"Lovely stay at a beautiful apartment"
I booked the Boscolo Residence was a birthday trip away with the boyfriend. Although I realised I booked the wrong hotel (thought it was The Boscolo Hotel) I wasn't disappointed! The buildings were connected, and we were still able to use the spa and famous New York Cafe. Staff were polite, friendly and very helpful. Fluent in English which isn't necessary but very useful. Located close to pubs, restaurants, ruin bars (9 minute walk away) and metros and trams it's in the perfect location for those that want the most out of the area. I'd 100% stay here again!
"Great and practical hotel"
Well situated, the suite was big, clean and confortable. The New York Cafe is a must to see and to enjoy its breakfast as the food was perfect and the service is very friendly and efficient. Budapest is definitely worth to be visited and to be discovered.
We chose this apartment for four nights. The location is good and has the main hotel and New York Cafe attached. So worth going in both as the setting is wonderful. Our apartment was fine, very basic on the kitchen front but adequate for breakfast and would be great if you have kids. The rooms are serviced every day which is good. They class it as five star, but I wouldn't. The bathroom and shower were very tired, cracked tiles, mould in shower, but fresh towels every day. The decor in the room needed a refresh but it was clean enough. Views weren't great, looked out on building but it was quiet. There's a bus stop just outside for the Hop on Hop off buses. Buy tickets there and not in hotel. The guys selling tickets are so helpful and dont rip you off. It takes about twenty minutes to walk downtown to the main hub of Budapest from the hotel, straight forward and safe. I would use this again if i came
"Five star it's not"
The Residence is tired, dingy and unloved, it cannot be classed as luxury accommodation. The "New York Suite" is advertised as three bathroom three bed apartment, that description doesn't clarify one bathroom is in fact a toilet (downstairs), and that between the two upstairs bathrooms there is only one shower. The "duplex" accommodation is pictured with a sweeping staircase, ours was a rickety dog eared spiral affair in the corner of the sparsely lit living room room (as only a few of the lights had bulbs in them or worked) Despite leaving the room make up hanger on the door, the apartment was only partly serviced. One bed made, three left, one set of new towels in the toilet only, other bathrooms untouched. Oh and the theft of 50 euros from a purse ( only realised on our return) Not what you call good housekeeping. The main hotel wasn't significantly better ... the spa treatment was amazing ... the spa itself a little grotty with the smell of smelly feet and a pool showing signs of decay. The New York cafe is over rated and hugely expensive, it's a merry go round of people where service isn't top priority ... getting lots of cash from each and every diner is. Overall this accommodation is only fit for those with low expectations and money to waste. I did mention my issues at checkout but again there wasn't any interest in the comments just a panic they couldn't charge my Amex card !!
"Value for your money, practical and good location"
The location is great although it is not in the middle of Budapest center, but it is only two metro stops away and it is located right by the metro station. The rooms looks a lot better on the pictures, but they were absolutely okay. It was clean, spacious and the bed and lined were good. It is very practical to have a small kitchen too. The reception area were also nice and the staff were friendly. The price were fair and I would absolutely recommend it in this price range.
