"Luxurious Respite from Din of Athens"
My wife and I stayed here for four nights at end of our 2 week Greek vacation that included the islands the Pelopennesian peninsula. We loved it! Everything was perfect, as we expected from a five star luxury hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the service was wonderful. Our junior suite was roomy and well appointed, and the king bed was a sumptuous treat, especially after 10 nights of typically small and all too firm European mattresses in smaller B & Bs. The location at Syntagma square is perfectly situated between the tourist sites in Plaka and high end shopping in downtown area. Taxis are plentiful and the metro is just outside the front door. We enjoyed daily breakfast on the 6th floor Tudor restaurant overlooking Syntagma square with magnificent views of the acropolis and other sites. The buffet style spread included breads, cereals, eggs, sausages, Greek yogurt, fruits, nuts, and freshly squeezes juices, among other wonderful goodies. As platinum level SPG members, breakfast was complimentary. When we return to Athens, we will definitely return to the King George.
"2 Nights stay family of 6 in 3 rooms - excellent location, excellent service, nice rooms"
We stayed for 2 nights in the King George Hotel, in 3 rooms. The service was excellent. 1 of the room's air conditioning was not working and they brought a fan / heater into the room. The staff at reception desk were helpful.
"An oasis in the center of Athens"
The King George is a lovely, traditional hotel perfectly located on Syntagma Square. It is within walking distance of most of the sights, including the Acropolis and the not-to-be-missed Acropolis Museum. The plaka and many interesting shops and restaurants are a few steps away. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The marble bathroom was of good size, with a combination tub/shower. We had breakfast and an evening cocktail at the rooftop bar/restaurant, with a great view of the acropolis. The breakfast buffet (included in our rate with American Express Platinum Fine Hotels) was among the best ever, with local fruit, honey, cheeses and baked goods, as well as hot foods. The service at the hotel was excellent from check-in to our departure. The King George definitely would be our first choice next time in Athens.
"The place to stay in Athens"
We liked everything about this hotel. We arrived early in the morning and the front desk could not have been more gracious and helpful--I am sorry I did not get the young man's name (as when I came back later he had already gone for the day)--he is an amazing asset for this property. We loved our suite with a view--when you come to stay here, you must get a view of the Acropolis--it is stunning. Plus, you look out on to Syntagma Square and the Parliament Building where you can watch the Changing of the Guard by the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The size of the rooms were good--they provide upscale toiletries. We had a spectacular dinner upstairs at the Tudor Hall Restaurant--also has the Acropolis views. The hotel arranged for our ride to the airport---since we had to leave extremely early in the morning for our flight they made box breakfasts for all four of us. The location of the hotel is also ideal for those that like to walk and take in the sites--within walking distance of the major locations we wanted to visit. I cannot wait to go back
This was our last stop after a cruise. Luxurious hotel with a stunning view of the Acropolis and right across the street from Parliment and the changing of the guard. Had the best massage of my life by Fatima, at the sister property next door the Grand Bretagne.
