"Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location"
Casa Mezio is in a spectacular section of the Peneda-Geres National Park. The view from our room was fantastic. The hotel is very contemporary, with a state of the art bedroom and bathroom. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The included breakfast was one of the best we've had in Portugal. We paid about 95 euros for the night there.
What a wonderful stay. The hotel is very well located and the views are breathtaking. The people are really friendly. If you want peace and quiet this is the place to visit. Beds are really comfortable and the rooms have stunning views. Yesterday I woke up to 6 wild horses outside!
"Trendy, fashionable, relaxing hotel in a dream location"
One word explain it all: Amazing. Great hotel in the national park. Great for walks in the mountains, horse riding or just relax on the pool or sauna with unbelievable views. Lovely villages in a short drive, such as Soajo and Lindoso and towns like Arcos. The rooms are all with views for the mountains, very confortable and with all amenities. Communal areas were very fashionable and with a very warm furtinute. Fire place makes it very cosy and the food and wine selection at the restaurant were of very high quality. This hotel also has a spa area, with swimming pool, sauna and steam room, all with unbelievable views for the area around. Staff was excelent. Upon arrival, the receptionist showed us around all the amenities of the hotel and invited us for tea at 5. Two boys were serving at both breakfast and dinner and their maners and service were of a very good standards.
"Decent hotel, great view, friendly staff but ..."
The restaurant is stupidly expensive. I mean, 5 euros for a coke or 4 euros for a bottle of water' Seriously' The hotel is nice and it does have a nice view ( not awesome, but still very nice ). The rooms are clean and pleasant although the materials are not that fancy. The staff is very friendly and the location is quiet and peaceful. But then again, I felt robbed with the restaurant service. Paid 25 euros for a meal without starters and drinks included. Paying 5 euros for sodas or 4 euros for water is simply too much. Also, the meat was not that great ... even though I was served a medium raw stake, the meat was not that tender which is odd. It's a pity that the prices are that high. Good, but not good enough for me to go back.
"Views to die for...."
I must confess that I am surprised to read about other people's bad reviews on here. I think that it is not fair to penalise the rating of a hotel just because the weather was not good! This is the sort of hotel where you go to enjoy the views and the landscape around, to relax and enjoy the amazing views and surounding landscape from the room, infinity pool or any other communal areas of the hotel . A bit of pre-stay research is more than enough to ascertain that the hotel is in an isolated place, which is without a doubt, its main attractive. Our experience was a truly fantastic one. We booked it for one night only and had dinner in the place. Although it is a bit pricey, it was proper fine dining and the service was super attentive. The room was very clean and had all the things that anyone can need. I personally find the decoration and the modern style very pleasant and makes an nice contrast towards the natural environment where the hotel sit, but without being overpowering. Enjoying the views from the pool is a great experience and robes and towels are also provided. Don't miss enjoying the sun rise from your bed; an amazing experience. Breakfast is also very varied and with plenty of things to choose from The hotel staff were all very sympathetic and helpful, from the manager Marta to Lourenço and Miguel. Such a joy was to stay here than even when we were not planning it, we decided to get back the following day and enjoy another stay at Casa do Mezio. There are still some little things that need some attention, such a s the access road and the landscaping/gardening around the hotel, but they are in the process. If you are after a nice, quiet and incomparable location to enjoy nature and tranquility, don't miss this place.
