Domes of Elounda is very conveniently located in Elounda of Crete with lots and lots of things to do, Plaka Village is in a walking distance (1,5 km away), while Elounda is a 5 minutes drive (2,5 km away) and Agios Nikolaos is a 10 minutes ride. All three nearby villages have tavernas and restaurants of excellent quality, bars and coffee shops, souvenir shops and markets too, if you are keen on exploring the neighbor area, stroll and take in the local culture.

I stayed here with my husband for 2 nights in a 2 bedroom villa and everything was perfect- we wish we could have stay longer. The hotel is located in a beautiful location on the island with an amazing view and perfectly calm clear blue water & picturesque mountains in the background. The hotel grounds were beautiful and perfectly maintained & the amenities are topnotch. The breakfast was great with a variety of options. Also topnotch is the staff, they are so friendly and attentive & make you feel like you are the only people are the resort. If we ever make it back to Crete, we will be coming back here!
We stayed in one of the 2 bed villas with a pool. Comfortable , clean and bigger than expected pool. Food in the buffet restaurant was always good. Fantastic outdoor breakfast everyday. Staff in the crèche friendly and very child centred. Very relaxing 10 days.
Was incredibly satisfied with our stay at Domes of Elounda. From the moment our taxi pulled up we were greeted by Charris and given an overview of the property during check-in. We spent the majority of our time at the beach which is extremely beautiful and offers unique views. The entire resort service is second to none. We especially enjoyed the staff down at the beach and the men who drove the golf carts. Highly recommend the BBQ night and also very much enjoyed having a drink at the bar off to the side of the lobby each night (great view). I am a Marriott Gold member and was offered a complimentary room upgrade at check-in to a room with a private pool. The room was perfect. There are a lot of children at the resort, however it personally did not bother us or make our trip any less relaxing. The hotel is a decent distance from the port/airport so if you are not renting a car then transfers each way can get a little bit pricey.
"Beautiful and Fun, But a Daycare"
We had a very positive experience at the Domes and may return. The staff was, for the most part, absolutely excellent. Charis and Veronica were excellent at check in, the golf cart team was prompt and friendly, and the service at the restaurants (and for room service) was excellent as well. Beyond the staff, another highlight of our was getting upgraded as a Marriott Platinum to one of their newly constructed luxury villas, with a private pool. It was a beautiful set of rooms and private outdoor space, to complement the many nice public areas. Finally, we also liked how much there was to do: tennis, swimming, the beach, tours etc. It wasn't all perfect. In fact, there was one huge issue that kind of put a damper on our experience and led us to check out a day early: there are kids, everywhere. Perhaps because the property is exclusively villas and suites, easily 80-90% of all the visitors at the hotel had kids with them, and they invaded every space on the property. Whether you are relaxing at the pool, the beach, a restaurant at 21:00, or even your own patio, you are likely to have at least a handful of children making all sorts of noise in your vicinity (as kids do). The property could and should take a lot of steps to create spaces for guests who would rather relax than be surrounded by children for the length of their stay. In addition to this drawback, we also had some other issues: our entire room flooded with over an inch of rain water the one time it rained, the pool was not at heated (an issue for those visiting in May), and the food was only decent (of the level you probably wouldn't recommend checking out to someone staying at a different hotel). Overall, it was a fun hotel, and if you're traveling with kids during the peak summer months, I would absolutely recommend this hotel. If you're looking for something romantic or traveling in the off-season, my recommendation would be a bit more measured.
"Top class Personal & Charming place"
What a great place Domes is. It will be hard to find a more personal, warm, charming and simply great place to spend time away from the stress of the every day life. I took my family here last week (incl 2 young daughters) and we were made to feel like royalty from the minute we entered the resort. The staff is a huge part of making this into a truly top place. Everyone from management down to the cleaning staff are happy, enthusiastic and very helpful. Their attitude makes a stay at Domes feel very family focused rather than a normal stay at a big resort. Excellent work by everyone at the resort but I would like to single out George, Nick, Vera and Dimitris for taking such good care of us during our stay. So, service is top notch, but how did we find the rest of the place' - General: the hotel/resort is spread across a hill in Elounda with one section of the resort on the front facing the ocean and the Spinalonga island with amazing views. The Second part of the resort is on the other side and there you have private villas, 3 family pools (one huge), 2 restaurants, Haute Lounge (FAB!!), gym, delicatessen and a few other things. If you don't want to do the walk then no probs, club cars are shuttling you around all the time with very little wait. The hotel has kind of three main sections, one down by the private beach which is excellent with its own beach restaurant (Topos) and a bar etc. Second section is the main hotel and lobby with adult only pool and then the third is the family and villa section. This layout means that despite being fully booked last week (400 guests) it never felt crowded. People are basically naturally spread out across the resort in different areas depending on what they want to do. We found this fabulous for three reasons: 1) felt very personal and never crowded, 2) plenty of options for things to do and stay on the resort means you dont get bored, 3) moving between the three sections is super easy and we often spent 2-3 hours in each section each day and then moved to the next one. Kept it feeling very fresh and fun every day. - Main hotel section: very nice, open and airy with great views of ocean and spinalonga. - Suites/Villas: we have a brilliant 1 bed suite with spectacular views over the ocean and spinalonga with a great infinity pool. We spent many many hours there, especially after breakfast. The rooms are big, typical Mediterranean decor, great bathroom with jacuzzi and rain shower. Big terrace with table and chairs, sun loungers etc. - Restaurants: 4 main restaurants, we tried all of them and they are all very good. The Greek on the beach is superb for lunch, the Asian by the main building has very good Peking duck and Singapore noodles and the Italian by the family pool has great pizza and a lamb shank that is superb. Try the Alpha Estate wine with the Lamb Shank, excellent. - Pools: two main pools, adult only by the main building and the family style pools on the other side of the hills. The family pool is 80m long and fab set up with loungers etc so never crowded. They also keep the pools quite cool so that you get proper relief from the very hot sun in Crete. - Haute Lounge: exec style lounge for those staying in villas or platinum marriott. This was great to have access to. Its just by the family pool and they have food and beverages there throughout the day (open 7/24) and its a great place to chill out and hide a bit from the sun. Gym: 2 gyms, one by the spa and this is outdoors and one next to the Haute Lounge. Both have modern machines and equipment but are quite small. Despite this it was never crowded. I guess most guests dont bother with the gym in July :-) Service: no need to say any more - sensationally good. They really make the place warm and give it a home feeling. Well done Team Domes! All in all - a great place to pick if you are thinking of heading to Crete and Elounda. Also, if you go there, dont miss heading to the Kanali restaurant just outside Elounda - fantastic salt baked Seabass
