"A Bit Of Paradise"
We had ten days in one of the 40 Las Vilas properties. Superb inside and outside accommodation, very private, immaculate plunge pool, great buggy service, plenty of free Tattinger. Expensive of course, but its what you pay to rent a piece of paradise. Good choice of restaurants, though the best was the great choice at the buffet service El Bernegal, with the exception of the Asian themed evening there which was a cut below our best local Chinese and Indian places. We were fairly early to bed after a good meal and didn't sample most of the entertainment, though we tried a Beatles Tribute event which was truly awful. We booked through Travel Republic and wouldn't do that again. You can't email them and have to put up with delays of thirty plus minutes on their 020 phone service.
"Beautiful hotel and gardens"
We have just returned from a family holiday to this beautiful hotel. Our children are all adults so I am not reviewing with young children in mind. The hotel itself is reminiscent of a Moorish palace nestled amongst tropical gardens. The hotel's lobby reminds me almost of a giant birdcage (but that's just my opinion) - from the start the staff were friendly and welcoming. The restaurants are varied, as are the bars. We also ate out at a few of the local restaurants which are only a short walk away along the promenade. There is plenty of choice with sunbeds so you don't have to bother with the scramble early in the morning for a good pitch. Breakfast is excellent with an abundance of choice. We've been to several hotels in the Costa Adeje and this one is by far the very best.
We stayed here for nine nights towards the end of September and thoroughly enjoyed it. While the hotel is large, the design makes it feel smaller as it is like a village with lots of different buildings. The location right by the beach is great, the facilities are top class and the biggest surprise of all was the great food. We inevitably avoid hotel restaurants when on holiday, but here the food was so good and there was such a variety of restaurants that we felt no need to go outside the hotel. One of the numerous swimming pools is probably the nicest hotel pool I have ever seen. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. All in all, i would highly recommend this hotel.
"The Friendly Hotel"
I have just spent ten idyllic days with my husband at the Gran Bahia del Duque in Costa Adeje, Tenerife. This is our third visit so we knew the layout of the resort which is quite large. It is quite different to any other hotel we have visited as it is built on a hill with some bedrooms dotted around the beautiful gardens. There are slopes and steps to negotiate but we coped very well even though we are in our seventies. As other reviewers have mentioned there are buggies to transport you wherever you wish to go within the grounds of the hotel. I found them particularly useful when we sunbathed in the lower part of the gardens and wished to be taken back to our room. There are a mixture of nationalities and ages. It is popular with families and young couples which makes it a pleasant environment. There were also a few elderly couples, like us. We could not fault the cleanliness, food and entertainment. But a special mention must be made about the pleasant and willing staff who could not do enough for us. Everyone smiles and speaks to each other, particularly the lovely staff and most of the guests. Having breakfast and evening meals on the terrace was wonderful. Especially dinner with the sun still shining brightly as we enjoyed our leisurely meal. We paid extra for a sea view and found it well worth it especially as we sat on our balcony gazing out to sea in the morning enjoying a cup of tea (kettle, tea and coffee provided) before going to breakfast. It was such a relaxing experience which we didn't want to end. We sat on our balcony again in the late afternoon enjoying a G&T looking across the lush gardens to the sea. What more do you want from a holiday' Of course there were numerous activities for younger guests, which they all seemed to enjoy, and wonderful quirky swimming pools. There were plenty of sunbeds and parasols and very helpful pool boys who would carry our towels, find sunbeds and set up our parasols. Bliss! There is a pleasant promenade, which the hotel adjoins, with pleasant bars/restaurants and a useful shopping mall about five minutes walk away. I could go on and on about the virtues of the Bahia del Duque. For us it was a perfect holiday and we could not find one negative point. We came home feeling refreshed and healthier and cannot wait to return.
"Pure Bliss "
Just back from a blissful few days at this fabulous hotel. The whole site is just beautiful. My room had a wonderful view of the sea. The room itself was spacious and bed was so comfortable 302. I had some absolutely wonderful treatments in the spa even though they were doing some maintenance on the spa at the time and parts of it were closed it didn't infringe on my experience at all. The staff in the spa were so professional and friendly. The staff in the morning at breakfast were just amazing. Getting a table with a view each morning and a paper were just added bonus. Food was fresh and varied such a wonderful selection. The hotel is vast and takes a while for you to find your way around but that just gives rise to finding a little pond or a bridge or a wonderful little bar or reading room. I absolutely loved this hotel and left smiling, relaxed and I booked a week in January before I left. If you want something special then this is the hotel for you.
