"HUGE rooms with great amenities"
The room we had was so large, and the kitchen and washer and dryer saved our lives! The bed was so comfortable, and the living area was a nice bonus. The staff were helpful in arranging rides to/from the airport and train station. The coffee/espresso machine in the lobby was nice too. The fitness center is in the connecting hotel, and was clean, although the equipment could use some updating. The location is great because it is off the beaten path, but walkable to everything. Overall, great stay and would visit again.
Plenty of room. With large bedroom and bathroom. Clean and tidy with housekeeping everyday. Very nice staff. Close to the metro which was only 150 meters away. Everything you needed was within walking distance of Boscolo.
"Dear Oliver Hutten, "
In Boscolo Residence, we stayed in the family more than 12 times, so I want to write about my last stay on June 24, 2017. I want to turn to the General Manager, dear MR. Oliver Hutten, our family from Ukraine and the average payroll for the month of 120 € (the price for 2 persons for 1 day is -146 € !!!), we stayed in 4 adult and 1 child ( 3 years!) And now what we drained and saw for 1 day of pre-departure, working a month! Room. We were given an studio apartments , I asked in advance to give me a new number, we were given an old room, in the Bathroom everything was moldy, dusty, in my hair !!! With my allergy to mold .., (photo attached) Service. At the reception there is not enough staff. There was one guy who spoke on the phone and hosted tourists. At departure we were to return 8 euros, looking at the cashier gave us 5 euros, although there was a trifle to give full change. Pay attention to the cleanliness of the rooms, the repair of rooms and the staff. Best regards, Dmytro
The Boscolo Residence is an average hotel pretending to be five star. What makes it special is that it is interconnected to the Boscolo Hotel where with the New York Cafe Package you can get breakfast in the eponymous cafe and use of their Spa facilities. We stayed in the Boscolo Residence with New York Cafe package for five nights for our wedding. The apartment was nice but our first night was ruined as my bride to be had to crush a large cockroach with her wedding shoes. The night time staff were incredibly helpful and understanding. Granted this is probably a rare occurance, however I had three attempts to complain to the day time management. As we already had the best package they could not offer us anything that we did not already have access to, and I was deeply offended by their lack of understanding and dismissive approach. The New York Cafe was a lovely place. Most food was nice, however, I would avoid the English Breakfast. It was like they'd seen a photo and managed to murder each of the components in a unique way (cremation, under cooked, cold and too greasey). Some of the rooms are on a very noisy road but most are on a quieter side street or at the back.
"Avoid, avoid...and avoid!!!"
On entering Buscolo residences there stands a smart reception area, alas a not overly welcoming reception from staff, luke-warm I would say. There always seemed a need to interact with the other reception desk member to complete a task, nothing seemed smooth. Within this area there is the opportunity to use the free hot drinks machine – not that useful in our experience as no tea bags or milk available and the machine continuously showed 'waste tray full..' so wouldn't work. This was reported to Reception, and then a debacle ensued to empty an over-flowing drip tray all over the floor, with no apology for the lack of items. Could not comment on breakfast as we explored Budapest for this. The breakfast area looked sparse and unappealing and uses the same hot drinks machine. On receiving the keys we were given no explanation of how to reach room, apart from ‘6th floor’. Some help would have been appreciated as the room, after passing through a myriad of corridors (with huge plaster cracks and tasteless art work) was located at the end of a dark corridor. There was always an uneasy feeling about being in this area. On arrival in our room it was clear the hotel has over zealous marketing descriptions of its bedrooms and bathrooms. Definitely not 5 star luxury. We had been sold a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom apartment… but 1 bedroom has to share a bathroom, and the 3rd bedroom does not have a stand-up shower. Room 865 has a dangerous outdoor terrace with unbalanced tiles near balcony. Approach with caution! There is basic terrace furniture with no attention to detail or style. Lots of street noise. Sadly the “apartment” lacked any cutlery. The rest of the kitchen items were dated. No basics supplied such as tea, milk, sugar.. not even a tea spoon.. There are missing light bulbs in various rooms. No black out curtains in the bedrooms. Lounge furniture needs a refresh.. it has the style of an airport lounge, no interior design whatsoever. Useless hair dryer to share between whole apartment. Shower rather grim and dated.. leaking out onto the main bathroom floor. Distinct lack of room service. Sadly, we experience a theft of money from a closed wardrobe. Currently trying to follow up with hotel to understand how they investigate this, but we have reached an impasse. I was originally told I would be re-imbursed, since then I have told this won’t be the case. Someone will be making a small fortune from dipping their hand into each customer’s personal belongings whilst NOT servicing their room. No bathrobes or slippers provided.. Black dirty floors.. To be honest, each morning we were happy to leave and be outdoors to enjoy Budapest. The lack of room service extended to other rooms also. Further along the corridor there was a room service tray which was left uncollected for hours on end. The Buscolo has a spa. The Spa treatment I had was a very good quality hot stone massage. Special mention to Thomas who was kind and professional throughout. Questionable cleanness of the pool inside the spa. It’s very dark, supposed to be atmospheric.. but helps to hide a multitude of sins. We had the opportunity to visit the New York café within the building. Lovely ceiling, but massively over priced. There is a strange menu with an odd selection of offerings. Uninterested staff...lack of organisation. The room oozes charm, the waiters clearly don't.. especially the main man with the ear piece who makes it his aim to ignore customers. Average cakes...no patisserie skill evident. One plate served with a thumb print, the other with a water drip... not what you expect for this establishment. Cocktails and coffees are average and expensive. Avoid and spend your money elsewhere. In summary.. not worth it, not enjoyable.. stay there only if you really have no other option, but leave nothing valuable in the room. Check exactly which room you will be given and verify what facilities it has on booking. Check it lives up to the bold marketing material. Would not return or recommend. Needs a good spruce up and some staff training.
