The Empire Hotel’s coveted location puts guests within convenient proximity to some of New York’s top attractions. For instance, Just across the street, guests can walk to overlook the renowned Lincoln Center which includes the Metropolitan Opera House, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Alice Tully Hall, all host to top live performances and major global events in the world all year-round. In the opposite direction, guests will find Central Park and Columbus Circle less than a few short blocks away.
Really enjoyed the experience - bed was very comfortable, the pool/rooftop lounge was fabulous and location was perfect. Definitely plan a return trip. My only comment is that the bathroom on the M floor should be cleaned a bit more often throughout the day.Comment of R. Laila , United States the 2016-06-21

"Bait and switch"
My boyfriend booked a room at your hotel for my birthday. He elected to stay at your hotel because your property had a pool, unlike some of your competitors with cheaper prices. He received an email prior to our stay stating the hours and information about the pool deck, so he had no reason to believe there would be any issues once we arrived. It was a surprise he planned for my birthday and it was ruined when we found out that the pool was not open like your website and the email he received stated it would be. The primary reason he book a room at your hotel (which was rather expensive) was because he was willing to pay extra to ensure we had access to a pool. Furthermore, we went to the front desk and added one of my friends to the reservation so she could access the room while we were not there. We were being proactive because we knew we not be in the room and would not have access to our phones when she was due to arrive. She was coming to drop-off wardrobe for me and ended up sitting in the lobby for an hour before she left. Lastly, the morning we were due to check out the water was not working; which is completely unacceptable. I have made several attempts to contact a manager via phone and email to get my complaints address and resolved. I had been working with Kenn Skelton. I reached out to him back in June with a follow up email and hadn't heard anything. I called your front desk, and was informed he no longer works for your hotel. In addition, twice the person at the front desk has forwarded me to voicemails of individuals who are no longer employed at the hotel. It's very unprofessional and concerning that your front desk agent is so incompetent and that I have yet to receive any follow up on a customer relations issue from June. I understand employees may change, but customer service issues should not be mishandled, as mine has been.
My second stay at the Empire Hotel primarily because of its location -- the heart of the upper West Side -- with close proximity to great restaurants, good shopping, I always have luck with super early check-in and I can find a decent rate. As to the rooms.....remember people, this is NYC where rooms are SMALL for the most part. That said, the Empire - for the price - provides rooms that are decent, clean...and the junior suite is really roomy! Enjoy midtown, Soho, the Financial District, Broadway, etc.....and then come back to the peacefulness of the Upper West Side, blocks from Central Park. I'll be back again as it definitely fits the need!
"A stop in New York"
The hotel is in a useful position, close to the Central Park . Room spacious , clean and well equipped. Thanks for hosting our pet, It's a pity that it was not possible have dinner with the pet in your restaurant. Special thanks to Mr Pasquale for the courtesy and the helpfullness.
"Strong Dislike for The Empire in New York city"
I really disliked this hotel. The rooms are dark, not for atmosphere, just unpleasant. The room is very small- reminiscent of chickens in a cage where they can't stretch their legs. The shower can only be turned on and regulated by standing directly under the water. I asked for someone from room service to show me how, his head got wet too. The cleaning lady left no soap one day. Everything is extra$$$. There is a coffee maker in the room, but you have to pay for using it. The Wi-Fi for the room costs ten dollars a day. You have to pay for the computer in the lobby to print a boarding pass. The keys don't work so in 4 days, I had to come back down and stand in line 3 times at reception because I was locked out of the room. The staff, from house-keeping to reception, was nasty. Will not return, nor recommend.
"Hope your not sick or need assistance."
My husband had the flu and passed out in the foyer of the hotel. The staff were very helpful initially. I got my husband back to bed with the understanding a doctor was on the way. After waiting an hour I tried ringing the concierge, the front desk and room service. I could not get anyone to answer the phone. A guest in a foreign country is very daunting when you cant get assistance. I finally went downstairs and asked how long before I could expect the doctor. They then inform me that a doctor had not been called and if I wanted one I should just ring 911. I was gutted.
