This hotel is very beautiful. All things are made with accuracy. I stayed on an suite room at 15 floor with magnificent view on the city. Comfortable and silent with all comfort. Cleaned perfectly. Placed on university's zone it is well connected on the center with taxi or metro rail.
"Amazing staff. "
Exceptional staff, every member of staff encountered went out there way to help including Pedro on reception & Roger behind the bar. Great location for a trip to camp nou. Spotlessly clean hotel in fantastic grounds. Would definitely recommend & would visit again.
"This is why we love Fairmont hotels"
We're very frequent Fairmont patrons and have stayed at many of their hotels in North America and Europe. The Rey Juan Carlos in Barcelona is a stunning property - fantastic architecture and surrounded by beautiful landscaping and pools. It was our "splurge" hotel at the end of a three-week trip to Spain in April. We were given a beautiful, recently renovated suite. We decided to order room service that evening and noticed a lot of loud clicking and snapping sounds from the HVAC. The room service attendant called maintenance and they quickly sent up an engineer who told us it would need repairs, but we were safe to stay in the room. It wasn't a peaceful night. We spoke to Ismail, the manager, the next day and he offered to put us in a different room, which we declined because we had to get up very early to catch our flight home and didn't want to go to the trouble of moving. In the end, Ismail made it right and we felt every staff member did what they could to make sure we had a memorable stay. As an example, when we checked out at 4:00 a.m. the next morning, there was coffee and croissants waiting for us at the front desk. This hotel is very close to Camp Nou for football fans. We didn't find a lot of bars or restaurants in the area, but the lobby bar was lively and the food was some of the best we had in Spain. The Palau Reial de Pedralbes is a short walk. The Metro is also very close, quick and inexpensive to get to the Gothic Quarter. We would stay again, especially when it's warmer and we could enjoy the pools even more than we did.
Excellent hotel for business trips, very close to one of the two conference centres of Barcelona. Not reccomanded for holidays because quite far from the city center. Nice and big rooms with all business facilities.
"Blackout twice 1AM in my room"
Firstly, I liked to admit that we arrived with my tour group about nearly 11pm for check in, so it is already quite late. So this is what happened, about midnight the room went all lights out on us. Phone is the only thing that was working in the room. We called the staff, they sent as a technician and he switched on the power on in the electric box and quickly go away. (I guess because he only speaks Spanish and we kept asking him what happened in English) About 10 seconds he went away, another black out occurred, this time we called again to the reception and explained fully to the staff they really need to switch us into another room. This room is not functionally working at all. But the staff insist to let the technician to come fix the switch again. However 10 - 15 minutes passed, and no one show up to help us. AND WE HAVE TO GET UP AT 6AM FOR TOUR AND ITS ALREADY 1AM. Unfortunately we have grab our tour guide, and she went downstairs and shouted at the staff at the reception to allow us to change the room. FINALLY we got another room that was actually working. What a hassle! And of course me and my sister were extremely tired changing rooms middle of night. We were extremely exhausted the next day, and were praying when we get back the second night our room would still be working. You called this five star hotel' I think not. Night shift people seems to care less about tour group visitors and their problems. BIG SIGH!!!!
