"Quaint wee hotel in a great location "
Stayed here for 1 night, no complaints. Room was huge, bathroom huge, great breakfast and a great location in Stockbridge. Just a shame it closes next month and is being turned back into residential houses.
"Clean, cosy & comfy"
Very clean, spacious room with huge comfy bed and large bathroom. Handy 15min walk from Shandwick Pl and in a nice leafy area. Nice breakfast and a good option of fruits, yoghurt and pastries plus cooked. Very friendly staff at breakfast time.
I stayed in this hotel for 1 night whilst in Edinburgh for work. Although my first impressions of the hotel and the setting were good, I have a few grumbles about my stay that left me feeling disappointed. I stayed in room 26. This room is on the second floor with the headboard of the bed backing directly onto the lift shaft. The noise of the lift clattering up and down kept me awake. The room is also directly opposite the cleaners cupboard on this floor meaning I was then woken early to banging noises. When I mentioned these disturbances to the receptionist when I checked out all the response I got was 'OK' and a frosty stare. No word of an apology at all! To add another minor point, when I had a shower this morning the water was not draining away at all. I ended up standing is half a foot of water and it took until I returned from breakfast for the water to drain away. Finally, although there was a good selection for breakfast and it was all very tasty, the meat platter I ordered was enormous. I felt very bad having to leave some of the selection of cold meats but there was no way one person could finish all of that. I feel it would be much better (for the environment) to give a smaller platter suitable for one person where people can request more if required. Overall, having found positive reviews for the hotel on here before making my booking I was left very disappointed with my stay.
Have just spent a great week at this lovely hotel, Yes it's tired in places but the room was always clean, the bathroom immaculate and the staff from the girl doing the cleaning to the girl doing reception were all FANTASTIC!!! We had a small issue with the guests next door, had a word with reception it was sorted straight away! Breakfast was always freshly cooked and piping hot, with the haggis caught the night before! 😀 It's a shame this place is closing, we need more of these lovely friendly hotels instead of the mega chain same room hotels. Hope all the staff find somewhere to work and wish them all the best!
Arrived here quite late in the evening and managed to drive past the hotel on my first venture down the street but on my way back, I spotted the entrance and pulled up on the on the street to park. Very friendly welcoming by the reception and everything was explained to me for the hotel. The room was nice and fitted the bill, the bed was comfy, the shower powerful and the TV big. I was told that the on-street parking needed to be paid for from 8.30am onwards at £2 an hour which was a bit annoying having to sort that in the morning but can't be helped given the location. I had breakfast included which was a nice selection of cereals, fruits and pastries. In the evening I went to the bar for a drink and the bartender was very friendly and the atmosphere was nice and laid back. It was about a 20minute walk into the heart of Edinburgh which was ideal and I was happy with my overall stay here.
