultural thing, they need to realize they're dealing with foreigners and that a certain level of service is expected...especially for a luxury hotel. Needless to say, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a luxury experience.
"a few errors happened"
In general I love Luxury collection hotels, and I really like this one, as some people are amazing and helpful and really there for their guests, but sometimes errors happen and I just want to leave feedback on these. Coffee in hotel room – please do leave coffee cups and also don’t forget to refill the coffee as well. I had to ask for cups as for two days they were not added, and once they were, there was only one capsule of coffee left. Room bar replenishment – I was just out of shower in my house coat, and the person insisted to get to the room to check the bar, even I told him I have not used anything, he insisted “ I must check the mini bar”, I mean seriously'!'!'! With me half naked'!'!'! Other than that the bar servise was fantastic and waitress really knowlegable. The signarure drings are mazeballs, and I love stroll in the monestary garden.
"A very special property on the other side of the river...and it's SPG!"
First, the staff did an outstanding job in taking care of us: The professionalism of the staff, and the unique and superior accommodations. It is an SPG property giving points. We attended a conference in the Old Town, and the tram was very convenient to the location. There are plenty of transport options. Close to the Senate Gardens, Prague Castle, Kafka museum, John Lennon Wall, etc. Plus, they made our couple anniversary really special in providing that the desert and the wine. Dining options are too numerous to detail, but there's something for everyone and of course, plenty of Czech food options. Děkuji moc za vaši vstřícnost. To se všechny rozdílu v našich nabídkách!
"Beautiful, great quiet location."
This hotel is beautiful inside and out. The private drive leads to a nice entry and lobby. The courtyard for breakfast and the bar are beautiful. The gardens are also lovely. Walking distance to so much.
"Beautiful hotel made our visit of Prague unforgettable"
We visited this hotel together with my girlfriend last month as one of the stops of our Europe trip. Truth to be said, we were impressed by how beautiful the hotel was. Stuff was very friendly and helpful in every occasion. We had breakfast in the hotel and I cannot complain. Variety of food food was more than sufficient - fresh fruit, all kinds of hot beverages, freshly made egs, etc. Room was very nice as well, all perfectly clean. I can only recommend to everybody travelling to Prague.
