"One of the Best Hotels for a Visit to Birmingham"
This hotel only occasionally fits within the company budget for overnight stays in Birmingham but it is one of my favourites despite being amongst major building works. The car park is under the hotel and there are a couple of flights of steps to negotiate to get to reception but once there everything is good. Check-in is easy and efficient and the rooms are clean, well equipped and furnished to a high standard. They now have USB charging points on the desks which is a clever idea which should catch on across all hotels before too long. The hotel is ideally sited for easy access to numerous bars and restaurants although the hotel bar is fine for a few beers generally with a good atmosphere although pricey. Crowne Plaza have got the hotel breakfast sorted with the usual continental and hot buffet selection however they are always willing to knock up an omlette with a choice of fillings.
See photos the hotel although it had a facelift a few years ago it is now really tired again. On top of that it is surrounded by building works see photos. Location it is central & staff are enthusiastic if a bit misguided but no getting away from the scruffy down at heal feel
"Completely fitted the bill"
I am always sceptical when up-market hotels are offered at reasonable prices but my initial doubts were totally allayed by a warm and efficient welcome, a very pleasant room and an appetizing breakfast. What more does one want when on business, when coupled with a pleasant bar which is not over-priced'
"Everything good but the bar bill"
A good, comfortable modern hotel for business or leisure, right in the centre of Birmingham. Comfortable modern rooms, spacious and equipped with a safe, toiletries (though no hair conditioner), drinks making facilities and fridge. The staff - at reception, the bar and at breakfast, in fact everyone, were helpful and welcoming. The only downside was the bar without any real ales and unjustifiable prices.
"Oh dear, cleanliness is an issue!"
Came here for a business event at the ICC. Staff were very welcoming but as soon as I got out the lift I knew it wasn't going to be a great experience. Carpets, walls, almost everything you look at needs updating or replacing. It got worse as I entered my bedroom and found stained throws and seats! (See pictures) I immediately checked my bed for hairs as I was really concerned about the cleaning standards of the staff if they are prepared to put throws on the bed with such horrendous stains and ignore the main chair stain which was so horrendous I had to put a towel on it to sit down. The bathroom however did have hairs on the shower walls. I ordered breakfast to my room between 07:30am-8am and at 08:06am still no sign, I had to phone down to chase it and it eventually turned up at 8:17. On the plus side the breakfast was very nice, probably one of the better ones I've had this year. If I'd paid for this stay I would have asked to change rooms and had part of my stay refunded. The reception staff were really friendly but I'd strongly advise the Hotel Manager to visit room 530, it's just unacceptable.
