It was my first time in Greece and I wanted to make the most out of my visit despite the bad weather. The cab driver I booked from the hotel was polite, from the airport to the hotel. The attentiveness of the doorman when I arrived, and a breezy check in process are worth mentioning too. I upgraded to a suite with a surcharge but despite previous request for my room to be as far from the elevator as possible, I was actually provided the nearest one. I, however, was surprised that I didn’t hear the guests coming in and out of it. Each morning though is a different story, since you will be woken up by repeated banging of the doors by housekeeping. They could have used a proper door stopper if they want to get in and out of the room to get something from their trolley. They are propping the door open thru the latch that you used to lock yourself in. My air conditioner also wasn’t working properly, and maintenance came in a timely fashion as promised and fixed the issue. The suite is a quite dated. The wallpaper are peeling off, the wooden floor needs to be polished, the marble tiles in the toilet are so cold that insulation would have helped (something you would have expected for a 5 Star hotel), that also includes the toilet seat. There is, however, a fresh bowl of fresh fruit, a mini bar and a coffee making facility. The veranda is locked for your safety, so you won’t be able to enjoy much of the view you paid for. The hotel’s location is next to the metro, and there are restaurants around the area, and a number of museums too. My tour guide met me at the lobby on all the days I was in Greece, and we just walked around to see the places and eat authentic Greek food. The hotel’s room service is quick, and again, the courteousness of the staff exudes. The same in their gift shop. The main plus of this hotel is not really the hotel itself since it is very affordable for a 5 Star hotel, and it is not the view nor the location that will make me come back. The staff is what will make your stay special and unforgettable.
My husband, 2 year old son, and I enjoyed our stay at the King George hotel in Athens. It is in a wonderful location, on the lively syntagma square and walking distance from streets full of good food and shops which can keep you busy and entertained for days. For anyone traveling with kids, the park which is walking distance has a similar feel to central park in NYC (although on a smaller scale), where you can wonder around for hours, feeding birds, taking kids to the large playground, visiting the turtles and other small animals, and walking around the pond and other picturesque settings. At the end of long days, the hotel has a lovely pool in the adjoining hotel which you are allowed access to, with relaxing spa rooms available for use as well. The hotel has an overall feeling of luxury and comfort. And if you visit either of the hotel restaurants, you get a lovely view of the Acroplis as a bonus!
Having arrived in the early hours to be met with a smiling and helpful reception staff and informed of an upgrade on our room, our stay couldn't have got off to a better start. The lobby area is huge and with marble and classic furnishings this is an amazing hotel. The room was outstanding with a seperate lounge for relaxing in. The bedroom was spacious with a dressing room and loads of cupboard space, the bathroom had acres of marble and a deep tub with shower. The rooms are serviced everyday to a very high standard and there is a turndown service in the evening. This is probably one of the best hotels I have stayed in, it's location opposite Syntagma Square and within walking distance of all that Athens has to offer is excellent. It also has The Tudor Hall restaurant on it's 7th Floor (reviewed elsewhere). An excellent stay with helpful and informative staff and a special thank you to the Doormen who provided us with insights and tips to exploring this amazing city. Highly recommended

"That Breakfast View"
Blog from hellomissmay.com King George, a Luxury Collection Hotel has one of the best breakfast view in town. We arrived here at night, so, we didn't get to see much. But, in the morning, the breakfast view here was definitely a winner. It’s up on the 7th-floor with a terrace view of the Acropolis. Built in the 1930s, King George Hotel comes from an era of old world charm. It’s in such a good spot too, just 2-minutes walk from metro, 1 km from the Parthenon and 2 km from the Acropolis of Athens. What I particularly love is that King George Hotel rooms feature antiques, timber floors and marble bathtubs. Although our room was just outside the bustling street of Athens, we had a wonderful nights sleep. Thank you for a wonderful stay, King George Hotel in Athens. I have to say this is one of the most memorable breakfast I ever had in Europe. For more travel adventure, find me on Instagram @hellomissmay
