"Very pleasant staff and a vintage feel hotel. Beatles were here!"
Great breakfast, with excellent vegetarian sausages on demand. Wide choice of pastries, cheeses, cereals, fresh fruit and lovely staff. Our wheelchair friendly room was big and comfortable, with just a couple of slight maintenance jobs needed (tile that needed grouting etc) Beatles were here! Free papers! Free water! Reception staff set the tone for visit; so pleasant and friendly. Pity restaurant bit expensive, so we ate elsewhere. Also £4.25 a pint in the bar a bit steep! Overall tho', nice hotel.
"Stag weekend. "
Came for a 2 night stay for a stag weekend. Could not fault anything. Great hotel, lovely clean rooms and spotless bathroom. Very comfortable beds. It's a fair way from the city centre but the bus stop is right outside and also taxis are really cheap. Would definitely stay again.
"One Night Stay"
We have used this hotel several times when at functions in Liverpool. Parking was easy and free and the welcome was great. Quick check in and breakfast ordered for the morning (cheaper to do it then). Room was clean and had everything needed, complimentary water. Two little niggles for me, the bed was very soft and I don't like hairdryers that are wired in. Definitely recommend the hotel for friendly staff. The cleaner was very friendly, as were the restaurant staff at breakfast even though they were very busy.
"Godd choice as airport stopover"
Stayed here several times on a 'park & stay' basis; although there are a few other hotels closer to the airport, the HI Crowne Plaza has quiet, clean, comfortable accommodation + a good restaurant. The building is stylish (it was the original airport terminal, appartently). Parking is safe & on the hotel forecourt. Deals for park/stay normally come with included 'free' taxi transit to the airport. On two occasions, the taxi dirver that took us refused to acknowledge that we were travelling under a contract arrangment with the hotel - clearly the hotel mamagement need to review their 'suppliers' and make sure the contact arrangments are clear and are honoured. However -full marks to the reception team, Mandy and Catherine, who refunded me the £7 I had been obliged to pay the taxi driver.
Very welcoming and helpful staff. Indeed the staff that there were throughout the hotel tried to be helpful. Bedroom had double curtains but one half covering a wall. Window only opened to about 6 inches. Heating set at 25degrees. Would not stay at lowest setting of 18 degrees. On contacting the desk they said someone would look at it. After one hour during which we had wedged the door open on to 'a lively' corridor, an apparent receptionist attended and examined the thermostat. She then informed us' it is not a cooling unit '. We agreed, but asked why it would not drop to 18 degrees' ( by this time the thermostat read 27.5 degrees) The explanation remained the same. She then asked if we would accept a fan! Within twenty minutes of her departure, a person who seemed like a housekeeper arrived and told us the same story over again and offered us another fan! Practically speaking, that would have severely reduced our living space, as well as creating a v noisey sleeping environment. We attended the bar to have a drink and perhaps eat. Area had not been hoovered or tables cleaned properly since ' Morning. We attended the dining room to haveour evening meal. The menu was v. Basic indeed, no doubt not helped by my being gluten free. However, if we had not even taken that into consideration, it reminded us of faulty towers! Over all a very tired hotel, needing a great big makeover, with staff who really tried hard( mostly) to compensate for the shabbiness. This delightful one night experience had a price ticket of £136.
