"Take Us Back"
We originally booked a standard room, but when we arrived we opted to upgrade the room to one of the newer renovated suites. One of the best decisions we made. The room was great, with a great view of the pool and the city of Barcelona. The were no issues with the room what so ever. We didn't opt to purchase the breakfast package which was €21 per person, per day. But my wife did have breakfast one day which was €29. There are no vending machines. So if you want snacks, you have to pay the premium for what the hotel offers in the room, or get something from the bar or room service, or better yet BRING YOUR OWN. Also, there are no ice machines in the hotel, but that is not a problem as the lobby bar will give you a bucket of ice for your room. The pools were great, but they close at 8PM. Which is fine, but I like to just chill by the pool, so if it stayed open later or the pool bar stayed open later, that would have been cool. The location is a short ways away from he city center. About a €12 - €18 cab ride, which takes about 20 minutes. Or you can opt for the metro, (which we did one day to get to the beach) and that took about 35 minutes. There was a delay on the metro on the ride back and it took us over an hour to get back. But being from NYC we are used to train delays. Overall, when I go back to Barcelona, unless someone recommends another hotel to me, The Fairmont is where I will be staying.

Overall not a bad stay at all. The good things included breakfast and the staff which met usual fairmont standards. However the majority of the rooms haven't been refurbished and ours was now really starting to show its age. This is a shame because when the rest of the hotel is nice. It's in a good area for transport links.
"Nice Hotel, terrible Front Desk assistance "
We booked 3 rooms for 9 people (5 adults + 4 kids) they refused to put an extra bed in each room because"was not allowed " Finally we had to send 3 people to a friend's house. On the next day we got another room. Front Desk people were very rude, not helpful that all. Because we booked the room on Booking.com probably cheaper, they wanted our room to give to someone else.
In short, the best hotel we have ever stayed in, and we have stayed in over 12 Fairmonts worldwide, plus many Marriott Autograph Collection Hotels. This Barcelona masterpiece is not in the center of Barcelona, but close enough to the center of town to enjoy all the sights and landmarks a cab ride away. The impressive lobby, the clean spacious rooms, the attentive staff, the fabulous food, and the wonderful ambiance make this 5star hotel a must for all travelers.

I have just returned from three nights at the Fairmont, I visited with my daughter to visit the sights of Barcelona. The Fairmont proved to be a perfect choice. The hotel is stunning, the public spaces are lovely as are the rooms, the beds are a treat. We had a problem with a leaky loo hence only 4/5, initially the hotel were slow to respond to the issue but then we stumbled upon Ismail, one of the duty managers and he sorted everything for us, in fact he did more than enough to restore our mood, we were quickly moved to another room, we enjoyed a cocktail and a bottle of wine and we had a late checkout. The service really was excellent. The rooms overlooking the city have a wonderful view which stretches to the airport and closer to the hotel over the pool and Polo Club. Breakfasts were fabulous, one morning we were a little late and it was very busy but still good. It was nice to be just north of the city as it felt like an escape after a days sightseeing. The hotel is a few minutes walk from the metro which goes straight into the city centre or to the airport and is airconditioned! There were always plenty of taxis too. We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the pool restaurant on our last day, the staff were great, lots of fun. I wish our stay had been longer and if I return to Barcelona I hope I will be able to stay at the Fairmont again.
