"Fantastic Concierge "
Upon landing in Rome on a Saturday morning after an 11 hour trip from the US a dental crown fell out of my mouth. I was devastated we were leaving Monday for 11 day Mediterranean cruise. We got to the hotel and the Concierge quickly went to work on finding me a dentist that was open on a Saturday morning and would see me - after about 8 or 9 calls she was successful!! She talked to the dentist, explained my problem, called us a cab and off we went. (And mind you I don't speak Italian and her English was perfect.) My crown was fixed and the vacation was saved. I can't say enough about the help that this hotel gave us. In addition the rooms were very nice and the breakfast is great!! Thank you Crowne Plaza!!!
"Overnight stay at end if a holiday"
Hotel very good. Good swimming pool and facilities. Path to pool surrounded by lavender so lots of bees, this could do with trimming back to aid people walking through it. Buffet breakfast excellent. Meal in the evening at one of the restaurants adjacent to the bar was poor in each case even though there was 6 of us. Lasagne tasteless. Pizza undercooked. Service poor.
"Excellent 3 night city break"
My husband and I had a great 3 night stay at this hotel. We had a recently refurbished room on the 4th floor over looking the pool. The room was very clean & spacious, the bed was enormous and very comfortable. Complimentary water was left each day. The hotel have a shuttle bus which is €3 return into Rome city centre, the morning journey could be approx 35 mins long due to the sheer volume of traffic at 9am however the return bus at 9.15pm was much quicker, approx 15 mins. We did get a taxi back one evening and this cost €15 one way so if you can work the bus around your day it is a great saving. We used the hotel concierge for some tourist information about the city and they were very helpful in offering areas to see and eat at. If we were to return to Rome again I would quite happily stay here but if you do want to be closer to the city centre this hotel may not be for you.
"Comfy stay once your done touring Rome..."
This hotel is a bit dated but was the most comfortable out of four places we've stayed here in Rome. The pros..... comfy bed, free Roman bath, steam rooms pool. Great breakfast for $12 euros, in room fridge and free water. Loved the live piano player in the lobby, the garden restaurant was good for a quick burger and pasta bar. Rooms are clean all staff in hotel are extremely kind and hospitable. The cons.....beds are very low to ground and firm, sliding glass door on patio didn't lock, hallways are very dark and painted dark too, you really should have a car to stay here, there is nothing nearby to walk to.
"Poor location, rude staff"
When we arrived Crown Plaza St Peters we were met at reception by rude, unhelpful staff, they did not smile or make us feel welcome. When we asked if they could help us with booking tickets for Rome attractions they replied "no". We later found computers with printers we could have used, but all we got was "no". We later asked about dining, only to be told the reasturant was closed. When we asked for local reasturants we were given two option, both a good 10/15 minute walk down very busy dusty roads. This was not a pleasant experience. The hotel boasts a shuttle bus, but it only runs on the hour, with no service between 12pm and 4pm. There also isn't a bus at 6pm, meaning if you want to go into Rome for the evening you need to leave at 5pm or 7pm. There is also a €1.5 cost each way. The hotel looks close to the city centre on the map, however, the journey by shuttle bus takes between 45 minutes to an hour! The shuttle bus drops off and picks up near the Vatican, some distance from the other attractions. The location is poor if you want to visit Rome centre. Metro is a 15 minute walk down very busy roads, equivalent to walking down the hard shoulder of a dual carriage way in the uk. The breakfast was adequate, but the staff we allusive and unhelpful. No one offered coffee or tea when we sat down. When we asked the waitress shrugged her shoulders and said "in a minute". When the coffee finally arrived we then asked for milk, as we weren't asked if we wanted any originally, she brought a jug and slammed it on the table! I've never stayed anywhere with such poor service.
