Très bel hotel design, matériaux de qualité, service agréable. Flexibilité: on a pu laisser notre voiture dans le parking après le check-out jusqu'en fin d'après-midi.Comment of M. Christophe , Belgium the 2013-08-20
Very nice designed, well located boutique hotel. Friendly and helpfull staff and nice comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast. The quality of the food at the bar was disappointing but plenty of restaurants around.
"Nice hotel, but service could be better"
We stayed in room 310 for two nights over the May bank holiday weekend, and were generally impressed by the hotel. Our room, which was one of their standard rooms, was quite spacious, comfortable and clean. The bathroom was very stylish, with good water pressure. Large windows overlooked the square outside, and gave the feel of a mini balcony. One feature of the room that we did not like was that there was only a glass partition between the bedroom and bathroom. As a married couple this wasn't too much of an issue, except when someone had to use the toilet when it was quite disgusting for the other person. However, it's definitely not suitable for families with children or for friends as it offers zero privacy. Location was good: about 15 mins walk to the city centre or just a few minutes to the metro/train station. Breakfast was reasonable, with scrambled eggs, juices, choice of breads with jam, honey, etc and waffles and pancakes with nutella. (More on this later.) Staff was generally friendly and spoke good English. I should make particular mention of Dominic, who was very helpful and was genuinely trying to please rather than just doing his job. I would have given this hotel five stars, were it not for the slightly disappointing service, which I describe below. On our first night, we found that the TV volume had been locked to a maximum of 30, and as a result we could hardly hear anything. They were unable to do anything about it since only housekeeping could change the TV setting, and they were only available in the morning. We raised this again the next morning, and the concierge said they would increase it "slightly". We stressed at least three times not to increase it "slightly" but to take it all the way to 100. We assured him we would keep the volume at a reasonable level so as not to disturb others, but we should have the flexibility to take it up. However, to our disappointment, we found that the volume had only been increased to 40. It was very disappointing that they failed to take care of such a simple task. The other area where the service was below par was at breakfast. I was very disappointed to find that they charge you extra for fried eggs. I have stayed at many hotels ranging from 3 to 5 stars in several countries, and always where "full breakfast" is offered it either includes eggs prepared in several different ways, or they can prepare eggs to order however you like them. To only offer scrambled eggs, and then to charge extra for something that should be standard is not befitting a 4 star hotel. Other than that it was a pleasant stay and we would happily stay here again.
"Unique property, near the main station, far from the city centre"
I wanted a unique hotel that would add something special to my stay apart from the expected that all luxury hotels provide. Be Manos is truly that. Striking decorations, a sexy feel throughout, details that make you feel sort of mysterious and out of the ordinary. The decoraiton leans heavily on the black, lighting is very dim, so you have to either like that kind of feel or else this is not the right property for you. Personally, I loved it and would definitely stay again. The only major drwaback I found was the location. It is near the Gare du Midi station, which makes it perfect for short excursions outside the coty, but at the same time it is not an upscale area, somewhat dicey, and far from the Brussels centre. Rooms were not as large as expected, I booked an executive room and would have thought it could and should be more spacious, bathrooms have transparent doors so that you are visible from the room, which is not the most relaxing thing unless you are there by yourself (which probably means you would not have chosen to stay in this hotel at the first place) or with someone you really feel very comfortable with.
The staff here are amazing, so friendly and nothing is too much trouble, upgraded room which il come back to! Gifts in the room for my partners birthday. Anything you asked they would oblige from booking taxis, to champagne at breakfast on the birthday morning! The man that was working the breakfast during our stay (wish I had got his name) a Portuguese man, deserves a very special mention. He was just so lovely, very chatty and gave good tips on places to go, very interesting man, well travelled and really enjoyed talking to him. Breakfast itself is by far one of the best Ive had continental wise, very fresh, tasty and really good selection. Freshly squeezed juice, lovely selection of meat, cheese, eggs, and smoked salmon! There's a small section on bacon and scrambled, a decent toaster for once! And waffles and pancakes! Decent coffee made fresh and bought to your table! Fab! The rooms are huge, spotless and very modern! Super comfy bed and lovely toiletries, coffee machine and very well stocked.. not overly priced mini bar! The downstairs bar is really nice also and between 6-7 guests can enjoy a complimentary drink and nibbles, very nice touch! Location wise it's absolutely brilliant for Eurostar, there's a handful of restaurants nearby but only stay at this hotel if you don't mind a walk, tube or taxi it didn't bother is at all. 25 min walk into the square but nice route and lots of shops etc to mooch in on route! Would I stay in this hotel again... absolutely, without any hesitation! And Brussels is fab too!
This hotel was absolutely fantastic. I booked a long weekend away with my fiancée for valentine's weekend and after looking at the photos decided to give it a go. Upon arrival the hotel was a brief walk from the station located just outside the main tourist area. The immediate surroundings are quiet, but it is a typical station location and therefore has some areas which feel dicey. This did not detract from what is a fantastic place to stay. The décor inside is as shown, completely, throughout. If you don't like the pictures or the feel then don't visit. If like us this appeals then don't hesitate to book. The front desk staff are all very welcoming and the breakfast staff were all extremely attentive. The breakfast was included in my booking and we made use of it. The choice is as you would expect, continental style, fruit, cereal, pastries etc. All of which was fresh and tasty. We were also lucky enough to receive free tapas and wine prior to going out for dinner, as guests this was included free of charge. The room itself was very spacious, i did book an executive room and found it to be very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the shower a full rainforest style over a large bath. The black stone finish and the smoked glass door a fantastic design choice and suited the room perfectly. The inclusion of a nespresso machine was also good and used daily. The bed was large and comfortable and the lighting in the room varied. Side lights, bed lights, curtain lights all available and add to the feel of the room. The hotel also included free WiFi. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in the hotel again.
