"Not the Club I had expected"
We have stayed in a crowne plaza in Barcelona and the club rooms were totally worth it for the perks of the club room so when booking for Birmingham we went for a club room. Sadly the experience is depressingly British - small lounge with meagre canapés and free drinks for just a couple of hours and continental breakfast. The only good thing about the club bedroom was it was on the 10th floor so was very quiet despite the city centre middle of a building site location. The air con was loud but turn off able. The location is fab, easily walkable from the train station and to the museum and theatre and symphony hall. The walk around the building site to the hotel entrance was ‘enhanced’ by several deposits of vomit when we arrived on Saturday late afternoon and hadn’t been cleaned by late Sunday.
"A lovely hotel for a one night stay"
We booked this hotel as we were seeing Little Mix in concert - the location of the hotel for the Genting Arena is 10/10 - literally a 5 minute walk away. Upon check in there was a little confusion with our room - it had a double bed in and a single sofa bed. As there were 4 of us in the room this was clearly not acceptable. The duty manager got involved and within 30 minutes we were moving rooms - we were given 2 x rooms with an adjoining door in the middle (as we had 2 x children with us). This was perfect for us - the girls had the one room and us moms had the other - knowing that they were safe, with only a door between us. Went to the concert, which was amazing, walked back to the hotel - had a drink in the bar and went to bed. Beds are quite hard but nothing to problematic. The morning after we had breakfast - 10/10 again. Everything you would want out of a breakfast with options for everything, continental, full English, fruit, yoghurts. A really pleasant hotel, with helpful staff - great location, great breakfast
"Clean, tidy and friendly staff."
First impressions count. From the reception area to the staff to the lift to the room. This place is clean and tidy. The rooms are spacious- 409 was anyway. A great place to stay and very central to Birmingham.
"Prime location, lovely hotel. "
Stayed here last night with my daughter on a night out in Birmingham. Lovely hotel, helpful/polite staff, an excellent location, & nice & clean with pleasant decor. The Crowne Plaza is well located, only a couple of minutes from The Mailbox with lots of eateries & shopping outlets; only 7 minutes walk from Grand Central station (New St), & the Bullring shopping centre; & if you're going for a night out then Broad Street is just around the corner. The rooms were of a good standard with toiletries, a kettle (plus tea, coffee & milk), an iron, hairdryer & safe in each room. We had a twin room, with two double beds. As Crowne Plaza is part of the IHG group, if you join you can also request a complimentary extended check out & receive a voucher (1 per person) for a free drink at the bar. Car parking is available at the Mailbox (nextdoor), & there's a 15% discount if you ask the hotel receptionist to validate your token at checkout. Would definitely stay here again 😊
"Very good couple points spoiled it"
Very polite stafff, and lovely room could not fault it. My only niggling points at breakfast the food was just fantastic plenty to choose from BUT all the bread was stale!!! I picked up crusty normal bread and also white and brown bread and every bit was stale which was so sad due to the fantastic choice etc. My other point was the air con would not switch off in my room and it is so so noisy so I did not sleep well as it would not switch off. Also I was very surprised to find the room had no fridge at all which was disappointing. Apart from those points very nice indeed
