"Wish I could give it negative stars"
I stayed there with my family for my stepson's birthday and then again the following weekend for the Presidents Cup...to say it was an experience is an understatement. During my stepsons birthday, we arrived and were greeted nicely, very welcoming...that's where it stops. When we arrived in our room, we noticed a couple of "flying bug"s dead on the comforter...not sure what they were but they were dead...I checked all the sheets and bedding and all was fine. We thought that maybe the flew in seeing the window was left open by housekeeping probably to air out the room. The next morning we returned from sightseeing and noticed that our towels were not replenished nor were our soaps. I had to call down to the front desk and asked for "4 sets of towels"....i figured the word "sets" would indicate the entire "set of towels"...like washcloths, medium and shower towels...not the case...I only received the big towels...this was also after I waited for almost 45 minutes. That night, I spoke with the concierge since I saw a subway stop on the corner and asked how I would get back to JFK the next morning....his response was classic...gave me a blank stare and said "I don't know, I've never taken it...." wow! The front desk person overheard me and asked if I would need a ride to the airport which I stated yes...he had one waiting for me the next morning.... After calling and complaining about the bugs, housekeeping service and then the transportation, management apologized and asked that I stay there again, since I was coming back to NY the following weekend, I took them up on their offer. You would think that everything I went through, things would've been better...they were going well up until the end. Again, I was greeted with friendly welcome...housekeeping needs some serious work...they left dirty sheets and pillow case on the bench in the room....No bugs this time....but did find smudges all over the mirrors and a half eaten donut in the corner desk...gross! My buddy and I were going to the Presidents Cup, we asked concierge how to get to Pier 79...he told us it was about a 20 minute walk...it's doable...then I looked online and knew that was no way a 20 minute walk....The front desk girl that night suggested we take Uber which we did...it was about a 15 minute drive....again, concierge doesn't know much about the city. When we were leaving the monday morning, I asked the front desk person if they could call us transportation to the airport. Maria stated they don't do that and that if I wanted transportation that I should walk up a few blocks and hail a cab. Not really wanting to take a cab...hence "transportation" and not "cab". I explained that the person there last week arranged it, she replied " you will need to walk up the street...its against hotel policy." As I left I walked by her and stated "please tell (hotel manager) thank you for everything, greatly appreciate it..." i was sincere since they made an attempt to fix the problem. She replied, "enjoy the walk for your cab"...I about did a "about face" but decided to talk to the manager again. We did....I won't stay there again.... now my points are all screwed up because they gave me points for $129/nt stay...now that's damn cheap for Times Square...seeing that my bill was $439/nt...not sure how that balances out...maybe its "new math"...not sure...but I've invested enough time and energy into this hotel...they obviously can't get it together...they obviously have people not qualified (concierge) that shouldn't be working there either...I'm done....
The hotel is a great place to stay if your going to Broadway shows. Very convenient to all theaters. Near all public transportation. The hotel is very modern and clean. The staff is very pleasant and knowledgeable about the city.
This is a great hotel in a very central location. We could walk to many things and the subway was very close. The rooms are comfortable though small which is typical of NY. The breakfast which was included was good value and the staff were excellent.
This hotel brand is consistent! This is very good, as you always know what to expect! I love NYC, the people, places, everything! Every staff person that I encountered was just really top notch, professional, and very friendly!! The atmosphere, great, rooms, very nice!
"Handy position, large room, helpful staff"
Stayed one night while passing through New York from Manchester to San Juan. Hotel is in a good spot a short walk from Penn Station. We left our luggage in the Left Luggage store in JFK and got the train from there to Penn with just hand luggage. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and kept checking whether our flight on to San Juan was actually going to go ahead (only a couple of days since Hurricane Irma). We had a King room on a high floor and this was large for New York with a comfortable bed and large, clean bathroom. Wifi is free and is fast and stable. There's plenty of shops, eateries and bars in the vicinity of the hotel and Times Square is less than a 5 minute walk. There's a 7-11 on the corner and a diner for breakfast a couple of blocks going back towards Penn Station. I thought that was a bit pricey though. A good overnight stay in this hotel with no complaints.
