"All good short stay"
Stayed here for one night while at Hyde Park for the last night of the proms. The location of the hotel is perfect for access to both Marble Arch tube station (2min walk) and Hyde Park speakers corner area (5min walk). I requested early check in when i booked the room, and although the hotel could not guarantee this, we were very happy that on arrival at 12pm, we checked straight in with no hassle to freshen up before heading over to the park. The room itself was perfectly comfortable, and has lots of useful amenities for business travellers ie voip phone in room, hdmi and usb ports for laptops. Loved the lit signs outside each room replacing the do not disturb cards. A comfortable if brief stay in a nice hotel certainly will return in the future!
"Were about to say excellent.. but !"
As a loyal member of hilton , I always give hilton hotels the first option whenever I travelled , and for me personally I always try to see the difference to pick later the best , regardless of all the negative of positive reviews . However , I booked for 10 days in this hotel expecting something to be smilier to the pictures on the website , but nothing even close . My check in was very smooth and good . Staff were welcoming and friendly . My staying time , was good when in it comes to cleaning the room , the speed of service and many other thing . I was thinking for almost a week or more of my staying , that this hotel will be one of my fav in london , since the location is more than great . For 2 days in row my room didn't get serve ( clean ) and when I called the reception to complain , he told me that he's coming up to check that I might be using the wrong button (digital sign / red=don't disturb, blue=ask for cleaning ), which show the housekeeping not to get in the room ! Surprising that the one who answered me and came up was the concierge (Pepe) , after checking the button , he found that It was blue and room should've been clean . He started to come up with stupid excuses which is that the housekeeper didn't clean my room because I have the breakfast sign hanged on the door , and some of the guest use this sign as don't disturb ! When I didn't accept what he is saying , he started to raise his voice , and said literally ( I don't have to stand here and face your attitude) . So , in this case I had to close the door since I felt that this guy not okay mentally. He knocked the door in very aggressive way saying literally ( you don't have to be rude ) I went down after 5 min , the receptionist which was there believed that (Pepe ) didn't do anything wrong . And while I was talking to the receptionist the concierge (Pepe) was aggressively standing putting his hands around his waist as if he in a position of defending his self or attacking someone . I'm still in shock from the incident. This has never been the standard for hilton brand The management got the massage through the reception, and I raised this up , and nothing has happened . By the way , anyone can think that am exaggerating about what happened , specially the management people , but as we all know there's cameras everywhere, and they can be checked Seriously guys, most of your stuff needs to get trained , specially in communication skills and some language improvements. For the readers try to keep this hotel as last option
I've been a diamond member for 10+ years. We recently stayed at the Double tree in Marble arch London. I read many negative reviews from this summer but thought I'd take a chance because of the location. What a mistake! We arrived at 8:10 after having requested early check in. Realizing of course the hotel is not obligated to check us in until 3 pm . Being a Diamond member we have often had luck in getting our room cleaned and getting in early . First thing that happened during check in they charged me full price for a room that I was using points for . My paperwork was in my back pack. Later I found my paperwork and asked that the charge be taken off my credit card . The young lady still didn't understand it. Fortunately there was an experienced lady who helped us . She was thoughtful and knew what she was doing. Wonderful personality. The only value added person we ran into at this hotel. When our room wasnt ready we decided to keep our luggage and try to nap . Still thinking it wouldn't be long. The concierge had a hissy fit that he couldn't store our luggage and get a tip. He moved us once telling us our luggage might scratch the furniture. Then as we tried to nap in a quiet corner, we had been awake 36 hours. He kept playing loud music and slamming things around. Around 11:00 Am when I was napping he came over and said "are you alright " can I call you a cab . I asked him if he was getting us a room. He was a really petty person and as obnoxious a Hilton employee as I have ever met. Finally at 2:15 we got our room . Supposedly an upgrade . TINY is the best description dark and dingy. This was much smaller than a cruise ship cabin We ordered fish and chips and it was inedible. I would not stay at this hotel again even if they offered to pay me. This Hotel needs new Management . I have both called Hilton Headquarters and e mailed them.
"Close to Oxford Street"
Chose this hotel due to it's close proximity to Oxford Street, Regent Street, Hyde Park and the West End of London. We have stayed here before and weren't disappointed. If you don't mind walking it is easy to get to Regent Street, Piccadilly, Kensington, Covent Garden... Otherwise there a number of underground stations in Oxford Street.
Good location for Hyde Park and Oxford Street. Rooms were not very big but clean. Could not even put my cup on bedside table as phone took up most of the space. Price for room expensive but I assume you are paying for the location.
