"Great Hotel!! "
The hotel is Great and th people are so kind! We met the GM and his number 2 and both are so dedicated to the guests happiness. Really Great guys. The WiFi is strong and quick in each corner of the hotel. The rooms have Great views of the City of Barcelona. The bed is to die for and the airco works nicely. Thank you for the Great stay.
A good hotel for business and it will give you a relaxing experience. Rooms a bit outdated however good beds an good room utilities. Location about 20 minutes from city center by taxi. Service on a high level.
I had a very pleasant stay with this property. All of the staff were very accommodating and it feels great to be addressed with your name. I had a comfortable bed and the manager Stefan really made feel welcome when I arrived. I also love the different amenities in this property. I really recommend this to everyone.
"Took time to enjoy the view...."
When family and friends ask us about our travels, we always mention that Fairmont is by far one of our favorite hotel brands. The Rey Juan Carlos definitely meets the brand standard...impressive architecture, lavish decor, employees that go above and beyond to show their hospitality and provide excellent service. Mar Ferrera made sure our check in process was painless and we were surprised with champagne, sweets and a hand-written note in our upgraded suite courtesy of general manager Stefan Winistoerfer. The views were so amazing that we almost didn't want to leave our room. You could see the city, pool, equestrian track, the ocean...it was breathtaking! The hotel was still undergoing renovations during our stay, but other than the executive lounge being closed we hardly noticed and never experienced any noise issues. Although located outside the city center, the hotel is close to the airport and within walking distance to public transit. We found it pretty easy to navigate to the usual tourist destinations from this location. Our hotel dining experience was hit or miss (more miss)...we had breakfast every morning and were going to dine at The Terrace for dinner one evening, but were told that we needed reservations although it was nearly empty. Service at the Aris Sports Bar was a bit slow and breakfast at Market was extremely chaotic. I don't know if it was due to the high season, being understaffed or just a poor layout, in any case it was a complete mad house. If you have the option, venture out. We found some really nice gems in the city, but nothing really within walking distance of the hotel. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and if we were to return to Barcelona, we'd stay at to the Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos in a heartbeat!
"Not a 5 star level hotel"
I chose Fairmont for my business travel in Barcelona for the convenient location close to both the airport and city centre. I travel a lot - and usually Fairmont is a good choice for a quality hotel. For this one, I was quite dissapointed. The rooms are outdated and not along the usual standard of cleanliness for a 5 star hotel. Carpet is very stained, old, and coming out in some corners. Room layout is weird with too many doors for such a small room. Very old-fashioned and worn out closets. Bathroom sink functions very poorly. I was moved to another room due to my complaints of the room but was faced with a similarly outdated room. I was told the rooms are newly renovated but they definitely don't look like that (rather something straight from the 80's). Breakfast is ok - but I've seen many better ones. Staff is friendly and helpful, though. However, chose to check out and relocate after the 1st night of my stay.
