We recently stayed at the Dorsett and were very pleased overall. We arrived early at 10am but staff were cery ccommodating in finding a room that was ready so we could check in early. The family rooms are a little on the small side but immaculately clean with all the facilities you could wish for. The bathroom was again very clean with plenty of quality towels provided. Breakfast is buffet style and has a wide selection of food to suit. every taste. The hotel provides a free shuttle service to key areas. You get a mobile phone in your room for use in Hong Kong with wifi and that is included in your room rate. This would have been a solid 5 with a slightly bigger room but highly recommend this well located hotel if you are visiting Hong Kong.
"Clean and serves purpose but be careful of dodgy taxi drivers."
Description says it's newly renovated and yes it is. Clean and average 3 star hotel, not 4. Bar one very nice male at reception, whose name I have forgotten, all others were rude and dismissive. Had breakfast one day and it is very basic. I wouldn't bother unless you're travelling with children and they want cereal, boiled eggs, toast etc. There is a small, nice gym but the tread mills weren't working. There is a shower and toilet room in there but it has no lock so you don't feel comfortable using it. They say there's a candy bar every night from 6pm-7pm but we never saw it. We used the complimentary shuttle bus' a lot. There are 5 routes and this is a big plus. Be aware of the times they go as our worst experience was leaving HK. The shuttle bus to Hong Kong station (5 minutes from hotel) takes you to the airport with no fuss. Check out is 11am but there is no shuttle bus to the station near that time. The next one is after 2.00pm. So instead of waiting we asked for a taxi to HK station, which the hotel organised. Within 10 minutes into the drive, we realised the driver was going somewhere else. When we asked him over and over where he was taking us, he started laughing and hitting my husband on the arm and told us he didn't speak English. We called the hotel and they said it's not their responsibility as they had advised the driver to take us to HK station until my husband said he was going to call the police. We still had no idea where he was taking us. The driver got angry when we noted his ID and took a photo of it and at that point he took an exit from the freeway and dropped us at some unknown station. He then asked us for $200HK which is nearly triple the amount it would've cost us if he had just taken us to HK station. Upon calling the hotel again and speaking to the manager, the hotel advised us to just pay him $100HK. The driver swore at us as he drove off - he apparently knew those words in English very well. We were totally traumatised and didn't feel settled until we had checked into the airport lounge and had a stiff drink. Apart from that the plus's were its cleanliness, the friendly house keepers, the gift upon arrival for children, the free bottled water, shuttle bus', and one very helpful male at reception.
"Good customer service and facilities"
The hotel was nice and clean wjen we checked in, especially special thanks to Mr. Ronald, Front office Manager, he was helpful in organizing a shuttle or helping me with the good tips of local eating and toys shop area for my kids. The room itself was clean and what we expected. Very good service and we will definitly come and stay here again.
"Good facilities, mediocre customer service "
The check in was kind of rushed. Expedia had offered me late check out because of the time of my flight and I asked the reception upon check in and she said that didn’t apply. I called Expedia and they told me to show them and they corrected themselves. Room was clean but their premium was close to the street so you can hear ALL the sounds including the annoying Hong Kong light change sounds. Good for the price. Kind of a longer walk to MTR but not more than 10 mins.
"Flat out joke to sell room with breakfast and hand out a voucher to a restaurant a mile away."
Breakfast bait and switch a complete joke. I ate in the hotel restaurant which was a step up from jail food but not by much. Room was very small and certainly not 4 star as booked. Location is okay with tram station across the street and worth riding its circular circuit.
