Domes of Elounda is very conveniently located in Elounda of Crete with lots and lots of things to do, Plaka Village is in a walking distance (1,5 km away), while Elounda is a 5 minutes drive (2,5 km away) and Agios Nikolaos is a 10 minutes ride. All three nearby villages have tavernas and restaurants of excellent quality, bars and coffee shops, souvenir shops and markets too, if you are keen on exploring the neighbor area, stroll and take in the local culture.

Stayed with my husband and two grown up daughters in September. It was the first time we have been on this type of holiday (we generally opt for busy city breaks) but I feel we may well have been converted. We were met from our airport transfer and given welcome drinks on the terrace. We were then taken to our VIP Deluxe villas where we met the villae manager who pinted out the facilities and, complimentary drinks and snacks shelf. There was also a large plate of delicious food and drinks on the table which was much appreciated. The vase of flowers arrived soon after. The villa was beautiful and, although we had our own pool we didn't use it all the time as the two nearby pools were virtually empty and we were able to do lots of lengths to burn off all the food we were consuming. Access to the haute living lounge meant we enjoyed a complimentey lunch and sometimes even went back for a afternoon tea. We had half-board included with our booking and I would recommend this option as the meals are very expensive. The food was, however, wonderful and varied. We preferred the Italian restaurant as there was usually a painist or other musician playing and, there weren't lots of toddlers and babies around as there was in Thoros. When we returned to our villa each evening we had fresh water, a Leomadis chocolate and interestingly laid out nightwear. The beach area was also great, lovely views of Spinalonga and complimentary cold bottles of water delivered to our sunbeds. So, in summary, for a beach and sun holiday with 100% friendly staff and great facilities one could do no better. There isnt a lot of history nearby but Spinalonga was fascinating and well worth a visit and, we took a 3 hour walk to the top of the hills overlooking the island and the views were stunning. Will definitely be going again - when we have saved up!
"Terrific hotel - amazing service"
What a wonderful hotel to go to with Children. The service was above and beyond our expectation. The hotel is in great decorative order, very clean and tidy. Beach is great, pools are lovely (although freezing cold). But it's the service you get from every member of staff that was second to none - i have nothing to complain about. They were attentive polite and happy to go beyond with any request. One piece of advice; get a room on the beach side of the hotel as you'll benefit from a much greater view (rather than on the family pool side).
"Best Ever Hotel Experience"
We've had the good fortune to travel in a variety of parts of the world and have now found the single best hotel we ever stayed at. From the welcome upon arrival to every interaction with the staff we found the best trained, most warm and welcoming people ever. We were particularly touched by how genuine and sincere they were in greeting children of all ages - it is a fabulous family venue. Our room was spectacular. The service was beyond compare and the food was sensational. The staff was friendly and helpful, had great ideas and knowledge re things to do. I wish it were closer as we would return frequently. Well worth the effort to get there - visit once and you will be convinced.
Really beautiful place and beautiful view! I would recommend this for sure for couples. The staff were friendly and the nearby towns of Plaka, Agios Nikolaos, and Elounda are quick drives away. Definitely recommended!
"Make the Domes your home! "
We made the Domes our home for the week in mid October. It's a beautiful place in a charming corner of Crete and I'd highly recommend with only one note of advice... While the Domes is well set up to cater for all, this hotel is very family focused. If you're travelling as a couple looking for peace and quiet, be aware that there are some areas of where you might not find this - the Tholos buffet restaurant for example. The food is of high quality, vast in choice and delicious, but you may have a soundtrack of high-pitched toddler screaming as you eat. This by no means ruined things, but it's worth knowing if you're looking for some laid back dining. Screeching aside, everything else was faultless.... From the moment of arrival it was clear that this place is a real cut above and the Domes team pride themselves on top notch customer service. We were greeted at our transfer car and shown to the bar for a traditional Greek welcome drink before being taken to our room. As we'd arrived late they'd thoughtfully supplied us with some drinks and snacks, much appreciated after a lengthy journey. The free bottle of Cretan wine also went down splendidly later in the week. We opted for the 'standard' suite with a jacuzzi on the balcony. 'Standard' is perhaps an unfair description as it was veering towards the deluxe. Absolutely spotless, stylishly furnished with a well stocked tea/coffee area, quality toiletries (always the mark of a decent place!) and even a pillow menu! Having arrived in the dark it wasn't until the next day that we could appreciate the full splendour of the view from our balcony. The Domes occupy an elevated position and so have a prime vantage point over a stunning calm bay, the mountains and most significantly, Spinalonga island. Having read Victoria Hislop's book 'The Island' (along with the rest of passengers on the flight to Crete) this was especially exciting! A cup of tea on our balcony each morning with this treat for the eyes was so lovely and relaxing. The rest of the Domes complex was on a level with our room, absolutely flawless. It's huge and set out like a pretty Greek village, parts of it are steep for walking and so a fleet of golf type buggies are on hand to transport you around whenever and wherever you wish. We'd booked on a half board basis which entitled us to an evening meal in the Tholos buffet style restaurant. As mentioned above, the food served was excellent, altho the atmosphere could be noisy. Part way through the week we were given a complimentary upgrade to Dine Around, which meant we could also eat in the Topos fish restaurant on the beach, and Blend Italian restaurant. Both were exceptional and amazing value given that a fillet steak could be included in the cost if that took your fancy! The private beach area was again immaculate with fantastic service from the bar, with a fine range of cocktails. The water is so calm and clear I'd recommend hiring a boat from the shack near Topos restaurant - not bad value at €50 for an hour and a great way to get up close to Spinalonga and view it from the water. With the Domes having such superb facilities - pools, food, a gym and spa, it could be very easy to stay on the complex without exploring beyond. Don't make this mistake! The surrounding areas are beautiful, take the 15min coastal stroll to Plaka for some pretty tavernas and cute gift shops. Or take the longer trek in the other direction to Elounda for an even bigger range of lovely places for a spot of mezze on the water's edge.
