Excellence Playa Mujeres Adults Only All Inclusive is located on the beach in Playa Mujeres, close to Playa Mujeres Golf Club and El Meco Archaeological Site.
Hotel was great. We had a room on first floor and I could hear people talking and service carts rolling by at all hours. If I went back I would stay on the top floor and request a more secluded area.Comment of C. Jason , United States the 2015-10-21

"Perfection is Unrealistic. This Place is Five Stars of Reality."
I LOVE to research, and when I'm going someplace new, I make it a point to read as many of the reasonable low star reviews as possible. This is not because I am looking to complain. This is because I like reasonable expectations... So I'm starting with the cons. The elevators are unreasonably small. It's difficult to even have two people and luggage in them. Forget going with other people. Lots of the floors are VERY slippery. I'm not sure what to do about it, but it's dangerous. We left our "room needs service" tag in one day. I think that the housekeeping must have thought it was "do not disturb." It wasn't. The water on the beach is not Yucatan peninsula kinda pretty. It's murky. The water all over the resort is cold unless people ask for things to be heated. It would only make sense to have the pools be at least swimable. (the main pool was). The furniture everywhere other than the seats at the restaurants is uncomfortable. Sofas in the martini bar look inviting, so does the sofa in the room, but it's really just for show. The concierge is never in the building office (building 7) and does not answer the phone. The spa was a somewhat odd experience to me. It was so sterile... almost made me feel like I was being treated for mental illness... NOW... do NOT think that means I had a bad experience by ANY stretch of the imagination. This is my 5th time to Cancun, my 4th all inclusive, and my 3rd 5 star all inclusive (The Royal and Live Aqua were the others). This was the BEST of the three. Lots of them have the same things (good food, good presentation, excellent/accommodating staff, comfortable beds, plentiful drinks, beautiful grounds, etc.) I want to mention a few things Excellence does BETTER than the rest. The restaurants themselves: Every place you go is an "experience." Chez Isabel, Flavor Market, Aroma, the sports bar... they're all like going to a completely separate place. The decor, the music... everything makes you feel like you're out at a different night on the town. The little touches... the fruit and petit four delivery The answer of "it's a pleasure" to everything that anyone does... and the idea that they really mean it. (One morning Tonatiuh brought be a bloody mary. I hadn't even tasted it. I just liked the idea of going to the bloody mary bar... When I did, he seemed truly upset that I didn't like HIS bloody mary. I DID. I just wanted to play.) Everyone says everything in English AND Spanish and do everything to make you feel comfortable. The sheer amount of activities--bicycle rides, star gazing, movies, dancing, shows, karaoke... and on and on and on... and the Excellence Times every day to remind you of all of it. The SCENT!!! Everywhere! The big room with plenty of drawer space. Cesar. (I was so glad I met him before he was gone for vacation! Everyone is great... but he's machine.) The experience... I will be back. I won't be at all surprised if I become one of the couples who is there for my ninth, tenth, eleventh trip to paradise. I was blown away. There is something there for everyone. Don't go expecting perfection. If your trip is ruined because a couple of people got rowdy or because you had to wear a shirt with a collar, I worry that you have more problems in life. I would feel sad that you couldn't find some happiness in a place where that is the sole goal of everyone working there.
Eight Times! When you return to a resort for eight consecutive years, I think that really says all anybody needs to know. The first time we went in 2009 we had such a great time we went back in 2010. Now, EVERY YEAR. And every year is better than the one before. As has been expressed countless times, the resort is beautiful, the drinks plentiful, the food delicious, the spa sinful! But many resorts can boast similar attributes, for us, the thing that sets EPM apart is the people. Carolina Paz is relentless in her hospitality, courtesy and commitment to truly make you feel at home. David at the Excellence Club Pool Bar is unmatched anywhere in the world. Truly one of the greatest bartenders I have ever encountered (and that is saying something!). The entire staff, from the towel guy/gal to the General Manager, friendly, professional and efficient. Ninth time is coming up ... can't wait to get back home.
"Another fantastic holiday"
This was our 3rd visit in 3years to EPM for 14nights. Everything was as good if not better than previous visits. The staff and food were top notch as usual and to be expected. This was the first time we have been there for Halloween and Day of the Dead and the decorations were amazing and so detailed, even the food was themed. The only negatives I have are that the coffee in the breakfast restaurants is horrid (this doesnt include aroma coffee bar) and its starting to look abit tired around the main pool ( there are areas which are very easy to slip on and need a grippier surface), and around the hot tub near revive bar (needs resurfacing). The lazy river near revive bar hardly seems to get cleaned compared to previous visits where it was everyother day. That being said.... fantastic hotel, great food, amazing staff. Thanks to the following people who made our 2017 vacation brilliant, see you all in 2018... "I Must Go Every Year"
You are now reviewing the best Hotel to have an incredible holiday in Cancun Riviera – Excellence Playa Mujeres. This may seem long but it only partially captures the experience you can look forward to having there. Truly excellent, meticulous, impeccable standards and exceptional delivery of authentic high quality customer care. The Excellence Club is a must! Greeted with fruit and champagne in the room on arrival. A full bottle bar, and snacks which are maintained to capacity throughout your stay. The room is opulent with a side room just for a huge jacuzzi. A beautiful full and colorful lounging bed on the balcony. Spectacular ocean views. There are 9 excellent restaurants, in the evening about 7 themed waiter service restaurants. Men must wear collared shirts for entry. Superb quality each and everyone. The Excellence club provides a separate private lounge for its Members, three exclusive pools with pool side bar waitress service. SPF50 sunscreen, insect repellent spray and moisturizers also available at the pool with dark brown towels. Separate section of the beech for Excellence club clients with equal attention to detail as the pool area but there are people who diligently clear seaweed and leaf debris from trees, leaving a pristine beach with an awesome view of the vividly blue Caribbean Sea. True value for money. This amazing experience doesn’t just happen by it’s self. There is an incredible hardworking and dedicated staff from their amazing Leader Nelson. He seemed to be there 24hrs. Does he sleep' He is quietly moving around everywhere throughout hotel introducing himself during the day into the late evening making sure the promise of the resort “to help you make unforgettable memories” remains a reality. He modestly claimed luck in having such great staff. Actually he is an exceptional talented, and inspirational leader. As a result, his employees authentically show-up as the most amazing people. The Excellence club provides a personalized concierge service. They are given specific number guests to look after. They find you, you rarely need to look for them. They introduce themselves at the earliest opportunity and find you each day to see everything is going smoothly. In the event of the slightest request they are on it and checking back to see that it is resolved to your satisfaction. I have to now acknowledge and give my deepest thanks to Gwendolyn our concierge. It’s like having a fairy godmother. She is a remarkable woman, someone you would want to know and have a friend. She is a dream maker. My Sister let Gwendolyn know my birthday was the day before we were due to leave. She made sure my birthday so special from the waiters coming out at breakfast with cake and singing. To the beach cabana with a message written in sand in front of it and a towel birthday cake! They have amazing fun ways of creating all sorts of things with towels. When I went back to my room I had balloons and streamers on my four poses bed with a towel rolled to look like a large birthday candle, actual birthday cake and champagne. In the evening Nelson was in the French restaurant making sure my birthday surprise of more cake real candles and the waiters singing happy birthday went as planned. I have never had my birthday celebrated from beginning to end and we/I was ecstatic. Like many people we met who had gone to celebrate honeymoon’s, anniversary’s and birthday’s. We were there to celebrate our anniversary. We had a lovely ‘Happy Anniversary’ banner placed on our door. For our anniversary The hotel treated us to dinner for two at the sea shore. There are only three tables with three highly attentive wait staff. So in the dark of the night with stars in the sky, a light warm breeze, fairy lights, the lapping sound of the water just a few feet from us, great food and a brilliant jazz saxophonist playing Jazz, the mood was set, and we had an unforgettable Anniversary. I wished he could have played longer. The Jazz saxophonist also plays in the Martini lounge but I wished they would give him an extra spot on stage in the theater and let him put a show together. We returned to our room with rose petals strewn on the jacuzzi and swans in a basket, made out of towels, facing each other in a heart shape and chocolate and champ. Also, the hotel gave us an unforgettable hydro therapy experience. Now for the Spa. Leo was a treat to be with and lead us through the experience finished by a to die for temple and head massage. We enjoyed it so much we booked another session for the day before leaving with a couples massage including facial. 3 hours of pure bliss. I have been a masseuse scince 1990. This was the best massage session and I have ever experienced. To finish, there is a cool down room with lounger warmed beds and blanket. You can stay until you are ready to leave, fruit and Champaign or water are served. When I go back I plan to book the same for the day after I arrive, in the middle, and the day before I leave. You have to do the Spa experience. I’ve done many spa treatments and never seen anything as well thought out and meticulously delivered. I can’t finish without mentioning Rosa in the Excellence Lounge. ( A lounge exclusive to Excellance Club Guest. It is a comfortable meeting/starting point. Full bar service breakfast, lunch, dinner and delicacies available). Rose is so efficient warm and kind. Julianna a server on the Excellance Club beach, fun, upbeat, caring and so efficient in the heat of the day. How does she do it' She is fabulous. In the Excallance Club Lounge Concierge Javier, fun and efficient, Halandra - a smile that lights the room light easy nature, efficient. Freddie in the breakfast and lunch buffet area fun upbeat perfect person to start the day with. Aurelio - Mr Supper Energy, great conversation, very funny, to be found in the Lobster House. The staff bend over backwards to please. They are so cognizant that the extraordinary high service standards provides them with a full season of work. They are also very proud to be part of the Excellence Playa Mujeres and they find pleasure in their work. The only complaint I have are of a few of the guests – they are not your servants. They are dedicated hard working gracious men and women, please return gracious conduct towards them. To all the Excellent Staff to numerous to mention by name and behind the scenes. They diligently take on every task with awesome attention to detail. I saw men draining and really scrubbing them any Jacuzzi and pool areas. The swim pools are immaculate the grouting gleaming white. Constantly being tested. I so appreciate your work because I spent so much time in the pool with complete confidence of optimum cleanliness. I saw a lady taking such great care to level the sand in a receptacle. I thought it was stubbing out cigarettes, but she was so careful to get the sand level just right before pressing a flowing imprint into it. I had to ask a passing member of staff “what that thing she’s working on'” he said “. Cigarette ends”! The gardeners who I never saw but the gardens are PERFECTLY, beautifully maintained as are the entire grounds. Whoever chose the fabulous sculptures throughout the gardens. I wish the mini versions of art work were on sale. The gate men who make sure only the people who should have access gain access. Delightful wait staff in all the restaurants. The man who conceptualized this hotel and everyone who executes that concept every minute of every day. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Best Anniversary ever, best birthday ever, best holiday ever, and best value for money ever. I’ll be back every year.
