Exceptional hotel. Well worth the stay. The staff are superb and extremely helpful. Only negatives and these are really just surprising considering the quality of the hotel, are the smallness of the shower and lighting in the bathroom could be improved. Would go back to this lovely hotel any time we found our way to Barcelona.
Enjoyed this property for 4 days while in Barcelona. Close to Metro so easy access into the city. Christian was the most helpful concierge I encountered on this trip and the Terrace restaurant was delicious & the staff exceptional.
"Not the best experience."
Fairmount seems to be a very pleasant hotel to stay at for business trip, except it isn’t. Last night when I checked in I was impressed with its lobby thinking I would have a good stay, however, when I got into my room and seen my bed, the sheets had some black spores in it, which obviously I wasn’t happy at all about, as in the other hand I was pretty tired and decided to let it go. But then the big surprise comes in the morning when I woke up and went to iron my T-shirt, while I was ironing it, I didn’t realise that it had a cracked part, which ripped one part of my T-shirt, I stopped as soon as I realised it, however it was too late, my T-shirt was already ripped. When I came down to the reception to complaint about the incident to the receptionist she took me her manager on duty, and that’s when I got extremely upset about the outcome of this situation. I explained to the duty manager about the sheets, that I wasn’t happy about it, but above all that I was really upset about my T-shirt, and how could such hotel let it happen, and his explanation was: - Fairmont is a big hotel, we have 500 people staying here everyday, unfortunately we can’t have control of everything that happens, - Also, most of the guests who stays in your room, it’s people from your company. As I work for an airline and my company provides us to stay at Fairmount for our layover, ( regardless of how stays in that room prior me or any other customer this isn’t acceptable, also, my company is bringing revenue to this hotel, they also pay for us to stay there, isn’t like if is free). - Then after saying that all, he turn to me and asks me, what do you want me to do about it' (Customer recovery: you don’t ask, you do something about it) - Asked me how much it was my T-shirt, ( I don’t know is not as if I keep receipt from itens I buy) - Then he said what do you want me to do, to give you a free lunch or dinner' And all the way that this situation was handle was just very upsetting, customer care here isn’t the priority. So if you plan to stay in this hotel, just make sure you are aware of situations that you might come across.
"Exactly what to expect from a 5 star"
Thank you Fairmont, We visited on a long weekend trip and it was class. Took a taxi from the airport and it took only 15 minutes and cost around €22 Euro very efficient and reasonable. Arrival at the hotel was what you would expect, very friendly professional staff. Helpful and proficient. Concierge especially went above and beyond to assist our needs and requests. Javiar on concierge recommended us to an amazing paella restaurant and personally carried our luggage out to the taxi when we left. Thank you Javiar, please give him our feedback. Breakfast was 5 star quality and had everything you would expect from that level. We strictly only stay at 5* and this was it. Only criticism is that the waiting staff at breakfast don’t speak English and make no attempt to try to communicate to your requests. We ordered tea they brought coffee. We sat down left to get some food and they gave our table to another visitor. However the hostess was proficient in languages. Room was clean and new. Cleaners were also very friendly and accommodating. Overall this was a great hotel. One last thing we ate at the terrace and the grill fresh fish was very well cooked.
"Expensive but quite luxurious"
The room was relatively small, especially for the price. I liked that it has a small hallway and then a second door to the actual bedroom, which really helps completely block out the noise from the lobby. One side of the hallway is taken up with closets that also hide things like a safe, mini-bar and ironing board. Great to actually have some room to put your stuff away. The other side is a quite luxurious bathroom. The room itself was in dire need of a refresh, with the carpet being quite literally thread-bare. During my stay they were ripping out the carpets of neighbouring rooms and putting in new ones, and mine was likely done on the day I checked out. Those activities weren't even noticeable from inside my room. The wifi is fast, free, and doesn't require you to jump through any hoops to get online. Their 'Terrace' outdoor grill restaurant is absolutely worth a visit. Shout out to the really friendly reception host who actually speaks Dutch, and the amazing pianist they had in the lobby on Sunday.
