"Not great, but acceptable."
It appears that this is an older hotel that remodeling would help. The lobby want clean. I stayed at many hotels from 5 stars to 3 stars and I’ve never stayed at a hotel that didn’t provide face cloths. It was livable.
"Many positives, a few negatives"
We stayed at this hotel as it had a pool and we have two children and we wanted a bit of a relax during the day. Lucky it was still open coming in to the end of the season - but it was freezing. There was no heating - though the children enjoyed the kids pool. The position of hotel is not near the main attractions but we were able to catch a taxi fine from out the front on 2 occasions. It is a decent walk to grocery stores - but we did it with 2 kids in tow. We also visited a local neighbourhood family fun park. We had an issue at check in - our problem surrounded the kids eat free. Luckily I still had written correspondence about this and it was quickly rectified, although added to my stress levels. The food at the hotel is great, the breakfast is AMAZING! lots of options. Antonio in the Restaurant is a real asset to this hotel - he is fabulous. Very friendly and helpful. The hotel passages are dark - yes - but it didn't bother us. The room was large to accommodate all 4 of us in 2 queen beds. This hotel does accommodate many people at a time, along with business meetings and seminars so it does seem like there are lots of people around but it was quiet enough in our room to get a decent night sleep. We would stay here again if needed.
"Nice American Style Hotel"
This hotel is American Style in Europe. It has a large open lobby and large rooms with convenient bathrooms. There is a spa on premises and a beautiful restaurant. The problem with this hotel is that it is 2.5 to 4 miles from the downtown area with Piazza Navona and Vatican City. The hotel has a shuttle to both places. It only runs to Vatican City in the morning and Downtown in the late afternoon. It costs €1.5 / person each way and you have to buy a ticket at the hotel. It is also a long way to the airport and the shuttle only runs a few times per day there too. The cost is €15 / person.
When you originally look at this hotel you are somewhat underwhelmed, however, do not judge this book by its cover. The service is five star, they could not do enough on every aspect of hotel service. It is a 15 minute ride into the tourist area of Rome, but the shuttle is very convenient and it runs often. Free breakfast and it is a great breakfast too.. the restaurant and bar serve awesome meals and again are so pleasant... yes the restaurant in this hotel is very good... rooms the clean but not new.. but would I return' The answer is yes!!
Room was nice, clean. Staff was friendly and helpful. Especially nice was "Handy", a free cell phone for use in Rome. However, a nearby restaurant was not allowed to provide ToGo boxes due to restrictions placed by the hotel. The hotel restaurant was adequate but tended to be overcooked and under seasoned. The hotel is a 15-20 minute taxi ride from St Peter's and the city center.
