"Great service and location"
The hotel is located at the heart of the city with spectacular day time and night time view of the acropolis from its roof top. The service was overall great and we even got a room upgrade. The doormen were particularly helpful and courteous. Great breakfast service. Only disappointment was that they were not able/willing to give us a table for drinks for a large group in the evening on the rooftop terrace.
"Extremely Disappointing Service at the Front Desk"
We made a booking the day before arriving by call the hotel number direct. We spoke with a gentleman that gave us a "bundle deal" because we were SPG member and advised us that the amount he quoted "included breakfast". We said, great, let's book it. We arrived at the front desk and checked in - which took longer than I would expect at a hotel of this quality and were promptly advised that it was 'room only' and that breakfast could be purchased at a cost of 33 euro per person. We explained the conversation we had and that we'd been told breakfast was included. NO! It's not was pretty much the response we received and on top of that, the lady checking us in pretty much told us we were "LIARS" by saying that we were told breakfast was included. She told us that we must have called the central reservation number and we advised that we actually called the hotel direct - eg: the number in Athens and they transferred us to 'reservations' which we assumed was also located at their hotel. She advised us to call the number again and find out who we spoke with - our mobile phone was not connecting with the Greece network, so we had no way of calling again and explained this and the fact that the number we called was the actual hotel! Why couldn't they see on their system who had made our reservation and why did they put the onus on us as the customer to try and work out who in their system had made our booking. EXTREMELY DISAPPPOINTING!
"Fantastic hotel in a great location"
Stayed here late August for two nights in a junior suite., check in was fast and efficient we arrived early and room wasn't ready but we expected this, we were told we could use rooftop restaurant while we waited. The restaurant is partially open air offering views over Syntagma Square and the Acropolis can be seen from here also. Our suite was very well set out with separate lounge and bedroom, the lounge had a small balcony which overlooked the park opposite. All in all this was a fantastic place to stay in a very central location, the only fault I could find which was very minor, the lounge cushions in the suite could do with replacing.I was informed evening dress for the restaurant was smart casual although a few people dressed in shorts which seemed acceptable. Once again a great hotel and would not hesitate staying or recommending to others. The hotel next door is a partner hotel and facilities including swimming pool are available to those staying at the King George.
"Perfect Choice for Athens"
A great hotel, exceptionally well located, the executive suite is a fantastic choice of room, the service, staff, facilities and breakfast/lunch are very good, a definite return hotel if we are in Athens again.
We were only in Athens one night and decided to stay at the King George hotel. We were upgraded to a room with a view of Syntagma Sq as well as a bottle of champage because it was our honeymoon. The hotel is located in a very central location and we walked everywhere (acropolis, plaka, etc). We took the train from the airport and the bus back to the airport. Both are 1 block from the hotel. The view from the rooftop hotel of the acropolis at night was also amazing!
